You can see him on Apple TV plus this Friday night baseball.
He played baseball for the Colorado Rockies for quite some time, and he is our friend.
His name is Ryan Spielberg.
Spiy, welcome to baseball, Robert Cas.
Hi guys.
Yeah, sorry, I don't have my makeup on, a little bit of a red eye flight last night.
We're not going to talk about playing etiquette, um, but we are going to talk about etiquette.
On this segment here with Ryan Spielbergs, as the biggest news in the baseball world was that Rafael Devers spoke to the media and said, no thank you, I do not want to play first base.
Now, what do you make of this entire situation?
It was preventable.
I think this was really poorly communicated from the front office to Davors to begin with.
For a player like Devs.
Where the metrics defensively, there's no argument, you cannot argue that you're a plus defender.
You're not.
He's the bottom of baseball at third base in outs above average, defensive run saved, every single defensive metric, the eye test, like everything.
There, there isn't one that says, you know what, you should continue to play third base.
This to me was a front office that that didn't tell him early, right?
It should have been at the end of the year when the season was over.

Before Alex Bregman rumors, before anything.
Raffi, we're gonna start, we want you to train this offseason, working at first base.
We want you to be a little bit more mobile here.
This is where we want you to grow comfortable.
We understand we have trusting Costa here too, but you have a massive contract.
We want you to be able to have this in your bag.
The manager has to keep the room.
If the manager says, you don't need your glove anymore, let's just focus on the DH, um, that's his word.
He told him.
He sat in an office with him and was like, listen, let's, let's not worry about it this year.
You're our DH just go, go ahead, figure this thing out.

Now you're, you're asking the manager to go back on it, which that's part of like creating a, a chemistry and an environment of the team.
And if you break that, you start, I mean, Dever starts talking, right?
Turns into this like negative cancer in the clubhouse.
Well, what is Korra gonna do here?
Korra is, is principle based.
He is gonna stick it, if, if he thinks this is the best way to do it, he communicates it and then that's, that's what happens.
So you can't come in for the front office to go, hey, we need him to come play first base.
No.
I think Alex Cora is a huge part of this this too, because you just mentioned that that could be part of the breakdown, but what is so compelling about this whole narrative, and this goes back to the offseason too, is there seems to be a lack of alignment just between Breslow and Cora.

Cora has thus far stood up for Ray said, no, he is my.
He is, this is, I'm not gonna think about.
He even said before all this stuff came out from off yesterday, he said it would be unfair to ask him to do that.
That seems to be a reflection of Cora being on the same page and understanding what his player wants.
For now, uh, Spily, we appreciate your perspective.
You can watch Billy on Apple TV plus Friday Night Baseball.
Definitely check that out.
Um, but otherwise, uh, thank you, thank you, Mr. Spielbergs.
I think this was, this was pretty fun.

