Blues legend Buddy Guy to perform in Rockford again in June
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Hot off his appearance in the box office hit 'Sinners,' blues legend Buddy Guy is returning to Rockford for an encore of his farewell tour in June.
Guy, now 88, will appear at Rockford's Coronado Performing Arts Center on June 27th, 2025.
He is the recipient of 34 Blues Music Awards, more than any artist has received. He is also a Kennedy Center Honoree and received the Presidential National Medal of Arts. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him #23 in its '100 Greats Guitarists of All Time.'
In 1957, he took his guitar to Chicago, where he would permanently alter the direction of the instrument, first on numerous sessions for Chess Records playing alongside Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, and the rest of the label's legendary roster, and then on recordings of his own. His incendiary style left its mark on guitarists from Jimmy Page to John Mayer.
Guy will appear with guest Ronnie Baker Brooks for his Damn Right Encore! tour at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27th. Tickets are now on sale on and at the Coronado box office.

"But Beau Society felt like the right place to share some of the love and magic that made up our wedding weekend." Here are four things we learned about Allen and Steinfeld's wedding: Breakfast for two with pancakes on the menu The bride and groom are traditionally separated from each other ahead of the wedding, but Allen and Steinfeld moved the goalposts and opted for an intimate breakfast with just the two of them. "On the morning of our wedding, Josh and I met for breakfast just before 7," Steinfeld wrote. "I'm so glad we did that. I don't think I could've gone the whole day without seeing him! We had a little spread, which included my favorite lemon ricotta pancakes." Josh Allen 'stunned' by Steinfeld's wedding dress Steinfeld walked down the aisle in a strapless ivory wedding dress designed and tailored by Tamara Ralph, which was "easily the most perfect gown I've ever put on my body," she said. Steinfeld accessorized her gown with a pair of long, sheer gloves, Mikimoto earrings and a sleek bun adorned with a French Chantilly lace veil. Steinfeld said she "stunned (Allen) when I got to the altar," but noted that her wedding day look almost didn't happen. "We were on the tightest timeline. Six weeks before the wedding, my mom and I flew to Paris straight from the 'Sinners' premiere in London for the fitting," she revealed. "I really had to lean into the whole 'trust the process' thing and thank God for Rob, Mariel, Tamara, and her team for pulling it all together in time. On our wedding day, when I put on this dress, I actually lost my breath. I've never felt more like myselfand more beautiful." Allen donned a Tom Ford tuxedo that he paired with a pleated shirt and black cufflinks. "Josh looked like the man of every dream I've ever had," Steinfeld gushed. As for the guests? Steinfeld said the dress code was "all-black black tie" to seamlessly match their "very classic and bold" theme. The wedding was also "a no-phone wedding," which was "one of the best decisions we made." They walked down the aisle to this classic song Steinfeld ditched a wedding bouquet and instead walked down the aisle with one single crystal rose. She was accompanied by her father Peter Steinfeld, which she called an emotional moment. "I'm very proud of us. It became a running joke that we'd be crying too hard to walk straight," she said. "I just remember the walkup looked like a façade. Josh was standing under this huge structure; it was the most surreal thing I'd ever seen." After Allen and Steinfeld said 'I do,' the newlyweds exited the altar to Stevie Wonder's 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)." They also got a round of applause, from the sky that is: "The coolest thing happened after we got married: We walked off the aisle ... and it started thundering. No rain, just thunder and lightning. Magical.' The bridal party jumped into the pool Allen and Steinfeld hosted an underground after-party to comply with sound ordinances in the area. The party was decked out with a cigar bar, Angel Margarita, grilled cheese sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies served with shot glasses of milk. The party didn't stop until around 3 a.m. and they ended it with a bang. The bridal party jumped into the pool (except Steinfeld, who was dressed in feathers) in their tuxedos and dresses. Her finale look was fun, festive and a lot more embellished with its sparkly adornments, feather trimming and low-cut back. She also changed into glittery ankle-strap stilettos to match the vibe. By the end of the celebrations (the night capped at 3 a.m.), all of the couple's friends jumped in a pool in their dresses and tuxes, shared Steinfeld, who joked that she didn't partake because of all the feathers. Yet, each look was "perfect" for their respective occasions, she added. Further down in the newsletter, Steinfeld wrote about how her and Allen's honeymoon plans went following their "perfect" wedding weekend. "The next day, Josh and I ran off into the sunset to our honeymoon (more on that later?). Now we're back, and it's been a whole 13 days of being married, and we'll be staying on this high forever!" Allen has mostly kept mum about newlywed life, but he did make a rare comment on their relationship not long after they tied the knot. When asked about his accomplishments at a June 10 press conference, the Buffalo Bills quarterback said his most memorable milestone has been "none other than marrying my best friend.' Juneteenth celebration in Rockford to feature Lakeside funk band
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford will commemorate 'Liberation Day' for African Americans who were enslaved in the United States with the city's annual Juneteenth Celebration, on Thursday, June 16th. The event will be held at Sinnissippi Park, starting at 1 p.m. The celebration will include food vendors, retail vendors, local performances, stories and a celebration of history, a Community Awards Ceremony, karaoke contest, and a talent show hosted by Harlan Jefferson of Live at Levings. Hard Rock Casino Rockford has partnered with the city to bring funk band Lakeside, known for hits like 'Fantastic Voyage' and 'It's All the Way Live,' to perform at the casino at 8:30 p.m. Free tickets can be picked up at the Hard Rock Casino box office or at the Juneteenth Rockford Celebration. 'We are so excited that through the support and partnership of our premier sponsor, Hard Rock Casino Rockford, we are able to bring a high-caliber performance by Lakeside on a day of celebration—Juneteenth, Freedom Day,' says Tommy Meeks, leader of Juneteenth Rockford.
