MADINAH — The first groups of pilgrims have departed from Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, marking the start of return operations following the successful completion of this year's Hajj rituals.
Authorities have implemented comprehensive organizational measures to ensure the smooth departure of pilgrims. These efforts include coordinating scheduled transfers from pilgrims' residences to the airport's dedicated lounges, helping to streamline check-in procedures and maintain operational efficiency at the airport.
Meanwhile, Madinah continues to receive pilgrims around the clock via the Haramain High Speed Railway — the fastest mode of transport between Makkah and Madinah — which is playing a critical role in the movement of pilgrims during the post-Hajj period.
Following the completion of Hajj, large numbers of pilgrims from diverse nationalities are arriving in Madinah to visit the Prophet's Mosque. There, they pray and offer salutations to the Prophet Muhammad — peace be upon him — and his two companions, before departing to their home countries.

Over 11,410 Pakistani Hajj pilgrims return from Saudi Arabia
ISLAMABAD: A total of 11,418 Pakistani pilgrims have returned in the post-Hajj flight operation so far, the country's religion ministry said on Sunday. Pakistan began its post-Hajj flight operation with the arrival of PIA flight PK-732 in Islamabad on June 11, carrying 307 pilgrims. The country is expected to conclude the operation on July 10, with the last flight carrying Hajj pilgrims to land in Islamabad. This year's Hajj took place from June 4 to June 9, drawing millions of pilgrims to the holy cities. Pakistan sent over 115,000 pilgrims under both the government and private schemes. 'As of Saturday, June 14, a total of 11,418 pilgrims have returned home,' a spokesperson of Pakistan's Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony said in a statement. 'On Sunday, June 15, another 4,995 pilgrims will arrive in the country through 20 flights.' The spokesperson said six flights carrying Hajj pilgrims will each land in both Islamabad and Lahore, while four will arrive in Karachi, three in Multan and one in Quetta on Sunday. Of the 20 flights, eight will be operated by the state-run Pakistan International Airlines, five by Saudia, four by Airblue, two by AirSial and one by Serene Air. 'Despite global air traffic disruptions, Pakistan's post-Hajj flight operation is successfully going on,' the ministry said, referring to the recent diversion of flights due to the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict. The spokesperson advised Pakistani pilgrims to ensure their return journey remained a 'smooth' one by maintaining discipline. 'Pilgrims should ensure their baggage weight complies with the limit stated on their air tickets,' he said, advising pilgrims to reach their respective airports in Saudi Arabia six to eight hours before departure.

In a public address from Mina at the season's conclusion, Prince Saud bin Mishaal, deputy governor of Makkah and vice chairman of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah, announced the successful completion of Hajj, highlighting its excellence in security, health, and services. He emphasized that the exceptional execution of operational plans was key to this success, as they were carefully designed to support the spiritual journey of pilgrims, allowing them to perform their rituals with ease and peace. Prince Saud also praised the vital role of personnel across key sectors — security, health, and general services — and commended the dedication of male and female volunteers who contributed to the success of this sacred event. Key factors behind the success of this year's Hajj included meticulous planning and effective execution across multiple sectors — health, transportation, logistics, food services, and accommodation. Seamless coordination among government agencies and the integration of advanced technologies for crowd management also played a crucial role. Notably, stricter and more rigorously enforced security measures — especially the requirement of an official permit to perform Hajj — were instrumental in ensuring safety and effective crowd control. The Ministry of Interior's 'No Hajj Without a Permit' campaign helped guarantee a secure and well-organized pilgrimage for officially authorized participants. Severe penalties were imposed on those attempting Hajj without authorization, including visit visa holders. Robust security measures also curbed illegal bedding practices and prevented fatalities from suffocation and stampedes. The cooperation of pilgrims and their adherence to safety guidelines issued by Hajj authorities significantly contributed to a smooth and safe spiritual experience. Improvements to infrastructure and safety at several holy sites helped reduce risks related to crowding, jostling, and extreme heat exposure. As part of the Green Holy Sites initiative, the Saudi government has planted more than 20,000 trees across 290,000 sq. meters, improving air quality and creating a more comfortable environment for pilgrims. The success of this year's Hajj is the result of coordinated efforts by more than 30 government and non-government entities, supported by more than 420,000 personnel and the discipline of the pilgrims themselves. Saudi Arabia begins coordinated return of Iranian pilgrims via Arar land port
Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has established a dedicated operations room to monitor the status of Iranian pilgrims around the clock and ensure all their needs are met in Makkah and Madinah. This initiative follows directives from the Saudi leadership to provide full care and services for Iranian pilgrims until they can safely return home. The Ministry stated that its teams carried out a comprehensive review of services provided to approximately 76,000 Iranian pilgrims, ensuring consistent high-quality care throughout their stay in the Kingdom. In close coordination with relevant Saudi authorities, the Ministry has developed a detailed departure plan based on requests from the Iranian side responsible for pilgrim affairs. The plan is designed to guarantee smooth logistics and seamless transportation across all stages of their return. Under the plan, Iranian pilgrims will depart via domestic flights from King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah to Arar Airport. From there, they will proceed by land through the newly established Arar land port to continue their journey to Iran. The phased departure officially began on Friday. Ministry teams remain on-site to ensure the safe and dignified return of all pilgrims, providing direct services and continuous support.
