Chargers Legend Sends Strong Message About Joe Hortiz in Los Angeles
Since the beginning of the NFL offseason Los Angeles Chargers' general manager Joe Hortiz has been under fire from the fanbase.
It felt like a pivotal summer due to the nature of the Chargers' playoff loss to the Houston Texans back in January.

Quarterback Justin Herbert threw four interceptions, but some of the mistakes he made were on his receivers for dropping passes or being in the wrong spots.
Many fans expected the team to go out and acquire a top receiver in a loaded free agent class at the position, but it never came.
Los Angeles settled on a reunion with Mike Williams and brought in former New York Jet Tyler Conklin to bolster their tight end room.
Their lack of aggression on the open market was bad enough and the fanbase's frustrations only turned into anger when Hortiz discussed his draft strategy on selecting the best player available instead of targeting a specific position.

Luckily for him, the team had a great draft that put him back in good graces with the Chargers faithful.

Los Angeles selected running back Omarion Hampton in the first round of the draft and although he isn't a pass catcher, he is considered the most explosive prospect in his class.
For an offense that is devoid of playmakers, Hampton will slide in perfectly.
The recent hot streak from Hortiz is not only resonating with fans, but he is also roping in Chargers legends into the excitement.
Former linebacker Shawne Merriman recently hopped on an episode of 'Up and Adams' where he spoke highly of the general manager.

Merriman says that Hortiz, 'gets me fired up because it feels like he's going to go play the game.'
The executive hasn't had much of a chance to show his face in Los Angeles yet, but this revelation isn't surprising.
Hortiz hails from the Baltimore Ravens organization which is known for its impressive stability and fiery culture.
If he is anything like the passionate defenders of Ravens past such as Terrell Suggs or Ray Lewis, then the man is the ultimate competitor.
He has done a great job remaining lockstep with head coach Jim Harbaugh in changing the culture in Los Angeles.
The fans in Southern California hope they can continue on this trajectory and become a storied franchise like Baltimore.

MLS players' union says dispute over Club World Cup compensation is ongoing
Major League Soccer and its players' union remain at odds over compensation for the players with the three MLS teams taking part in the Club World Cup. The Seattle Sounders, LAFC and Inter Miami are the only MLS clubs among the 32 teams playing in the Club World Cup, which starts Saturday. Each team will earn $9.55 million as a club for participating in the tournament, with a chance to win additional prize money based on performance. The Major League Soccer Players Association said Sunday that the league issued a proposal Friday that did not include any additional participation bonuses for the players and offered 'below-standard' back-end compensation. The union also said the league asked for unrelated concessions to the collective bargaining agreement. Currently, there is a provision of the collective bargaining agreement that caps the amount of prize money that can go to players at $1 million. The MLSPA believes the players are entitled to a bigger share of the funds. 'The timing, substance and retaliatory nature of the proposal sends a clear message: MLS does not respect or value players' efforts with regard to this tournament,' the MLSPA said in statement Sunday. 'Although not surprised, the players and the MLSPA are deeply disappointed by this message.' Major League Soccer issued a statement Sunday to clarify its position. 'As the Seattle Sounders FC, Inter Miami CF, and the Los Angeles Football Club prepare to compete in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, Major League Soccer has agreed to voluntarily provide additional performance-based compensation to players from the three participating clubs,' the league said. 'MLS has proposed an enhanced structure for the Club World Cup to reward both participation and competitive achievement in the tournament. In addition to the guaranteed $1 million per team for qualifying, 20 percent of all prize money earned from the group stage onward would be allocated to players. If an MLS club wins the Club World Cup, its players could collectively receive more than $24 million in performance bonuses.' The statement went on to say that MLS owners believe that performance-based incentives are appropriate given the expanded format and increased prize pool for the tournament. 'The League values the continued dedication and commitment of its players and looks forward to supporting them as they represent their clubs -- and Major League Soccer -- on the global stage this summer.' The talks between the two sides were ongoing. Last weekend, the Seattle Sounders called attention to the issue by wearing T-shirts before a match that read 'Club World Cup Ca$h Grab.' On Sunday, a number of players posted the hashtag #FairShareNow, including Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei and LAFC center back Aaron Long. 'The players remain unified in using their collective voice and demanding a fair share of the rewards earned from their hard work,' the union said. LOS ANGELES — Payton Brennan had three hits, two RBIs and scored two runs on Sunday and UCLA beat UTSA 7-0 to win the Los Angeles Super Regional and advance to the College World Series. UCLA won its first super regional title since 2013 when the Bruins claimed the program's only national championship. The No. 15 seed Bruins (46-16) advance to the College World Series and play the winner between Duke and Murray State in the CWS. Brennan hit a two-out double and Toussaint Bythewood followed with an RBI single off starter Conor Myles (5-2) to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Phoenix Call led off the fifth with a bunt single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Dean West before Roch Cholowsky drove in Call with a single to left field that made it 2-0. Former Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb expected to sign with Texans: Sources
Former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, who is a free agent, is expected to sign with the Houston Texans on Monday, according to league sources. It is expected to be a one-year deal and is contingent on Chubb passing a physical. Chubb received more lucrative offers from other teams, but he would sign a more incentive-laden contract to join Joe Mixon in Houston's backfield.
