Since it was first added to the route in 1985 it's the famous climb of the 'Mur de Huy' that has decided winner of La Flèche Wallonne each year. After a tough day in the hills of the Ardenne and a total of four ascents of this dreaded ascent it takes a mix of brute force and perfect timing to land the killer blow to defeat your rivals.

This midweek Belgian classic is all about the final ascent up the brutal 26% slopes of the legendary Mur de Huy. No other race is so dominated by a single stretch of tarmac. Flèche and the Mur are inseparable.
Victory comes down to energy management, positioning on the final climb, and launching your attack at just the right moment with legs of steel.
Returning for more in 2025 is 2023 champion Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates – XRG), the clear favourite. But even the greats can get it wrong on the Mur. Hoping to catch him off guard: Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team), Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step), Ben O'Connor (Team Jayco AlUla), Oscar Onley (Team Picnic PostNL), and last year's winner Stephen Williams (Israel – Premier Tech).

() Hours after finishing runner-up for the Hart Trophy, Leon Draisaitl put on an MVP-like performance on the league's biggest stage, showing why many believed he should have won. Advertisement Captain clutch: Draisaitl scored his fourth overtime goal of these playoffs (most ever in a single postseason) to lift the Oilers past the Panthers, 5-4 (OT), and even the Stanley Cup Final at two games apiece. He also set up two of Edmonton's goals in the historic come-from-behind win. Epic collapse: Entering Thursday, teams were 37-0 when leading a Cup Final game by three or more goals in the first period. They're now 37-1 after the Panthers blew a 3-0 lead. Epic comeback: The Oilers are the first road team to rally from a three-goal deficit in a Cup Final game since the Canadiens did it against the Seattle Metropolitans 106 years ago (1919). Super sub: Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner was replaced after the first period by journeyman backup Calvin Pickard, whose acrobatic saves paved the way for the comeback. He's now 7-0 in the postseason and could presumably take over the starting duties for Game 5 tomorrow night in Edmonton. Are you not entertained?! Three of the first four games of this final have gone to overtime, which has only happened four times before. We've also seen the two latest tying goals in Cup Final history over the past week: In Game 2, it was Edmonton's Corey Perry (17.8 seconds left) . In Game 4, it was Florida's Sam Reinhart (19.5 seconds). ⛳️ U.S. Open: Round 1 recap J.J. Spaun didn't seem phased by Oakmont in his first competitive round there. () Oakmont Country Club lived up to its billing on Thursday, yielding just 10 rounds under par during Round 1 of the U.S. Open, with an average score of +4.63. Advertisement Yes, but: For all the carnage at the famously difficult track, there was still plenty of impressive golf and highlight shots. Clubhouse leader: J.J. Spaun (-4) shot the first bogey-free round at Oakmont since Dustin Johnson's first round in 2016. Johnson went on to finish -4 and win the tournament. Rare albatross: Patrick Reed recorded the fourth albatross in U.S. Open history when his 286-yard second shot found the cup on the par-5 fourth hole. First eagle ever: Oakmont's par-4 3rd hole had never surrendered an eagle during the U.S. Open… until Shane Lowry carded one during an otherwise ugly round (+9). More from Round 1: Brooks Koepka (-2) is in the hunt after a tongue lashing from his coach … Rory McIlroy (+4) left without talking to media (again) … Bryson DeChambeau (+3) averted a disastrous rules mistake … Scottie Scheffler (+3) turned in a 5.5-hour slog. () Good read: Phil Mickelson walks in silence in possible last U.S. Open (Jay Busbee, Yahoo Sports) As Phil Mickelson, aka Lefty, aka Phil the Thrill, aka FIGJAM, aka one of the two most famous golfers of the 21st century, teed off Thursday in what might be his final U.S. Open, there were more security guards than journalists following him. And there were two security guards. ⚾️ Chart of the day: David vs. Goliath (Lev Akabas/Sportico) Eight teams are in Omaha this weekend for the 2025 College World Series. One of them is not like the others. Advertisement Underdog story: Murray State upset Duke on Monday to clinch their first-ever trip to Omaha and become just the fourth regional No. 4 seed ever to reach the CWS. Not bad for a team with a tiny stadium and a paltry $858,000 budget, which ranks 253rd out of 308 D-I programs and pales in comparison to the other seven teams in Omaha, as illustrated above. Taking on the big boys: The three teams Murray State faced to get here (Ole Miss, Duke, Georgia Tech) have a combined 24 pitchers who average 92+ mph on their fastball. The Racers have none. Thankfully, their offense absolutely rakes and averaged 8.8 runs per game this season, tied for 11th in the nation. Celtic want Arne Engels guarantees amid Lennon Miller chase as Rangers clearout tackled – Scott Burns' transfer diary
There is still one game to go in the Scottish football calendar - but transfer season is already taking centre stage. Celtic will look to complete a domestic clean sweep on Saturday with a Scottish Cup triumph - but Aberdeen can spoil the party and pull off a major success. Advertisement But with only the transfer showpiece to go, attention is quickly turning to the moves in the market. READ MORE: Kalidou Sidibe available in transfer fire sale as Celtic told directly of woes and £9million 'target' gets honest READ MORE: Celtic prankster drops wild Steven Gerrard claim to set Hotline on fire as Rangers punters have their own fan Our resident transfer guru Scott Burns tackled the big early talking points in the window in the Record Sport transfer blog with a blockbuster Q&A. And it's one that will catch the eyes of the Hoops' faithful with the future of Arne Engels among the big names dominating the