Per the synopsis, Dog & Bull is billed as 'a dark, hard-boiled crime-thriller, with black comedy undertones, in which legendary actor McDowell stars as a fugitive criminal hiding out as a pub landlord who questions his identity when he gets discovered by a psychotic hitman (Hassell), who is also his biggest fan.'
McDowell grew up as the son of a publican, who ran a pub called the Bull and Dog in Lancashire, England. He's known for the likes of The Raging Moon, Caligula, Blue Thunder, Mr. Magoo, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, The Artist and Bombshell. Since 2022, he has starred in Canadian sitcom Son of a Critch.
Hassell is riding high off of Disney+'s soapy 1980s-set drama Rivals. He's also had roles in Suburbicon, The Miniaturist, The Boys, Cowboy Bebop, His Dark Materials and Locked In.
Essential Film Group's James Norrie said, 'Dog & Bull is a masterful re-invention of the British crime thriller, and the chemistry between the legendary Malcolm McDowell and superstar in the making Alex Hassell is nothing short of electric. We can't wait for audiences to see it'.
'I am excited to be bringing a chainsaw wielding Malcolm McDowell to cinema screens, showing he is still ready for some 'ultra violence,'' said Kevin Harvey, while Tiernan Hanby added, 'Essential Film Group are the perfect partner for this film — they have the exact mix of creative spark and commercial understanding to help shape and position the best version of the film.'
Blackwater is also producing the upcoming untitled Jimmy White biopic starring Ray Winstone and Anuerin Barnard, along with Heavyweight, which stars Jordan Bolger, Nicholas Pinnock and Jason Isaacs and releases later this year.
Hassell is represented by United Agents, Gersh and Sol22. McDowell is represented by Chris Roe Management.

Dog Being Carried Off by the Police for ‘Ruff Behavior' Is Too Funny

Dog Being Carried Off by the Police for 'Ruff Behavior' Is Too Funny originally appeared on PetHelpful. Uh oh, Paw Patrol has arrived! People in a waiting room were cracking up after seeing security cart off a dog in the most hilarious way possible. They were taking him away just like they would a human! Guess his behavior was too ruff. Miroslava Banda was caught off guard by the unusual sight. It's not everyday you see a pup caught red handed. Luckily Banda had her phone out when the funny incident happened. We don't know what the dog did to deserve being taken out of the waiting room like this, but he's innocent! We just know it. He's a good boy officers, we promise!People in the comments section were cracking up. 'The way he's being escorted,' wrote one person. 'Couldn't [they] just pick him up at least??' someone else wondered. 'Why are they sooo aggressive!!!! Whatever they said he did, he didn't do it!!!' joked another commenter. 'That doggy has the right to an attorney,' teased another person. Obviously this is all in good fun, but the clip does serve as a gentle reminder that you should probably use a leash to remove your dog from a room — not their paws! If your pup misbehaves at home, we'd say this is a pretty extreme way to get them to listen. Instead, you want to teach them discipline without doing any lasting harm on the pup. Think about using positive reinforcement instead of negative. Attention could be the best way to train your dog to know the difference between wrong and right. Attention is a reward to a dog, so if you notice them doing something wrong it's actually better not to react. Instead, ignore the behavior and redirect them to something you want them to do. You can also use a calm noise interrupter to stop their unwanted behavior. Just keep calm, your dog can pick up on your energy more than you think. Sadly, we don't know what happened to the dog after the video ended. But we'd like to think the pup got to speak to his attorney and demanded a lawyer! Looking for more PetHelpful updates? First look at Andy Serkis' animated Animal Farm goes light on Orwellian satire, heavy on Seth Rogen

