Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will pay a state visit to the Kingdom of Spain on Tuesday.
The statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court today stated: "To consolidate the bonds of friendship between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Spain, enhance cooperation and make them more comprehensive, His Majesty the Sultan will pay a state visit to the Kingdom of Spain from the 20 to 22 May 2025."

Tel Aviv: A large fire was reported on Saturday night at a strategic complex near Haifa in northern Israel after Iran launched a barrage of missiles and drones, MEHR News Agency reported, citing local media. According to reports by the Times of Israel, at least four people were killed after Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles at Israel, with one missile striking the Arab city of Tamra, east of Haifa. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that it launched a wave of ballistic missiles and drones against Israel as part of its "True Promise III" operation. The IRGC's Telegram channel specifically mentioned that a massive fire was ignited in the Haifa refinery as a result of the missile attack. Israeli media outlets have confirmed a significant fire at a strategic site in the area. Reports indicate that four people have been killed in the incident, as per the MEHR News agency. "A new wave of combined offensive operation True Promise III using a combination of drones and missiles was launched by the IRGC Aerospace Force in response to renewed attacks by the Zionist regime," the IRGC public relations said. The Israeli military reported that one person was killed and three others were wounded in Iran's attack on the northern occupied territories. Sharing a video on X, the Israeli Defence Forces wrote, "Iran launched UAVs at Israel tonight. This is us intercepting many of them" Further, Israel confirmed that they have completed an extensive series of strikes on targets in Tehran related to the Iranian regime's nuclear weapons project. The targets included the Iranian Ministry of Defence headquarters, the headquarters of the SPND nuclear project, and additional targets, which advanced the Iranian regime's efforts to obtain a nuclear weapon and where the Iranian regime hid its nuclear archive. Amid the Middle East tensions, Israeli Defence Forces said that, "Iran made its intentions clear; we had no choice but to act." The Prime Minister of Italy expressed her deep appreciation for the wise approach and constructive role undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman, under the leadership of His Majesty, in supporting de-escalation efforts and promoting dialogue and diplomacy in the region. The two sides also discussed a set of matters of mutual interest, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two nations. Meanwhile , a series of phone calls continued between Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and a number of counterparts across the region and the globe on Saturday. The phone calls come as part of the ongoing diplomatic efforts to contain the dangerous military escalation and tensions in the region, triggered by Israel's direct attacks on Iranian territory since the early hours of Friday morning. Over these calls, Sayyid Badr underscored the importance of halting the aggression and deterring the aggressor through peaceful means, based on international law and justice, in order to prevent further bloodshed, destruction, and loss of life, and to safeguard the security, stability, and the supreme interests of the region and its peoples. Meanwhile, Iran has announced its withdrawal from the sixth round of nuclear negotiations with the United States, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 15, 2025 in Muscat, Oman. Oman News Agency and Iranian state television reported that the talks have been suspended until further notice, the diplomatic efforts that aimed at restricting Iran's nuclear program. The decision follows recent Israeli airstrikes in Iran. The cancelled session was expected to address disagreements over uranium enrichment limits and U.S. sanctions relief.
