Sudan's PM dissolves cabinet, promises security and unity
Shafaq News/ Sudan's transitional Prime Minister, Kamil Idris, announced on Sunday the dissolution of his government, instructing ministry secretaries and department heads to manage daily affairs until a new cabinet is formed.
State media reported that Idris made the decision during a cabinet meeting in Khartoum, just a day after he was sworn in as Sudan's transitional premier.
In a televised address, Idris vowed to uphold justice, peace, and the rule of law, while working for sustainable development nationwide. He emphasized a commitment to national unity and pledged to remain impartial, maintaining equal distance from all political factions.
'Our highest priority is safeguarding Sudan's national security and state sovereignty by defeating the insurgency and rebel armed groups,' Idris said, urging foreign backers of the insurgency to end their support.
He also praised the Sudanese Armed Forces, other security agencies, and resistance movements for their ongoing efforts in the conflict.
Looking ahead, Idris outlined a comprehensive national recovery plan centered on inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue that leaves no one behind. He called for rejecting tribal and racial divisions, strengthening the rule of law—including the judiciary and constitutional court—and expanding Sudan's ties with neighboring countries, the Arab world, Africa, and the broader international community.

New Era for Iraqi trade: Nation joins International Transit Network
Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, the Iraqi Border Ports Authority announced that Iraq has officially joined the global (TIR) system, enabling streamlined international transit operations through its territory in partnership with the International Road Transport Union (IRU). The authority indicated in a statement that the initiative was launched under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, integrating the TIR system with Iraq's government platforms across all land, sea, and air border crossings. Two successful pilot shipments were completed using Iraqi territory. The first shipment began in Turkiye's Mersin Port and passed through Iraq en route to Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi. The second originated in Poland, traversed Turkiye and Iraq, and continued onward to Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The statement affirmed the initiative's success in reducing costs and delivery time while generating non-oil government revenues for Iraq. 'This international trade corridor through Iraqi territory adds to a growing network of regional and global transit routes,' the authority noted, attributing the achievement to improved security conditions and inter-agency coordination among transport, customs, and border authorities. The ports authority also emphasized the system's broader socio-economic benefits, saying it will 'create jobs along transport corridors and provide employment opportunities for Iraqis across diverse sectors.'

Iraq frees 1,500+ detainees under amnesty law
Shafaq News/ On Tuesday, Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council announced a new set of figures related to the implementation of the amended Amnesty Law, covering the period from May 25 to May 29, 2025. According to a statement, a total of 1,534 detainees and convicts held in prisons and detention centers across the country were released. Additionally, 5,896 individuals—either wanted on arrest warrants, facing financial liabilities, or convicted in absentia—were also granted legal reprieve. Including figures published on May 22, 24,754 individuals have now been released under the law, with 111,017 beneficiaries overall, including those with pending legal cases or convictions. During the same timeframe, Iraq recovered 3,494,402,206 Iraqi dinars (about $247.3K), the council revealed, adding that the total amount of recovered public funds now exceeds 20.1 billion Iraqi dinars (about $1.415M).