It's kind of ridiculous how long Andy Serkis has been trying to get an animated version of George Orwell's satirical allegory Animal Farm made: The first industry reports of the project (which was set up at Netflix for a minute, before they dropped it) date all the way back to 2012, when it was still being touted as Serkis' feature directorial debut. (He's since directed five films, most recently Venom sequel Let There Be Carnage, with his Lord Of The Rings film The Hunt For Gollum still on the way.) Now, though, the first glimpses of the animated Animal Farm have finally begun to roll out, and they're certain to delight scholars of Orwell's work who are also absolutely massive fans of Seth Rogen doing improvisational riffing during a voice take. Rogen is, of course, playing Orwell's tyrannical boar Napoleon in the animated adaptation, making for what we're fairly sure will be mainstream film's most vocally chill Joseph Stalin allegory ever. The first look released for the film also features a falsetto'd Gaten Matarazzo as 'Lucky,' who appears to be an original character for the film, and who gets manipulated by Napoleon into viewing him as a father figure—while receiving some rhetoric about how animals should stick within their species groups. (We don't get to hear Rogen's take on 'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others' here, although the script feints at it for a second.) Kieran Culkin also appears as the film's version of Orwell's Squeaker, who, in this scene, is less a collective stand-in for state propaganda, and more a vehicle for mild social awkwardness comedy. Serkis has never been shy about the fact that he intended to soften Orwell's often-bleak fable a bit, the better to get kids watching. More than a decade ago, he told reporters 'We are not going to handle the politics in a heavy-handed fashion,' instead making a more 'emotionally centered' version of the story. (At the time, he was also taking about the movie as a heavily motion-capture-based project: That seems downplayed in the clip, although Napoleon's facial movements definitely have some Rogen-esque touches to them.) Animal Farm is set to have its world premiere on June 9, at the Annecy International Animal Film Festival. More from A.V. Napoleon's iconic hat, red foilo and throne to hit the auction block —but will Elon Musk buy them?

Elon Musk could become the owner of a host of French conqueror Napoleon Bonaparte's personal items — if the current seller has his way. The Tesla billionaire would be perfect to purchase the collection, according to businessman Pierre-Jean Chalençon, because his spirit reminds him of the late 18th century military commander and Emperor. Speaking of the items coming up for sale, Chalençon told The Post: 'They are like my children. And I wish Elon Musk, the new Napoleon, to buy everything, to keep my children all together.' Advertisement 10 Edouard Detaille's painting of Napoleon during the Italian campaign may fetch more than $100,000 at Sotheby's auction later this month. Sotheby's The collection is 'one of the most significant Napoleonic offerings ever to come to market,' according to auctioneer Sotheby's. It includes more than 100 items such as one of the Napoleon's iconic bicorne hats, his coronation sword, a folding camp bed, ornate throne and even a sleeve from one of his consular garments, worn when he led the French Republic as First Consul for five years beginning in 1799. The sale is scheduled for June 25 in Paris, but a special exhibit is opening at Sotheby's Upper East Side showroom on Thursday. Here are some of the highlights: Bicorne hat Advertisement Ever the trailblazer, Napoleon was known for wearing his bicorne (two cornered) hat side-to-side across his head, rather than the more conventional front to back, with the point at the front, developing his own style. The hat on sale at Sotheby's was created by Poupard, Napoleon's hatmaker, and was a gift from the Emperor to General Georges Mouton, his trusted aide-de-camp. Napoleon praised Mouton's important role in the Battle of Essling in May 1809, calling him 'a lion.' Napoleon biographer Andrew Roberts told The Post the hat, estimated to sell between $570,000 and $913,0000, will likely fetch significantly more once Napoleon 'fanatics with money' start bidding. There are only 17 such hats that belonged to the French statesman, who died in 1821, in existence today, he said. Advertisement 10 A bicorne hat that Napoleon gifted to one of his most important generals, is scheduled to be auctioned at Sotheby's sale of Pierre-Jean Chalençon's collection of Napoleonic artifacts. Sotheby's Napoleon's sleeve The sleeve, which has a pre-auction estimate between $22,000 and $34,000 was kept as a souvenir by Napoleon's tailor after he had removed it when a servant spilled sauce on it. 