160 Students To Be Pioneers Of Form Six Education Programme At Two Public Universities
KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (Bernama) -- A total of 160 students will be selected as pioneers of a Form Six Education Programme at two public universities starting June 10, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
She said the pilot programme, to be implemented at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), reflects the ministry's continuous commitment to enhancing the quality and prestige of Form Six education.
"So, InsyaAllah, on June 10, we will receive the first intake of 100 students at UKM and 60 students at USM.
'They (students) will need to apply and meet specific criteria. We are truly looking forward to this pilot initiative," she said after officiating the launch and handover of the Anti-Corruption Heroes Comic Collection published by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) at the World Trade Centre (WTC), here today.
The Form Six Education Programme at public universities was announced by the Education Ministry last May 19.
According to her, the teaching staff for the programme will be provided by the ministry, and the teachers are already prepared to implement the pilot programme.
Fadhlina said that in its initial phase, the programme would be carried out at two public universities first, before being expanded to other public universities based on need and suitability.
Commenting on the launch of the comic collection, Fadhlina said it was one of the government's grassroots efforts to expose children at the primary school level to anti-corruption awareness.
"Hopefully, with these comics and interactive videos we plan to feature on the Digital Educational Learning Initiative Malaysia (DELIMa) platform, the ministry can further strengthen advocacy and public awareness, especially among our children, on the importance of combating corruption,' she said.

Chi explained that at that time, locals and soldiers from the Hunan, Anhui and Guangdong provinces who remained in Taiwan fought side by side to resist the Japanese. Due to overwhelming disparities in weaponry and equipment, more than 14,000 people were killed over the course of four-and-a-half months. Pien Feng-kwei, a professor with the Taiwan Ocean University, said that during the 50 years of Japanese colonial rule in Taiwan, the island's people continued their resistance unbroken and in various forms. However, he noted, "Taiwan independence" forces have deliberately ignored or even distorted Taiwan's history of anti-Japanese resistance and anti-colonial struggle. He said the national oil company's move to downsize its workforce was instead due to global challenges. The restructuring process, he said, is necessary given the decline in crude oil prices. Fadillah also plans to meet with PETRONAS to get more details on the restructuring process. 'That is why PETRONAS has to relook its entire operation. 'I am planning a meeting with them to get a briefing on the matter and to ensure that the number of lay-offs can be reduced, if not avoided,' Bernama reported him as saying after the Aidiladha sacrificial event at Taman Hussein Mosque here yesterday. His Royal Highness said it was especially disheartening that those exploiting the situation were Muslims themselves, who were willing to deceive their fellow believers for personal gain. Sultan Sharafuddin decreed that stern action be taken against any individual or travel agency offering haj packages that take advantage of and deceive Muslims. The Ruler said this in a post on the Selangor Royal Office's Facebook page, in which His Royal Highness and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, extended Hari Raya Aidiladha greetings to Muslims across Malaysia.
