iPhone 17 air battery capacity and weight allegedly revealed
Ammon News - Apple is expected to unveil an all-new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air later this year, and while previous leaks have focused on its sleek design and camera layout, new information has emerged about the device's weight and battery capacity.
According to the Korean-language Naver blog, citing a leaker known as 'yeux1122,' the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 6.6-inch display, weigh approximately 145 grams, and house a 2,800mAh battery. The details are said to come from a 'mass production confirmed sample.' The source has a track record of accurately reporting on Apple's component strategies.
The reported weight is similar to lighter models like the iPhone SE 2 (148 grams) and iPhone 13 mini (141 grams). Meanwhile, the battery capacity is comparable to that of the iPhone 12, which featured a 2,815mAh battery. However, the post also mentions that Apple may opt for a high-density battery, which could boost the effective capacity by 15–20%.
This lines up with a prediction from Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who earlier stated that the iPhone 17 Air would use high-density battery technology. Supporting this, a recent Asian report noted that Apple supplier TDK is preparing to deliver a new generation of silicon-anode batteries by the end of June, which may debut in the iPhone 17 Air.
That said, there are conflicting reports about the phone's expected battery performance. According to The Information's Wayne Ma, internal testing shows that only 60–70% of iPhone 17 Air users are likely to get through an entire day without needing a recharge — a drop from the 80–90% seen in other iPhone models. To address this, Apple reportedly plans to offer an optional battery case for the device.
Conversely, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman presents a more positive outlook, suggesting that the iPhone 17 Air's battery life will be comparable to current iPhones, thanks to hardware and software efficiency improvements.
The iPhone 17 Air is also said to be just 5.5mm thick, potentially the thinnest iPhone yet. It may feature Apple's power-efficient C1 modem and omit the Ultra Wide camera, possibly freeing up space for a larger internal battery. The device is expected to replace the 'Plus' model in the iPhone 17 lineup and launch around mid-September, in line with Apple's usual fall release cycle.

Next version of chrome to drop support for select iPhone models
Ammon News - The next version of Chrome that Google is currently testing drops support for devices running iOS 16, meaning it will be the end of the road for the browser on iPhone X and iPhone 8 models. Apple dropped support for these devices when it released iOS 17, which Chrome will require to install. Likewise, the upcoming Chrome v138.7204.13 requires iPadOS 17 to run, so the browser will drop support for the iPad 5, iPad Pro (9.7-inch), and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st generation). The upcoming Chrome is currently undergoing beta testing in TestFlight, but it's not clear when Google will release it. The current version includes support for tab groups on iPad, as well as Google Password Manager syncing for iPhone and iPad, along with stability and performance improvements.

Trump to keep Starlink at White House
Ammon News - President Donald Trump said on Monday he has no plans to discontinue Starlink at the White House but might move his Tesla off-site, following his announcement over the weekend that his relationship with Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of both companies, was over. "I may move the Tesla around a little bit, but I don't think we'll be doing that with Starlink. It's a good service," Trump told reporters, referring to the satellite internet company that provides high-speed broadband access. It is a unit of Musk's SpaceX. In March, Trump said he had purchased a red Tesla Model S from Musk, Trump's then-close ally. Last week, a White House official said Trump might get rid of it after a public feud erupted between the two men. The Tesla was seen parked at the White House over the weekend. On Saturday, Trump said he had no intention of repairing ties with Musk. On Monday, the president said he would not have a problem if Musk called. "We had a good relationship, and I just wish him well," Trump said. Musk responded with a heart emoji to a video on X showing Trump's remarks. Last week, Trump and Musk exchanged a flurry of insults after the world's richest man denounced Trump's tax and spending bill as a "disgusting abomination." Musk's opposition has complicated Republican efforts to pass Trump's "big, beautiful bill" in Congress, where the party holds slim majorities in the House of Representatives and Senate. Since the dispute began last Thursday, Musk has deleted some social media posts critical of Trump, including one signaling support for impeaching the president. Sources close to Musk said his anger has started to subside, and they believe he may want to repair his relationship with Trump. Reuters
