Wicked and Willy Wonka inspire 2025 World Book Day costumes
Wicked and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory were among the inspirations for some of this year's World Book Day costumes.
The international event, now in its 28th year, celebrates reading and books.
Children across the UK swapped their school uniforms on Thursday to dress up as their favourite book character.
Siblings Belle Glaze, aged seven, and Eddie Glaze, aged three, from Dorset, in south-west England, dressed as Glinda, the good witch from the musical Wicked, and Blippi, a character from an educational YouTube channel.
Belle said she felt 'amazing' in her costume and very 'Glindafied', while Eddie said he loved dressing up in his character's favourite colours blue and orange.
Grace Carroll, aged six, from Wigan in Greater Manchester, dressed as Willie Wonka from Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
Grace said she spent three days creating a book in a box display for school based on the Roald Dahl novel.
World Book Day was created by Unesco in 1995, and it is celebrated across more than 100 countries worldwide. The first World Book Day in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997.
World Book Day is always held on the first Thursday in March.

It's far cry from what he was doing at a similar age to the youngsters, with Bol being sent to prison for three years at just 15 years old for robbery. He also found himself wrapped up in dealing Class A drugs and ultimately being convicted for that too. Speaking to The Times, he recalled: "I wanted things my mum didn't deem necessary, like designer clothes, trainers, and that led me down a slippery slope. "I stopped playing football and I started selling and smoking weed, and then it went on to be more Class A drugs. I was just in a bubble thinking this is going to be my career path." After being let out of prison for the first time, Bol turned his attention to rap music - amassing millions of YouTube views for his songs about crime. He added: "I came out and got adulation from my peers, it boosts your ego, and I just started rapping about what I was going through. "It was more about selling drugs. And was even stabbed in the arm and leg while sitting in the front seat of his car by four members of rival gang at one point. But after turning 21 and finisng himself in an adult prison, Bol's life changed thanks an officer who encouraged him to complete FA Level One and Community Sports Leader coaching courses. He recalled that decision helped him "break the cycle" and he started to volunteer at a local football club when he was released from prison. In 2012 he set up his own grassroots team, AC United, which snowballed into an eight-team club with performances catching the attention of top scouts. A standout player at AC United, Clinton Mola, was invited for a trial at Chelsea - with Bol accompanying him to the training ground. Upon his arrival at Cobham, Bol was mobbed by a group of U14 players - including a young Reece James - who recognised him from his music videos. Recognising the sway and impact that Bol had in the local community, Chelsea decided to hire him as a member of their coaching staff. They also signed Mola, who now plays for Bristol Rovers in League One and represented England from U16 to U21 levels. Bol recalled being concerned that Chelsea would turn him away after a DBS check of his criminal history. He said to The Times: "Rightfully so, because there were obviously reservations after what showed up [on the DBS check]. 'I did a risk assessment and they asked me how I ended up in these situations and what I'd done to change my behaviour to ensure I wouldn't fall back into those old patterns. I got the role and I was there for just over five years.' From there Bol's career in football scouting has taken over and he made the switch to Arsenal's academy in 2020 - where he has been ever since. Working alongside academy manager Per Mertesacker, Bol's role is to manage a group of scouts and make sure they are always covering all parts of East London. Along his way he has helped unearth and develop some of of the Premier League's most exciting young talents. Zain Silcott-Duberry, who made his Prem debut for Bournemouth this season, is just one of the youngsters he has had a hand in developing. While 14-year-old Trey Faromo, another Bol has helped identify, is thought to be one of the country's brightest talents and recently made his debut for Chelsea Under-18. 'I married Nigerian toyboy 43 years younger and everyone always has one comment'

When Kay and 25-year-old Ablack connected on social media, they had no idea that it would lead to marriage. Just three days after meeting in person, they got engaged. People online have been sceptical about their romance, but they insist it's real love. Speaking on YouTube channel Love Don't Judge about when they first met, Kay, who is from the US, shared: "He liked something I posted. I don't even remember what it was. He went from somebody who liked my post to my very best friend. I could tell him any and everything and it just grew stronger and stronger." Kay said she "had a dream" about visiting Nigeria and it made her want to visit. She spoke to Ablack about visiting, and he booked her flight and helped her with her other travel needs. Molly-Mae Hague reacts to Love Island audition tape and first time meeting Tommy
The next series of Love Island is due to begin on Monday night with host Maya Jama and the helm and plenty of new singles ready to find love Molly-Mae Hague has reacted to her Love Island audition tape and first time meeting Tommy Fury. The mum-of-one shared a vlog to her popular YouTube channel where she shared a video of herself watching her audition tape in a bid to enter the villa. She starts the clip by laughing at the camera while her audition tape plays in the background. The previous Molly-Mae in the tape talks about how a ex told her she was "too much to handle" before they split up but then Molly looks at the camera in her vlog and says "what am I actually talking about" as it seems she's struggling to recall the moment. Molly previously said that she gave herself "the ick" watching her audition tape back. She explained to her fans: "Basically Fran [her manager] got an email a few weeks ago saying that they were doing a 10 years of Love Island programme to celebrate the 10-year anniversary. "They said that my audition tape is going to be shown and Fran was like 'Is there anyway we could see the audition tape before it gets put on TV considering Molly hasn't seen this in coming up to seven years?' "I've never actually seen it, because it obviously it was filmed and I never got to see it, I actually forgot that even one existed to be honest. "And it's about to be on TV in a minute and I have literally zero idea what to expect, because I've never seen it before and I'm actually really scared as to what I'm going to say, what I'm going to ever look like, or sound like. "Maybe they might not show mine, but I think they will because Fran got told they definitely are going to and they said we can't show you a sneak peek." The vlog then skips to Tommy, who hasn't been on her YouTube channel for months due to their split. However it looks like he's back as they pair recently confirmed that they are once again an item. Molly shows fans that she's watching old episodes of Love Island which includes the moment when Tommy and Molly first met. Tommy giggles as he says "the wanderer returns" before Molly explains they are reminiscing on how they met. Tommy says: "Do you know what it is? Genuinely, I miss that place. I do miss it because you had no worries in there. You didn't have a phone, which you know I love. You had your own little clique in there, you got on with people, it was good wasn't it." Molly and Tommy recently confirmed that they are back together after taking months apart due to his struggles with alcohol. The iconic couple split up last year as a result of the boxer's issues with alcohol which was revealed on Molly's documentary Molly-Mae: Behind It All. However, it seems that the couple couldn't stay apart and are now giving things another go. The two of them share their daughter Bambi together.
