Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison and film director Baz Luhrmann receive top gongs in King's Birthday Honours - read the full list of awards
Scott Morrison gets the highest possible accolade in the King's Birthday Honours List alongside prominent figures including filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and his Academy Award-winning costume designer partner, Catherine Martin.
Australia's 30th prime minister, who led the nation from 2018 until the coalition's 2022 election loss, was recognised for 'eminent service to the people and parliament of Australia, particularly as prime minister'.
He famously declared 'miracles happen' when re-elected in 2019, and Sunday's news of his appointment to the Companion (AC) of the Order of Australia could come as a surprise to some people, given his low approval ratings at the time he left office.
But since the establishment of the Order of Australia in 1975, every ex-prime minister has been appointed a Companion except Paul Keating, who declined because he believed the honours should be reserved for those whose community work went unrecognised.
Mr Morrison's honour specifically points to his 'notable contributions to global engagement, to leadership of the national Covid-19 response, to economic initiatives, and to national security enhancements, especially through leadership of Australia's contribution to AUKUS'.
He received significant support during the early days of the pandemic, with an April 2020 Newspoll revealing he had the highest satisfaction rating for any prime minister since Kevin Rudd in 2009.
But by the end of his second term, he had become the most unpopular major party leader since at least 1987, according to an Australian National University study.
The lead up to the 2022 election was plagued with blunders as Mr Morrison crash tackled a child, performed a ukulele rendition of April Sun in Cuba and took off a protective mask to gaze straight into welding sparks.
He was also criticised for saying, 'I don't hold a hose, mate' when questioned over his decision to go on a family trip to Hawaii during the 2019 Black Summer bushfires.
And shortly before leaving politics, Mr Morrison stunned parliamentary colleagues when it was revealed he had secretly appointed himself to five ministerial positions during the pandemic.
The King's Birthday Honours List names 581 people in the General Division of the Order of Australia, including academics, ex-sport stars, leaders and creatives.
'These honours recognise the selfless service, integrity, achievement, creativity, and care that flourish across our country,' Governor-General Sam Mostyn said.
Fourteen people were appointed to the highest honour, AC.
Luhrmann and Martin, best known for their work on films including Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby and Strictly Ballroom, received the accolade for their service to the arts.
Environmental scientist Mark Howden, who served as a vice chair on the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, was also appointed to AC alongside business leader Jennifer Westacott and NASA climate science centre co-director Graeme Stephens.
Bangerang and Wiradjuri woman Geraldine Atkinson has been named an Officer (AO) of the Order of Australia for her work with Indigenous communities and reconciliation.

Kanye West's wife Bianca Censori sets up her own companies in mystery solo venture
is reportedly stepping out from Kanye West 's shadow as she set up her own business in a mysterious solo move. The 30-year-old architect has launched her own company in the U.S., Bianca Censori Inc., according to the US Sun, with the disgraced rapper, 47, listed as its director. She has also reportedly registered a firm in Australia - simply named Bianca Censori - which operates out of the Melbourne suburb of Alphington, where her parents live, with hints that the business may be a cosmetics brand. has reached out to a representative for Bianca and Kanye for comment. The new companies appear to be the first signs of Bianca taking the lead on a project, as she reportedly registered her eponymous brand in California in May. She previously worked as an architect for his Yeezy brand beginning in 2020, and they married two years later. Although she is listed as the CEO and secretary for Bianca Censori Inc., Kanye is reportedly listed on the registration as a director of the company. He's also connected via his attorney, Manoj Shah, who is providing legal services for Bianca's company. So far, there are few details about exactly what Bianca plans to do with the companies, however, the paperwork reportedly indicates that Hussein Lalani is working as the chief financial officer, and Lalani is known for promoting cosmetics. He is the founder of the skincare company Zensa, which offers microblading products, home tattoo kits, and accompanying numbing creams. Hussein Lalani reportedly advertised that Kanye planned to release the cryptocurrency 'meme coin' $YZY, which was initially described as a way to pay on the rapper's Yeezy website. Despite Hussein's press release, which indicated the crytopcurrency would begin selling on February 27, the release was inexplicably delayed inevitably. Lalani allegedly came into the famous couple's orbit after he met the couple at the West Hollywood condo they lived in last year. He's also reportedly listed on the corporate statement of information at the same address as the condo building.

Singer Casey Donovan reveals that her career has 'taken a toll' on her mental and physical health
Casey Donovan has opened up about the tremendous toll her busy work schedule has had on her mind and body. The 37-year-old, who soared to fame after winning Australian Idol in 2004, said that the last six years have been so frantic for her its left a 'mark' on her mental health and physical health. Casey, who is planning a wedding with fiancée Renee Sharples, has kept up a frantic pace since 2021, including starring in the musicals 9 to 5, & Juliet, and Sister Act. 'I haven't really stopped in the last six to seven years,' she told Stellar Magazine on Saturday. 'I've just kind of jumped from show to show to show. I've done the eight shows a week. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'It certainly does take its toll on your body and your mental health, but I don't take this for granted. I've very grateful. 'Because I know what it is like to have everything stop, and what it is like to never stop.' Elsewhere in the chat the star appeared surprised by her continuing success. 'I never looked into the future and saw where I would be today,' Donovan tells Stellar. 'It's a really beautiful thing.' Casey, meanwhile, is not taking any time off and is currently getting set to appear in the Broadway success Kimberly Akimbo. First performed in the US in 2001, the Australian version is currently in rehearsal and will premiere in Adelaide before a season in Melbourne in July. It comes after Casey recently opened up about her upcoming wedding to fiancée Renee Sharples after announcing her engagement to her long-time partner in June last year. During an appearance on The Project, Casey gave an insight into how the planning of the nuptials is progressing. Appearing on the beleaguered Channel Ten show to promote her upcoming musical Kimberley Akimbo, it wasn't too long before Casey was pressed on details for the big day. 'We keep chatting about it and we're like: "do we have something big? Do We have something small?" she said. 'Do we just run away and do it ourselves and then throw a party? Which I haven't told Renee, I'm so sorry,' she said to her fiancée down the camera. Casey revealed that she and Renee were planning to tie the knot in June last year. It's certainly been a busy time for Casey who has recently starred in successful runs of musicals & Juliet and Sister Act. She also recently partnered with weight loss program Juniper to help to achieve her fitness goals. 'I've kind of been on, I guess, my own little journey through health and fitness in the last few months when they approached [me],' Casey told Daily Mail Australia in April. She added that, with medication already a part of her weight loss regimen, she was looking for some extra help and direction. 'I kind of I sat with it and being already that I was already on a form of medication, I was kind of at that point where I needed that extra bit of help, she said. 'It kind of came at the perfect time, because I was trying to just bumble through life with all the other things that I knew that I picked up from other weight loss programs. Just kind of fumbling my way through.'
