ESPN's latest bracketology for 2026 NCAA Tournament has Florida basketball seeded here
The 2025-26 men's college basketball season is still just under six months away and the 2026 NCAA Tournament is even further, but ESPN's Joe Lunardi remains dedicated to his task of composing bracketology updates for the next installment of March Madness.
Lunardi will be providing updates once a month until October as he navigates the various offseason topics that invariably affect his outlook. This time around, he is considering every transfer, portal maneuver and NBA draft entry in his projections as he fine-tunes his crystal ball.
ESPN published the latest edition of his bracketology on Tuesday, which includes the NCAA national champion Florida Gators among the higher seeds. Take a look at where the Orange and Blue — as well as other programs — stand in the projections.
Florida basketball's seeding in ESPN's 2026 bracketology
In Lunardi's first installment of his bracketology, he had the Gators as a No. 3 seed in the South Region, matched up with the 14th-seeded Furman Paladins in Tampa, Florida. In his recent update, Florida remains a No. 3 seed but is now in the Midwest Region, where Todd Golden and Co. are projected to face off with the same Paladins, also played in Tampa.
Keep in mind, the program made a huge wave by adding former Arkansas Razorbacks guard Boogie Fland through the transfer portal on Tuesday after the bracketology was released. So expect a good boost in June when Lunardi releases the next one.
Top seeds in ESPN's 2026 bracketology
Two of the top four seeds in ESPN's second 2026 bracketology are the Houston Cougars, who moved from the West to the Midwest, along with the Duke Blue Devils, who also made a move from the East to the South. The Purdue Boilermakers shifted over to the East from the Midwest, while the UConn Huskies displaced the St. John's Red Raiders among the top seeds and took over the West.
SEC schools in ESPN's 2026 bracketology
The Southeastern Conference is once again represented by a nation-best 13 schools in Lunardi's second bracketology for 2026, headlined by the Kentucky Wildcats at the No. 2 seed in the South after landing in the Midwest last time.
The Tennessee Volunteers (West) and Florida (Midwest) are the No. 3 seeds representing the league, followed by the Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 4, East), Auburn Tigers (No. 5, South), Missouri Tigers (No. 7, East), Oklahoma Sooners (No. 7, West), Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 8, East), Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 8, Midwest), Vanderbilt Commodores (No. 8, West), Texas Longhorns (No. 9, South), Georgia Bulldogs (No. 10, Midwest) and Ole Miss Rebels (No. 11, East).
Note that the Rebels are among the Last Four In and are projected to participate in the First Four play-in round. UGA is listed among the Last Four Byes.

The Mansfield Timberview incoming senior is also a noted track star, which also plays in Texas A&M's favor, given the program's elite status. According to 247Sports, Collins is currently positioned as the 35th-ranked safety and the 56th-ranked prospect in Texas. Lindy's Sports ranks Florida inside preseason top 15, Lagway a top-10 QB With the college sports world shifting its attention back to football as the summer gets underway, Florida remains a preseason top-25 program, largely thanks to the hype that follows sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway. A week ago, Lindy's Sports released its highly respected preseason edition, and the Gators check in at No. 15 with a clear path to the College Football Playoff. While SEC bias might be a real thing with national media coverage of college sports, Florida's top-ranked strength of schedule and strong finish to the 2024 campaign warrant this kind of preseason rankings. Lagway is indeed one of the top signal callers in his class, and the Orange and Blue pulled off several upset wins with him under center as a relatively inexperienced true freshman. Lindy's has him ranked No. 7 among college quarterbacks entering the season, behind players such as Carson Beck (Miami), Arch Manning (Texas), and Garrett Nussmeier (LSU). The Gators will have plenty of chances to prove they belong inside the top 15, too. Lindy's ranked the three teams listed above are inside the top 10, and they're all on Florida's schedule. After starting the season with home games against LIU and South Florida, UF heads to Baton Rouge and Miami Gardens to face No. 5 LSU and No. 10 Miami in back-to-back weeks. Then it's back to The Swamp against top-ranked Texas, featuring Manning and Co. Texas A&M and Mississippi State are both outside the top 25, with the latter being the lowest-ranked SEC team at No. 84 out of 136 teams. No. 9 Georgia is next on Florida's schedule, followed by road games at Kentucky and No. 19 Ole Miss. ESPN names Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass one of the top 25 plays in football since 2000 One of the more famous plays in the history of Nebraska football was recently named one of college football's greatest moments of the last two decades. ESPN ranked college football's top 25 plays since 2000, and at No. 21 on the list was "Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass" from the Huskers' 20-10 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners on Oct. 27, 2001. Eight ESPN writers and two editors nominated fifty-one plays, and that list was whittled down to 25 plays. The eight writers then ranked the moments from 1 to 25, with 25 points awarded for the top play, 24 for second place, and so on, until play No. 25. With the No. 3-ranked Cornhuskers leading the No. 2-ranked Sooners 13-10 in the fourth quarter and the ball at its own 37-yard line, head coach Frank Solich called Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass. ESPN described the play in detail. "His heroics mostly came from running the option, but on this play against Oklahoma, Crouch handed off the ball, peeled out into the flat and up the field as a receiver. The original ball carrier, Thunder Collins, handed it to Mike Stuntz on a reverse, and he hit Crouch sprinting down the sideline for a 63-yard touchdown." Nebraska would go on to win the game 20-10, and Eric Crouch would win the Heisman Trophy in one of the closest votes in the award's history. Crouch beat Florida sophomore quarterback Rex Grossman 770 points to 708 votes. Crouch's 770 points are the fewest by a Heisman winner since Terry Baker won the award in 1962 with 707 points.
