Horrific moment sword killer rammed van into victim seconds before he stabbed tragic 14-year-old schoolboy death in video showing how Hainault rampage unfolded
This is the horrific moment a drug-crazed killer rammed a van into a screaming victim before he 'decapitated' a schoolboy in a 20-minute sword rampage.
Marcus Monzo, 37, ambushed Daniel Anjorin, 14, as he walked to school in Hainault, east London, on April 30 last year.
The Brazilian also tried to kill Yasmin Mechem-Whitfield, Henry De Los Rios Polina, Sindy Arias and Donato Iwule in the horror attack which began at 6.45am.
Shocking new footage released by police today shows the moment Monzo 'deliberately' smashed his van into Mr Iwule, catapulting him into a nearby garden.
The amateur musician then jumped out of his vehicle and slashed the screaming victim in the neck with his Samurai sword.
Mr Iwule yelled in agony 'I don't know you' as Monzo approached on foot wielding the 60cm blade.
The Brazilian replied: 'I don't care, I will kill you' as he swung towards the victim's neck and torso before Mr Iwule managed to escape.
The video, which also shows Monzo's van reversing out of a driveway and heading down a busy street, reveals how the start of the Hainault rampage unfolded.
A jury today found Monzo guilty of murder, attempted murder, aggravated burglary by entering a property with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, wounding with intent and having an article with a blade.
The Old Bailey previously heard Monzo believed he was a character from The Hunger Games, in which contestants fight to the death on a TV show.
After attacking, Mr Iwule, who was walking to work, he then encountered schoolboy Daniel.
Prosecutor Tom Little, KC, said: 'He was simply walking to school, minding his own business, looking forward to the day ahead.
'His life was snuffed out in an instant. In fact, most accurately, he was slain by the defendant.'
Mr Little said Monzo 'moved quickly like a predator behind Daniel. He lifted the sword above his head, swung it downwards towards Daniel's head and neck area. Daniel instantly fell to the ground.'
Mr Little called the attack a 'near decapitation'.
In mobile phone footage a woman can be heard saying: 'F***, he just killed that boy, he just killed him right outside my house.'
A female police officer, Yasim Mechem-Whitfield, pursued Monzo through a series of alleyways before he launched a 'ferocious attack', striking her three times.
He then charged into a nearby house and attacked a couple in their bedroom, but their lives were spared when their four-year-old daughter woke up and started crying.
Monzo's rampage only ended when he was surrounded by officers in a garage area and tasered. Mr Little said it was a 'miracle' that more people were not killed that day.
He said: 'This case involved a brutal string of attacks with murderous intent primarily committed with the use of a large sword.
'The prosecution say there was a clear intention to kill a number of people that morning on the defendant's part.'
The defence argued Monzo had a pre-existing condition which made him vulnerable to psychotic episodes prompted by his use of cannabis.
But forensic psychiatrist Nigel Blackwood said Monzo was capable of curtailing his cannabis use and aware of the risks.
'The violence would not, in Professor Blackwood's opinion, have happened in the absence of such voluntary substance misuse,' Mr Little said.

When police searched Monzo's van they found a second knife which he had used to skin his cat before the attack and another 22cm sword.
Monzo later told police that his personality had switched and 'something happened, like a game happening' claiming it was 'like the movie Hunger Games'.
He told officers 'one of his personalities is a professional assassin'.

Giving evidence, a forensic scientist told jurors that recent direct DNA matches linking semen samples from Mrs Dunne's pubic hair and the blue skirt suggested they were 'one billion times' more likely to have come from Headley than from anyone else. An earlier statement from pathologist Dr Albert Hunt, who carried out Mrs Dunne's autopsy, revealed the cause of her death as asphyxiation due to strangulation and pressure on the mouth. Moment road sweeper vehicle reverses and kills elderly woman crossing the road: Police arrest man for death by dangerous driving
This is moment before a road sweeper vehicle reversed into an elderly woman and killed her as she cross the road. Khatija Umarji, 77, was crossing the road on Commercial Street in Batley at around 9.55am on Tuesday when she was hit by a rood sweeper. CCTV footage has since emerged capturing the tragic incident moments before Ms Umarji was struck as the vehicle as it reversed on the main road. Members of the public were also seen trying to lift the vehicle from the ground following the collision. A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on bail, as the police probe continues. Officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team continued to investigate what happened and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward. Detective Sergeant Nina Roper, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: 'A woman has sadly lost her life, and an investigation is under way to establish the circumstances of what has taken place. 'We have spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene but would urge anyone else who has seen any part of this incident, or the events leading up to it, to please make contact. 'Motorists who were in the area are also asked to check whether they have captured any relevant dashcam footage if they have one fitted.'
