Ohio State softball now ranked in several national polls
The Ohio State softball team has had a fantastic start to the 2025 campaign. The team currently has an impressive 22-6-1 overall record and just polished off a series win over previously ranked Nebraska. The Buckeyes have won four in a row and have wins over Missouri, UCF, and Georgia. They gave No. 1 Texas all it could handle in a 4-2 loss. The Lady Bucks have one 11 of their past 13 games to put the country on notice.
And now, for all of its effort, Ohio State has now shown up in the rankings as a top 25 team according to several polls. OSU is No. 25 in both the NFCA Coaches and ESPN.com polls, and No. 20 according to D1.softball.com.
Before we celebrate, it should be noted, starred, and highlighted that it is still very early in the Big Ten season and many, many more contests to go against quality competition, but what new head coach Kirin Kumar has done at this point in the season during her first year on the job shows some incredible promise.
After winning two midweek games this week, Ohio State will be back in action this weekend when it travels to East Lansing to take on Big Ten foe, Michigan State. Let's hope the team can keep things rolling and make Buckeye Nation proud.

Cleveland Browns Cornerback Denzel Ward Ranked Top 10 in NFL
Cleveland Browns Cornerback Denzel Ward Ranked Top 10 in NFL originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns are hoping for a much-improved 2025 over an abysmal 3-14 campaign from a season ago. Advertisement They've added some pieces on offense and defense this offseason through free agency and the NFL Draft, and hope they can find the piece at quarterback that fits best. But that's not to say there's not already talent on the roster, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Star defensive end Myles Garrett was just made the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL ... ever. And he'll be playing with one of the best cornerbacks in the league once again next season. Pro Football Focus just ranked the top 32 cornerbacks in the NFL, and the Browns' Denzel Ward showed in the top 10 at No. 10. 10. Denzel Ward, Cleveland Browns "Ward is another player who has struggled to stay healthy but, when at full strength, is one of the best in the NFL. Advertisement "In 2024, Ward was on a torrid forced-incompletion-rate pace until he faded at the end of the season. He still led the NFL with 17 forced incompletions, and his 80.4 PFF coverage grade in man and zone-match coverage was tops in the NFL." Ward was originally drafted by the Browns in the first round at No. 4 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. Across his seven seasons in the league, Ward has made four Pro Bowls and posted 322 total tackles with 264 solo and 11 for loss. He's added six QB hits and half a sack, with 17 interceptions, including two for touchdowns, four forced fumbles, and six fumble recoveries with two for touchdowns. NCAA v. House settlement approved, allowing colleges to directly pay athletes
Almost five years after House v. NCAA was filed in Oakland, California, Judge Claudia Wilken granted final approval to a settlement Friday night, a decision that will drastically change college sports again, allowing schools to pay athletes directly for the first time. The settlement resolves three antitrust suits against the NCAA — House, Carter and Hubbard — all of which challenged past restrictions on athlete compensation. The agreement was hashed out by attorneys for the plaintiffs and six defendants: The NCAA, SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big 12 and Pac 12. It includes almost $2.8 billion in back damages for former and current athletes (and their lawyers).
