Ong Ye Kung, Chee Hong Tat and Ng Chee Meng ask Facebook user to withdraw Su Haijin allegations

SINGAPORE – One Sng Chia Huat, who goes by Rich Sng on Facebook, put up two posts on the social media site falsely accusing two ministers of being aware that Fujian gang member Su Haijin had broken laws but condoned it.
He also falsely accused Health Minister Ong Ye Kung and Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat of dishonestly pretending not to know Su, being involved in or susceptible to corruption or bribery, and being part of a system that protects criminals like Su.
Both ministers, in a joint statement on May 12, said they have sent Mr Sng letters from their lawyers, and will be suing him for defamation if he does not make the reparations they have requested.
The statement added that the allegations made by Mr Sng in his posts are baseless and false.
An earlier joint statement on May 6 had detailed how both ministers do not know Su personally, and did not have any contact with him before or after they had dinner with him.
Singapore tycoon Sam Goi said he hosted the private dinners where Su was present, along with several Cabinet ministers and businessmen, The Straits Times reported on May 9.
Mr Goi added that the dinner with Mr Chee was held on Nov 19, 2020, and the dinner with Mr Ong was held on May 10, 2022.
Photos of the dinners – social networking events – were posted on Instagram on May 4 and May 5 by former Reform Party chairman Charles Yeo.
Su, a Cypriot national, faced 14 charges, including resisting arrest and money laundering. He was sentenced to 14 months' jail on April 4, 2024, and deported to Cambodia on May 28 that year. He was one of 10 people convicted in a $3 billion money laundering case, which was one of Singapore's largest.
On May 12, Mr Ong and Mr Chee asked Mr Sng to apologise, withdraw his false allegations and pay damages, which they will donate to charity. This must be done by May 16, the statement added.
The statement did not specify the amount of damages the two ministers are asking for.
If Mr Sng does not withdraw the false allegations and pay damages, the ministers will sue him to clear their names, and to uphold the clean and honest reputation of the Government, the statement added.
Labour chief Ng Chee Meng, in a separate statement on May 12, said Mr Sng has also put up several posts about Mr Ng that are false, misleading and defamatory.
'Through my lawyer, I have asked Mr Sng to withdraw his false allegations and to apologise by 16 May 2025,' the statement said.
Mr Ng - who is the newly elected MP for Jalan Kayu - said he has asked Mr Sng to propose an amount of damages, which he will donate to charity.
'If he does not do so, I will be compelled to take legal action against Mr Sng to clear my name against these false, misleading, and defamatory allegations,' he added
Mr Ng was among the guests at a dinner hosted by Mr Goi on May 1, 2021, which Su attended.
He said it is part of his work as labour chief to engage with different companies and private-sector leaders.
Mr Ng, who is secretary-general of the National Trades Union Congress, on May 6, 2025, said he had no further interactions with Su after police investigations and criminal charges were brought against the man.

Wanted Washington dad Travis Decker seen in doorbell footage before allegedly murdering his 3 daughters

The Washington dad wanted for the murders of his three daughters was spotted on security cameras in the days leading up to the brutal killings as police ramp up their search for the military-trained suspect. Doorbell footage captured Travis Decker walking up to an unidentified home's door, knocking on it before strangely sliding his hand up and down the surface, according to video released by the Chelan County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday evening. Authorities noted the video was from before the alleged killings, but released the footage as they are the most recent images of Decker. 6 Travis Decker was spotted on a Ring doorbell camera days before his three daughters' bodies were discovered on June 2, 2025. Chelan County Sheriff's Office Decker, 32, is wanted on three counts of murder and kidnapping after the bodies of his three daughters –Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 – were discovered in a remote campground near his abandoned truck. Police also shared two other images of the 32-year-old military veteran that showcased his bushy mustache and chin beard. Decker, who is homeless and has been living out of his truck, also has multiple arm tattoos and was sporting a ponytail in one of the pictures. He was described as 5-foot-8 inches, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. 'It is unknown if he is armed at this time but he should be considered dangerous and should not be contacted or approached,' the sheriff's department noted. 6 The bodies of his three daughters -Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5 – were discovered in a remote Washington campground. Chelan County Sheriff's Office Decker had picked up his daughters from his ex-wife Whitney Decker's house for a scheduled custody visit on May 30 and brought them to a campground in the rural Washington State city of Wenatchee. The girls' mother reported the trio missing at 9:45 p.m. Friday after her ex-husband failed to return them home. An endangered missing persons alert was issued Saturday before it was canceled Monday after police discovered the girls. Their bodies were found in an embankment at Rock Island Campground, about 18 miles west of the town of Leavenworth, at around 5 p.m. Their bodies were found close to their father's white 2017 GMC Sierra truck, which allegedly had two bloody handprints smeared on the back. They were found with plastic bags over their heads and their wrists zip-tied. Preliminary investigations indicate the girls likely died from asphyxiation. Officials believe Decker, who was a member of the Washington National Guard since 2021 after transferring from the Active Component, can survive for months off-grid in the wilderness. 'We understand that at times, he would do cashing, so we understand that's a possibility that he could have scoped out this area before, put some supplies out there, and has the ability and knowledge to survive for long periods of time,' Sheriff Morrison said at a press conference Wednesday night, KIRO7 reported. 6 The girls' mother reported the trio missing at 9:45 p.m. Friday after her ex-husband failed to return them home. Chelan County Sheriff's Office 'Thanks to our Marshall's Office tracking down some good leads that we feel are giving us more of an insight into Travis' mindset – where he may have gone to,' Morrison added. A $20,000 reward is available for information leading to Decker's arrest.