Pedro Martínez's Latest Comments Leave Red Sox Fans in Disbelief
Pedro Martínez's Latest Comments Leave Red Sox Fans in Disbelief originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the late Don Zimmer knows all too well, Pedro Martínez wore a Boston Red Sox uniform when their rivalry with the New York Yankees truly mattered. Advertisement Over two decades after his final Yankees-Red Sox game, Martínez has no problems praising the Bronx Bombers when credit is due. However, the Hall of Fame pitcher left his devoted fans flabbergasted with his analysis during Tuesday's Yankees-Kansas City Royals game. 'The thing that impresses me the most is how the Yankees [present] themselves,' Martínez wrote on Twitter/X. 'The culture that they have,' Martínez added. 'It's a presence unlike anybody else. It must be the pinstripes.' Boston Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martínez in 1998RVR Photos-Imagn Images Did someone at the TBS studios in Georgia steal Martínez's phone? Has he finally seen the light, and he'll report to Yankee Stadium this summer in a replica Derek Jeter jersey? Advertisement Either way, Red Sox fans aren't thrilled with their longtime ace. 'Did I just read a tweet where Pedro is talking good about the Yankees???' one fan wrote. Added another: ' me, WHAT? Is Pedro heavily medicated right now? This is not the Pedro I remember.' Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez in 2019Jasen Vinlove-Imagn Images Plenty of Yankees fans, understandably, welcomed Martínez to their fanbase. Evidently, all is forgiven when a Red Sox great praises a team for their 'presence.' 'Blink twice if you're in danger,' an X/Twitter user quipped. 'We are living in the End Times,' another fan bemoaned. Roman Anthony's first MLB hit is a 2-run double that propels Red Sox past Rays
Roman Anthony's second MLB game went better than his first. And it helped lead the Red Sox to a 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Anthony went 0-for-4 with an RBI and an error in his MLB debut on Monday, just hours after the Red Sox called up the No. 1 prospect in baseball. The Red Sox lost to the Rays 10-8. Advertisement On Tuesday, Anthony got to work in his first at-bat. With runners on second and third in the bottom of the first inning, he faced an outside changeup from Rays starter Ryan Pepiot on a 1-2 count. Anthony swung and sent a line drive down the left-field line that rolled to the outfield wall. Two runs scored, and Anthony reached second for a go-ahead double on his first MLB hit. Not a bad way to start the career highlight reel. The runs off of Anthony's bat turned out to be all the Red Sox needed to secure the 3-1 win. Anthony finished 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBI and a strikeout. Can Anthony help Sox compete in AL East? A Red Sox team sitting near the bottom of the AL East standings (32-36 before Tuesday's game) and in need of an offensive injection called Anthony up from Triple-A Worcester following an injury to right fielder Wilyer Abreu. A 21-year-old outfielder, Anthony is filling in for Abreu in right and batting fifth in the Red Sox's lineup. Advertisement Just two nights prior to his call-up, Anthony showed off part of what makes him such a tantalizing prospect with a 497-foot grand slam for Worcester that was longer than any MLB home run this season. The Red Sox are certainly hoping he can build off Tuesday's breakthrough and provide a boost in the AL playoff race.

Red Sox's Alex Cora Calls Out Umpires Over Poor Call 'That Pitch Was a Ball'
Red Sox's Alex Cora Calls Out Umpires Over Poor Call 'That Pitch Was a Ball' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After the Boston Red Sox lost to the Tampa Bay Rays, there was a lot of frustration. It was an extra-inning thriller, but the Red Sox fell to the Rays after a terrible call had a huge impact on the game. Advertisement Late in the game, the Red Sox were in a precarious situation. With runners on first and second, and one out, in a two-run game, Romy Gonzalez watched a low pitch go by and began his trot to first for the walk. However, despite the pitch being below the strike zone on the TV broadcast, home plate umpire Junior Valentine called it a strike. Gonzalez was out, Cora was heated, and shortly thereafter was ejected. After the game, Cora called out the umpires for their poor strike-three call. "It was a ball," Cora said. "That pitch was a ball. It was down. He (Valentine) was really good, actually, during the day. But it was down." Advertisement A huge reason why that pitch was especially frustrating was in the prior half-inning, in the top of the 11th, Red Sox reliever Zack Kelly threw a pitch in the same area, and it was called a ball. Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora reacts after a strikeout during the eleventh inning of a game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Fluharty-Imagn Images The Rays benefitted both times from Valentine's decision, and while not the sole reason for the Red Sox's loss, it was a huge part in the outcome of the game. Despite the high energy from Roman Anthony's MLB debut, the Red Sox fell to the Rays in a tough loss following a bad call from the umpire. Cora's message wasn't too inflammatory. While he called out Valentine for the missed call, he also complimented him for his performance throughout the previous ten innings. Advertisement With how umpires aren't afraid of holding a grudge against players, teams, and managers, Cora's praise of Valentine isn't out of the ordinary. Instead of blasting Valentine, his complaint was a reasonable one, expressed clearly and respectfully. The Red Sox will not have to see Valentine behind the plate again in the series against the Rays, but will look to rebound from a crushing extra-inning loss to the Rays.
