FHP reports a fatal crash in Baker County
The Florida Highway Patrol announced on Wednesday morning about a fatal crash in Baker County at 5:40 a.m.

FHP said a vehicle was heading eastbound on I-10 when the driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons.
The man got off the lanes and impacted a couple of trees with the front of their car.

FHP said that after crashing, the vehicle came to a stop with the trees to its right side, the car looking in the same direction it was before the accident.

Rick Ross Car Show causes traffic troubles at another event miles away
People who attended the sold-out Southern Soul Festival say it was a nightmare getting to the venue. They told Channel 2's Tom Jones that traffic was so bad, one man got out and started directing it himself. People complained the city allocated too many officers to the Rick Ross Car Show. They said it took them more than two hours to get to Wolf Creek Amphitheater. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Some people gave up and turned around. 'I didn't see any police officers,' Angelia Gay Bankston said. Bankston says she couldn't believe the bottlenecked traffic trying to get into the amphitheater Saturday. Fans said the nightmare traffic led to long lines to get in and led to people overheating and requiring medical attention. 'So many people fell out,' she said. 'The ambulance service had a lot to do.' Sources with the city told me police allocated too many officers to the car show that day. Police say they assigned 150 officers to manage public safety and traffic, including 34 who volunteered for paid extra shifts. Mayor Pro Tem Linda Pritchett said there were officers at the amphitheater, but it was not enough. She said Ross' event in Fayette needed all those officers because of the impact of the event on the South Fulton side. 'It was to make sure that those communities did not have people parking in places they shouldn't,' Pritchett said. Police said they secured eight deputies to ensure coverage at Wolf Creek. A South Fulton lieutenant was also assigned. 'Oh, I won't be back to the amphitheater,' Bankston said. 'And it's in my neighborhood.' Police Chief Keith Meadows says Ross' event had 6,000 people, and it was the largest one-day police deployment in city history. He said the Wolf Creek event was a smaller scale event, so resources were allocated accordingly. The mayor pro tem said the city will do a better job of planning for these types of events. Metro Atlanta parents ‘made a dumb decision' by giving 1-year-old beer, report says
A dinner date at a Coweta restaurant led to the arrest of a couple. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On June 3, Coweta County deputies were called to the Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom on Fischer Crossing regarding a suspicious person. When the deputy arrived, he met with a manager who pointed out a man in the parking lot, saying he was giving the baby in the back seat beer at the bar. The manager informed the deputy he had video of the incident. The deputy made contact with the man, later identified as 34-year-old Craig Banks. According to the report, Banks had a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. Banks told the deputy that he had been at the restaurant for about an hour. According to the report, while speaking with Banks, he asked why the deputy was talking to him and when the deputy responded, Banks said, 'My baby is one, why the [expletive] would I do that?' Banks told the deputy he and his wife, identified as Paetyn Gregory, 30, went to the restaurant to have one drink. The bartender said Banks ordered a 23-ounce Yuengling Beer. While holding the child, Gregory explained to the deputy, they hadn't been drinking, and she gave the child a sip of her tea, and she knew nothing about the child drinking beer. According to the report, it happened about six times, each time the bartender turned around. Gregory gave the baby to the father to get a high chair and continued to give the child beer, authorities said. Once Gregory came back with the chair, Banks put the child in the chair, looked over to see if anyone was looking, and continued to give the child beer out of his glass as the child's mother was still watching and laughing, according to the report. Deputies said Gregory was seen on video laughing the whole time Banks was giving the kid the beer, after telling officers she didn't think about it. [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter] Deputies went back outside and arrested Banks. When deputies asked Gregory about the incident, she said, 'She wasn't thinking and made a dumb decision.' She told deputies the child turned one last month. She was then arrested. Both parents were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They were booked into the Coweta County Jail. The child was picked turned over into the care of a grandparent.

Traffic Alert: Deadly crash in Yulee closes parts of U.S. 17
Drivers in Yulee are being asked to avoid the area at Goodbread Road and U.S. 17. Parts of U.S. 17 are closed in both directions because of a deadly crash. Nassau County deputies are redirecting traffic. Drivers are being turned around at U.S. 17 and County Road 218. The Florida Highway Patrol is also on the scene.