Family says North Texas man was killed by car driven by his best friend

The man who was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident May 30 in west Fort Worth has died, according to his family. Daniel Lester was a beloved brother and father, and his family is 'shattered by grief' at the unexpected loss, his sister Presley Lester said in a GoFundMe. Daniel Lester, 30, died June 1 in the intensive care unit at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office website. He was on life support following the accident, KDFW-TV reported, and his family chose to donate his organs. Officers were called to the hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Clifford Street and Western Trade Drive shortly after 11 p.m. They found Lester, who had been been struck by a car. Information from a witness helped officers find the suspect's vehicle, police said. Thirty-six-year-old David Hall was arrested Saturday and faces a charge of collision involving serious bodily injury, according to court records. Presley Lester told KDFW that Hall and her brother were best friends. Another friend who saw the accident told Daniel Lester's family that a truck narrowly missed hitting Daniel's car. Daniel got out of his car to confront the driver, and Hall was also at the scene. The driver of the truck fled, KDFW reported. Hall started to give chase and hit Daniel Lester in the process. 🚨 More top stories from our newsroom: → Warrant: Stranger shot 3 and 'walked away calmly' → Tarrant County approves new commissioners precincts → Woman's body pulled from Trinity River [Get our breaking news alerts.] Hall's attorney, MarQuetta Clayton, was not immediately available for comment Wednesday afternoon. Police said they couldn't confirm the relationship between Hall and Daniel Lester. Hall was held in the Tarrant County Jail after his arrest but has since bonded out. Additional charges against him may be possible after Daniel Lester's death. Presley Lester said in a public Facebook post Monday that her family believes that Hall hit Daniel by accident, but he still needs to face consequences. 'While it is understandable that he was frightened and shaken, abandoning a 'best friend' in a life-threatening situation is inexcusable, regardless of the potential repercussions,' Presley Lester said in her post. Daniel Lester leaves behind two young sons, according to the GoFundMe. His family is raising money to help with his funeral expenses.

‘Out of hand': Inside missing girl's flat

New images of the house where missing teenager Pheobe Bishop resided before her disappearance reveal the squalor she was living in. Pheobe was living with two housemates – James Wood and Tamika Bromley – at a property in Gin Gin before her disappearance on May 15. One woman said junk accumulating at the property had gotten 'out of hand' in recent months. People in town had complained on local Facebook groups about dogs at the Millen St house barking and howling more than usual. The same woman told NewsWire she had heard yelling and seen Pheobe walking around town, where she 'always seemed happy'. 'Each week there was more junk coming out,' the woman said of the house, clarifying she never felt unsafe close by. The quiet street was mostly deserted on Thursday, save for several media crews. Pictures from the house depict its derelict state, with the front lawn still strewn with rubbish weeks after the police cordoned off the property. Part of the police tape had fallen away. A bus is parked outside of the house – carrying a crudely-drawn sign saying 'Let it Ride' – with its door open but most of its curtains drawn shut. Photos inside capture junk piled up to the roof. A computer chair is seen blocking the doors while the shelves, sides and floors are littered with containers, eskies, cooking lids and rubbish. Some are piled into a cabinet which has been crammed onto the bus. Pheobe was last seen by her housemates, Mr Wood and Ms Bromley, who drove her to Bundaberg Airport from their home in Gin Gin on May 15. Mr Wood, 34, was taken into police custody in Bundaberg on Wednesday and assisted police with inquiries. 'Detectives are continuing to run through several lines of inquiry as investigations continue and will conduct physical searches when required,' a police spokesman told NewsWire. 'Police are continuing to appeal for any information about Pheobe's whereabouts. 'For investigative reasons, there is no further information available.' Searches for the 17-year-old spanned her home in Gin Gin near Bundaberg, and the Good Night Scrub National Park. Police and State Emergency Services spent five days searching the national park for any sign of the missing teen, before that operation was suspended on May 28. Police on Wednesday announced they had called off all physical searches for Pheobe. 'There are currently no physical searches for Pheobe at this stage, however physical searches will happen as needed and as information is provided,' the spokesman told NewsWire. 'Investigations are ongoing and police are continuing to run out several lines of inquiry.' More to come.
