Qatari royals offer Donald Trump a lavish $400 million 747 jet: Here's what's inside

US president
Donald Trump
has been offered what is being called one of the most extravagant aircraft ever to be associated with the US presidency, a $400 million
Boeing 747-8
jet by Qatar's royal family. The move, confirmed by Trump on Truth Social and during comments at the White House, is being framed by the president as a temporary replacement for the ageing
Air Force One
while Boeing struggles to deliver its long-delayed upgrade.
A palace in the sky
The aircraft once used by Qatar's ruling elite through the Qatar Amiri Flight division is more luxury residence than military transport. Outfitted by renowned French interior designer Alberto Pinto, the jet features a master suite, a guest bedroom, two full bathrooms with showers, nine additional lavatories, five kitchens, a private office, and five separate lounge areas across two expansive decks, the
Daily Mail
reported.
It also includes live TV, internet connectivity, 13 Blu-ray players, over 40 televisions, and plush interiors with gold-accented furnishings. The layout prioritises comfort for 90 passengers, in stark contrast to a standard 747 that can carry up to 467.

luxury aircraft
estimated to be worth around $400 million.
Lavish interiors:
The plane features a master bedroom, guest suite, two full bathrooms, five lounges, a private office, and five kitchens, all designed by French firm Alberto Pinto.
VIP capacity:
Unlike commercial 747s that carry over 460 passengers, this jet is configured for just 90 VIPs and 14 crew, with business-class seating limited to a few rows.
Advanced tech features:
The jet includes more than 40 screens, live TV, Blu-ray players, internet connectivity, and will be outfitted with high-grade defence and communication systems.
As per the report, AMAC Aerospace, a Swiss-based specialist in aircraft interiors, spent two years transforming the plane into what some have dubbed a 'flying mansion.'

Despite being more than a decade old, the aircraft remains among the most lavish private jets in the world.
Once operational, it will be the longest aircraft to serve as Air Force One, stretching 250 feet, with a range of 7,730 miles surpassing the current presidential aircraft by nearly 1,000 nautical miles.
Qatar's 'gift' raises red flags
While Trump maintains the plane is being donated to serve as an interim Air Force One, Qatari officials have described the arrangement differently.
A spokesperson for Qatar's Ministry of Defence said the aircraft is only being considered for 'temporary use,' downplaying the idea of a direct gift.
But the issue has already ignited political backlash. Critics argue that accepting such a jet from a foreign government, especially one with which Trump had significant diplomatic dealings during his presidency may violate the US Constitution's emoluments clause, which bars federal officials from accepting gifts from foreign states without congressional approval.
Democrats were quick to condemn the move, with one senior official calling it 'nuclear-grade graft.' Security analysts also raised concerns about using a foreign-built and previously operated jet as the president's primary command post, even with extensive retrofitting.
Trump's defence: 'I'm not stupid'
When asked by reporters, Trump was defiant. 'It's a great gesture,' he said. 'I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer. I mean, I could be a stupid person and say, 'No, we don't want a free, very expensive airplane.''
He dismissed suggestions the plane might be used for personal purposes, hinting instead that it could eventually be donated to his presidential library, much like Ronald Reagan's Air Force One exhibit.

Trump condemns ‘terrible shooting' of Minnesota lawmakers, calls it a targeted attack
US President Donald Trump on Saturday condemned what he described as the 'terrible shooting' of two Democratic state lawmakers in Minnesota, calling it a targeted act of violence that must not be tolerated. 'I have been briefed on the terrible shooting that took place in Minnesota, which appears to be a targeted attack against state lawmakers,' Trump said in a statement. 'Such horrific violence will not be tolerated in the United States of America.' The shooting spree, which took place Saturday morning in two towns near Minneapolis, killed former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, and left state Senator John Hoffman and his wife wounded. Authorities believe the attack was politically motivated. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the details during a press conference, calling it 'an assassination' and urging the nation to stand against all forms of political violence. 'Those responsible for this will be held accountable,' he said. The suspect, who fled after exchanging gunfire with officers, was reportedly posing as a law enforcement officer. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Authorities say the individual used a vehicle that looked identical to a police SUV and exploited public trust in uniformed personnel. 'This is a betrayal of what our uniforms represent,' said Public Safety Commissioner Bob Jacobson. A shelter-in-place order was issued Saturday morning as a multi-agency manhunt, including the FBI, continued. US Attorney General Pam Bondi vowed federal support for the investigation, calling the killings 'horrific' and promising prosecution 'to the fullest extent of the law.' Gabrielle Giffords, the former congresswoman and gun violence survivor, said, 'An attack against lawmakers is an attack on American democracy itself.'

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says Anthropic CEO is very wrong, and on almost everything he said about AI: Don't do it in a dark room and tell me ...
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang strongly refuted Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's predictions regarding AI-driven job automation during a press briefing. Huang dismissed Amodei's claim that AI could eliminate 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within five years, advocating for transparent AI development. While acknowledging job transformation, Huang emphasized AI's potential to create new opportunities and boost productivity. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang expressed sharp disagreement with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei 's predictions about AI-driven job automation during a press briefing at VivaTech in Paris. Huang specifically challenged Amodei's recent claim that AI could eliminate up to 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within five years, dismissing the notion as overly alarmist. 'I pretty much disagree with almost everything [Amodei] says,' Huang stated, critiquing three key points he attributed to Amodei: that AI is so dangerous only a select few should develop it, that it's too costly for widespread development, and that its power will lead to massive job losses. 'If you want things to be done safely and responsibly, you do it in the open … Don't do it in a dark room and tell me it's safe,' Huang added, advocating for transparent and collaborative AI development. What Anthropic CEO said on AI Amodei, in a recent Axios interview, had warned that AI could disrupt half of entry-level office roles and urged policymakers to prepare for economic impacts. Huang countered that while AI will transform jobs, it will also create new opportunities, citing increased productivity as a driver for hiring. 'Some jobs will be obsolete, but many jobs are going to be created,' he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 선납금·위약금 없이 벤츠를 원하는 기간만큼 이용하세요. 계약 만료시 반납, 인수 모두 가능합니다. 써치오토모빌 더 알아보기 Undo Anthropic on Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang's statement In response, an Anthropic spokesperson clarified to Fortune that Amodei has never claimed only Anthropic should build AI. The spokesperson reaffirmed Amodei's concerns about AI's economic impact and his commitment to addressing them.
