Ernest Cole: Lost and Found review – the man who turned his camera on apartheid
Before anything else, this lyrical documentary homage by Raoul Peck (Oscar-nominated for I Am Not Your Negro) is about the work: the axis-shifting impact of Black South African photographer Ernest Cole's intimate insights into life in his home country under apartheid. His extraordinary 1967 book, House of Bondage, exposed the realities of South Africa's racial oppression to a wider world. This film, though, goes beyond the initial impact of Cole's photography to explore the personal cost of his work. Following the publication of the book, he was forced to live abroad, making America his home, but found himself increasingly unmoored and creatively disfranchised.
There's also an element of mystery to Lost and Found. A question mark lingers over the fact that Cole's archive, long since believed lost, turned up in a Swedish bank vault. The narration, by LaKeith Stanfield, speaks on behalf of the photographer, who died in 1990. It's through his remarkable pictures of South Africa and Black America, however, that we really hear his voice.

Dakota Johnson shares Chris Martin's reaction to her dream about British singer
Actress Dakota Johnson has revealed her dream about The 1975's Matty Healy, which saw the singer morphing into a vegetable to dodge the police, with Chris Martin's reaction Newly single Dakota Johnson has revealed her ex Chris Martin's brilliant reaction to her wacky dream about singer Matty Healy. The Fifty Shades of Grey actress, 35, and the Coldplay frontman, 48, recently ended their romantic relationship after eight years together. Chatting with comedian Amy Poehler, Dakota recalled having a bizarre dream about The 1975 hitmaker. "I actually had a dream the other night," Dakota told host Amy during the latest episode of the Good Hang podcast. "Matty Healy from The 1975 was in my dream and he was murdering people, and he was Matty Healy as himself." Dakota, who recently enjoyed a dinner date with Matty's ex Taylor Swift, then went on to note how the dream got even stranger, with her dream version of Matty morphing into a vegetable to dodge the police. "When the people were looking for him—they were cops maybe," Dakota continued, "he would turn into a piece of asparagus." If that wasn't weird enough, an Oscar-winning actress then entered the dream. "I saw these two poles and a bed and I was like, 'Matty?'" Dakota said. "The sheets came down and it was him as an asparagus and Angelina Jolie as an asparagus. They were getting married, and they left in a helicopter together as asparagus." The next morning, Dakota shared her wild dream with her then-boyfriend Chris. The Fix You songwriter was fascinated by Dakota's subconscious, telling her: "That's a really good pitch for a movie." Dakota and Chris reportedly split over his reluctance to set a wedding date. . Insiders allege that the frustration stemming from this hesitancy contributed to the end of their eight-year relationship, with 35 year old Dakota particularly "sick" that no date had been decided. The two became engaged years after their on-off romance took off in 2017, following the dad-of-two's split from his ex-wife, Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow. A source told Page Six: "She was sick of him dragging his feet on setting a date for the wedding." Others in Dakota and Chris' inner circle reckon disagreements on starting a family played a role too. Another insider claimed: "They broke up over Chris Martin not wanting to have more kids." While Dakota, unlike her former beau, has never tied the knot or had children, she has hinted at her desire for both. A confidant shared with The Sun, "They really tried to work through their issues but the age gap was often a problem. She'd [also] expressed that she may want children in the future, whereas Chris is kind of done with that part of his life." Following the news of the couple's split, an insider disclosed: "They just haven't been able to figure out to make it official. Dakota held a flame for them to be together because she loved him so much and loved his kids so much. "Breakups aren't instant and they continued to breakup and makeup and sometimes things would work when they were away from each other, while they were working because absence makes the heart grow fonder, but then they'd get back together and little things just kept adding up to where they weren't right for each other anymore... "Dakota is devastated that she isn't going to be around his kids as much anymore, but wants them to know that she is always there for them."

King ‘told Conclave author he watched papal selection film'
King 'told Conclave author he watched papal selection film' Robert Harris, 68, was formally made a CBE by Charles for services to literature in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday Robert Harris was made a CBE by the King at Buckingham Palace (Image: PA Wire/PA Images ) The author of the hit novel turned Oscar-nominated picture Conclave said the King revealed to him that he has watched the film. Robert Harris, 68, was formally made a CBE by Charles for services to literature in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday. Harris said it was "eerie" and "like an out of body experience" to see his 2016 book turned into a film, and then to see the papal selection process which he had researched in so much detail play out in May after the death of Pope Francis. "(It was) very odd, I suppose because I researched it very thoroughly, and really it's the sort of thing that can practically only be done in fiction because you have to have a lot of conjecture," Harris told the PA news agency. "And so it acted as a kind of primer for journalists and for people, so that was very strange. "And then, of course, the extraordinary fact that the new pope watched it on the eve of the conclave." Article continues below Pope Leo's brother John Prevost told NBC News his younger sibling had watched the film before the secret vote. Harris said the King also asked about his new book. "We talked a bit about Conclave, which he has seen," Harris said. "He's been reading my books for years, so it was nice to see him again." The journalist-turned-novelist also joked about how seeing the inside of Buckingham Palace could provide him inspiration for his future books. "There'd have to be some mystery in the throne room, yes, murder in the throne room! It's got possibilities." Harris said it was a "very generous gesture" to receive the honour and he had "never thought about it" before being asked. Author Dame Jacqueline Wilson was made a Dame Grand Cross for her services to the same industry at the ceremony. The 79-year-old former children's laureate is widely known as the creator of Tracy Beaker and has written more than 100 novels. "It feels like a dream," Dame Jacqueline said on receiving the honour. "I'm so pleased, so proud. "I was just totally taken by surprise. To be utterly truthful, I didn't even know this particular honour existed. I'm so proud and so overwhelmed. "If little girl Jacqueline could be told that I'd be standing outside Buckingham Palace with medals and a sash, she would have been astonished." Dame Jacqueline said the King was "jovial" and they laughed about getting her sash on over her "silly hat". "And I did thank him, and particularly also thanked Her Majesty the Queen, because she takes such an interest in children's literature, and that makes all of us writers feel very pleased," she said. Last year, Dame Jacqueline released her first adult novel since the 1970s as she returned to her beloved Girls series. Article continues below The novel, Think Again, was nominated at this year's British Book Awards.

It is actor Daniel Day Lewis who was spotted with his wife Rebecca Miller at the Port of Andratx. The popular star was seen leaving a van by the port as he hopped into a speedboat with his wife. It is understood the couple were travelling via speedboat to join a yacht with legendary filmmaker, Steven Speilberg. The pair famously worked together on the 2012 historical drama movie, Lincoln. Daniel looked relaxed as he opted to cover up despite the Spanish sunshine. He wore a long beige coat with matching trousers and kept his eyes hidden behind a pair of dark shades. His wife Rebecca also appeared to keep things simple with a plain white t-shirt and a wide-brimmed hat. Daniel has famously kept a low-profile and retired from acting but was encouraged by his son to dip his toe back into the game last year. His son Roman convinced him to star in his directorial debut. Daniel Day-Lewis: The Triumphant Return The father and son duo wrote the screenplay together, with the film described as an "exploration of the relationships between fathers, sons and brothers, and the dynamics of familial bonds". Along with Daniel, the movie has an impressive cast which includes Sean Bean, Samantha Morton, Samuel Bottomley and Safia Oakley-Green. The triple Oscar-winner's last film was the 2017 movie, Phantom Thread, based on the fashion world of 1950s London. Announcing his retirement at the time, Daniel's representative said in a statement: "Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. "He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. "This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject." 6 He famously retired from acting Credit: Splash 6 Daniel is an Oscar winner Credit: Getty
