Taj Mahal in Agra to be secured with advanced anti-drone technology
In a major development, the iconic Taj Mahal is all set to be Advanced Drone Jamming Technology. The news was shared by a senior official on Sunday. The motive behind this is to counter the growing threat of aerial intrusions and ensure the continued safety of the monument, which is currently protected by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Uttar Pradesh Police.
The decision comes in the wake of India's recent precision strikes on terror hubs on May 7. The incident underscored the rising need for anti-drone systems, especially at nationally significant sites including the Taj Mahal in Agra.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Taj Security), Syed Arib Ahmad, shared details about the system's capabilities, stating that the anti-drone mechanism will cover a range of 7 to 8 kilometers but will be particularly effective within a 200-meter radius of the monument's main dome.
This system will function by jamming the communication signals of any unauthorized drone entering the restricted area, effectively disabling it through a 'soft kill' method rather than destroying it physically.
To ensure efficient operation of this new technology, law enforcement personnel are being specially trained. Ahmad added that a dedicated response team is also being formed to manage drone-related incidents.
