COOK COUNTY - An 18-year-old man was arrested after investigators say they found him with a loaded, stolen handgun during a traffic stop in Ford Heights.
What we know
Cook County Sheriff's Police said Monday that Corion Reed was arrested following a traffic stop near the 1600 block of South Lincoln Highway in Ford Heights.
Investigators with the Organized Crime Division said Reed had a handgun with an extended magazine loaded with 20 rounds of live ammunition.
The gun was later determined to be reported stolen out of Chicago. Investigators also said Reed did not have a valid Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card or a Concealed Carry License.
Reed was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of cannabis. He was also issued a citation for having the extended magazine.

Officials did not say what prompted the traffic stop, and no information was provided about court dates or whether Reed remains in custody.

IBERIA PARISH, La. () — A 22-year-old nursing student was shot and killed after an argument with someone she once considered family. Now, with a trial date set for later this month, the victim's mother is speaking publicly; seeking justice and answers. KeAaronee, described by her mother as 'bubbly' and 'the life of the party,' was fatally shot on the 1700 Block of Brianna Drive in Iberia Parish. The alleged shooter, Kaitlyn Livingston, had been a close friend of the family for years—so close, in fact, that she lived with KeAaronee and her mother from fifth to twelfth grade. 'I raised the girl,' said Keoshia White. 'They were like sisters, cousins, every picture together. She's even in my family photos.' Madison also has several active cases in Thurston County. During the hearing, the prosecution addressed the judge regarding Madison's charges. "He was willing to sacrifice his own safety, the safety of the men and women in this community that give their lives every single day, and that he fired upon them in such a wanton and disregard for the safety of everyone in this community is abhorrent to the state," a prosecutor said in court. "Mr. Madison is someone who poses an extreme danger to himself, to the loved one that was with him, to everyone that operates a motor vehicle in this community," she added.