window so far. Advertisement The Belgian international has been linked with a move to Atalanta this summer - just 12 months on from his £11million arrival in Glasgow's east end. And while the man himself has shrugged off speculation, figures topping £30million have been thrown around in Italy for the Celtic man. Our man reckons that a big money offer could tempt the Hoops to cash-in on the 21-year-old: "Atalanta have been keeping a close eye on Celtic in recent seasons. "They were keen on Matt O'Riley before he went to Brighton and they also like Engels. "There have been big figures quoted and if the Italians were to come to the table at that level then Engels is likely to be sold. Advertisement "My understanding from O'Riley is that the bids were all staggered with a lot of the money reliant on future triggers. Celtic would want a deal with guarantees for Engels." Should Engels leave, will Lennon Miller arrive as a replacement? Well, the champions face a battle if they are to snap up the Motherwell wonderkid. Burns said: "It looks like Lennon Miller will be leaving Fir Park this summer. He won't be short of offers. "There have been a few French clubs mentioned, including Strasbourg and Lyon, although a lot of that has been other agents trying to get busy. "Miller will have a number of options from the likes of Ipswich Town in the Championship to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and Union Saint Gilloise in Belgium are just some of the clubs who have declared an interest. Advertisement "Celtic are also watching things very closely. It could be a real money-spinner for Motherwell." Across the city, speculation is ramping up over the future of Nedim Bajrami at Rangers. Rangers' Nedim Bajrami -Credit:SNS Group The clearout has already begun with out of contract starts like Ianis Hagi and Leon Balogun being shown the Ibrox door ahead of the looming takeover. But amid reports of interest from Germany and Italy, Bajrami could stay in Glasgow: "It hasn't been the greatest of first seasons for the Albanian. "My understanding is that he is keen to stay and fight for his place under the new manager. "I would suspect that if any decent offers come in for most of the Rangers squad then they would be considered. The next manager will want to revamp the squad and put his own stamp on it. Freeing up additional funds will be vital to that." Advertisement Elsewhere, the rumour mill is swirling around Tannadice over Dundee United signing Hakeem Odoffin following his Rotherham United departure. But Scott reckons a deal could be some way off: "Jim Goodwin and his new head of recruitment have a number of target lists. "The manager is looking to bring more physicality, speed and power into his team. Hakeem Oddofin certainly offers all those attributes. He also had Scottish Premiership experience (with Hamilton Accies) but he will also have other options in England after his departure from Rotherham." Did you miss the Q&A? Philippe Clement pinpoints Rangers breaking point as flop boss admits board 'listened to fans too much'
Philippe Clement has pinpointed the moment he felt his Rangers breaking point had arrived. The Belgian boss was given the boot at Ibrox last season with rivals Celtic running away at the top of the Premiership and no chance of silverware after a Premier Sports Cup Final defeat and a major Scottish Cup upset at Ibrox from Queen's Park. Advertisement Despite winning plaudits for his results and performances in the Europa League, his side couldn't replicate it week to week in the domestic bread and butter and ultimately it proved costly to the 51-year-old after he was axed. READ MORE: Russell Martin was shellshocked by Rangers as player but I've spoken to him and he knows what isn't acceptable as boss READ MORE: I fear Russell Martin is slow Rangers burner and not raging inferno fans want to torch Celtic immortality – Hugh Keevins It is all change at Ibrox now with 49ers Enterprises completing their takeover at the club and Russell Martin now in as manager. Advertisement But former boss Clement believes THAT Hampden defeat to Brendan Rodgers was the 'vital game' as he admitted the board 'maybe listened too much to some fans' as he looked back on his time in Govan. Rangers manager Philippe Clement -Credit:SNS Group He told BBC Sport Scotland: "I had a feeling, a bad feeling, after the League Cup final. I think it was a vital game. "If we had won, there would have been more patience with the fans also and the board could have stayed much calmer. "It's a pity that the story stopped, that the board didn't have the patience, or maybe listened too much to some fans. "There are other clubs where there is a difficult moment and everybody sticks together because everybody knows the story, how the work is done inside the building, and they continue and they are successful afterwards. Advertisement "In three or four windows, we could have closed the gap [to Celtic] with a good development of players, but the decision is made and you need to accept it." It is set to be a busy summer at Rangers with a host of names already linked with joining the new Martin revolution. But Clement reckons FIVE players at the club now have real sell on value and teams would pay good money for their services. Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande have both been linked with summer exits - the latter with Everton. But there are also others who the Belgian reckons could net a tidy windfall. Nico Raskin in action for Rangers He continued: "Nicolas Raskin made a really good evolution. A lot of clubs are interested in him. Advertisement "But you also have Jefte, Hamza Igamane, Clinton Nsiala, who will have a better value. Mohamed Diomande is also one of those guys. "The club has worked well the past year in that way. "There are now four or five players with the value to sell and several teams would pay good amounts of money. "The club needs to build with that, or the new owners have to say 'we don't do it that way now because we have enough money'."