'It was kept in the tailor's family as a treasured heirloom,' according to the Sotheby's catalogue. 10 A sleeve from one of Napoleon's garments will be auctioned later this month in Paris. The sleeve was removed by Napoleon's tailor after a servant spilled sauce on it. It could fetch more than $30,000. Sotheby's Advertisement 10 Josephine was the love of Napoleon's life although he divorced her when she could not produce a male heir. AFP via Getty Images The red folio Also up for auction is a 'monumental' red leather folio that likely contained the certificate of divorce between Napoleon and his beloved wife Josephine de Beauharnai, as well as passionate love letters between the couple. Napoleon split from his wife in 1809 when she could not provide him a male heir. He then married Marie Louise, daughter of the Emperor of Austria. However, he was bereft at losing his 'lucky star' and continued to correspond with Josephine after their split. A similar red portfolio, which contained official, smaller format documents, is preserved in the National Archives in France, according to Sotheby's. The pre-auction estimate is listed as more than $90,000. 10 The red portfolio once held the certificate of divorce between Napoleon and Josephine. Napoleon later married Marie Louise, the Duchess of Parma. Sotheby's Josephine's dressing table A mahogany, gilt-bronze dressing table used by Josephine is listed between $228,000 to $456,000. It was commissioned by Napoleon for the Chateau de Saint-Cloud, their summer residence where he was proclaimed Emperor of France on May 18, 1804. Advertisement The dressing table was kept in the empress's bedroom, which was decorated with green and white drapes with gold accents, and a bed that was shaped by a pulpit. 10 The mahogany dressing table was used by Empress Josephine, the love of Napoleon's life. Sotheby's Marriage certificate Chalençon is also selling the couple's religious marriage certificate. Executed on December 1, 1804, the certificate formalized their marriage on the eve of Napoleon's coronation. The document is handwritten, and valued between$23,000 to $57,000. Chalençon bought the certificate from businessman Malcolm Forbes, and said the insurance alone on the item was $1 million. Advertisement 10 The religious marriage certificate from Napoleon's marriage to his beloved Josephine will be part of the Sotheby's auction. Napoleon divorced his wife after she failed to produce a male heir. Sotheby's Camp bed The folding 'campaign bed' was invented for Napoleon by 'Father Desouches,' one of his favorite designers. Napoleon was so enamored of the bed, which he used on military campaigns, that he gave them away as diplomatic gifts and also bequeathed them to his son, humbly noting that it was a 'modest legacy' that would preserve the memory of 'a father the universe will forever speak of.' Sotheby's lists the reserve on the bed as between $45,000 and $68,000. 10 A portable folding camp bed used by Napoleon, who was so attached to it that he bequeathed to his son, Napoleon II Sotheby's The throne Advertisement Chalençon's most beloved piece in the auction is Napoleon's throne from the Stupingi Palace in Turin. It is the most expensive piece of furniture in the collection, estimated to sell for up to US$455,254. The backrest is embroidered with a large 'N' and according to Sotheby's, the chair was made for Napoleon's stay at the palace on the way to his crowning as the King of Italy in Milan in 1805. 10 Pierre-Jean's favorite piece from his storied collection is the plush red throne with an embroidered 'N' that Napoleon kept at his ornate palace in Turin, Italy. Sotheby's For Chalencon, 55, who has been collecting Napoleonic artifacts since he was 14 years old, parting with a large part of his collection has been extremely difficult, he told The Post this week. He says he's selling up to get out of debt and start a new life. Advertisement But he is hanging on to a few prized items — Napoleon's snuff box from his exile on St. Helena (1815) and his coronation gloves. I worked all my life to create his collection,' he said.'Like Sherlock Holmes, I looked everywhere, and traveled all over the world. I am not from a wealthy family, but I can tell you that I have a great eye.'
