Aaron Judge bobbles catch after bump with fan, gets fan interference call on umpire review

Aaron Judge got an out the adventurous way during the sixth inning of the New York Yankees' game on Tuesday.
With two outs and no runners on base, Cleveland Guardians center fielder Angel Martínez hit a fly ball that veered into foul territory in right field. Judge had the ball all the way up to the wall, but a fan got his hands in the way just as it was about to hit leather.

The two-time AL MVP made a valiant effort on the bobble, but eventually had it fall to the ground.
The Yankees quickly challenged the call on fan interference and succeeded. Martinez was called out to end the inning. There have been no reports of the fan being ejected.
The play was an odd moment in what has so far been another stellar season for Judge, who was named AL Player of the Month for May earlier Tuesday. He entered Tuesday slashing .391/.485/.764, with all three numbers tops in the AL. He is the overwhelming favorite to win his second straight MVP award.
Fan interference has been a recurring issue over the past eight months or so. The Yankees experienced two different incidents in the 2024 World Series, and there was another one in April that saw Mike Trout and a Houston Astros fan make nice after the game.

Renegade A-Rod: Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers informed the #Steelers he'll fly to Pittsburgh on Friday and sign before next week's minicamp, sources tell The Insiders. Finally, a done deal: Rodgers, 41, will play his 21st NFL season in black and gold. — Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) June 5, 2025 This follows his two-year stint with the New York Jets. Rodgers missed all but four snaps of the 2023 NFL season with a ruptured Achilles and returned for a 5-12 campaign with the Jets in 2024. After that subpar campaign in 2024, the team overhauled the coaching staff and front office. The new personnel decided against keeping Rodgers on the roster entering the first year of the regime. That created an unusual situation in NFL free agency: a four-time NFL MVP and Super Bowl champion quarterback on the open market. Rodgers is entering his age-42 season, though, which likely turned some teams off to signing him, as well as off-field concerns and attention the quarterback will likely garner. His arrival in Pittsburgh does change how the depth chart looks entering the 2025 NFL season. A year after going 10-7 with a combination of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at quarterback, the team has a range of new options to consider. Here's what to know about the Steelers' quarterback depth chart. Steelers QB depth chart With the Rodgers signing, the Steelers now have four quarterbacks on their roster entering training camps. That will likely be cut down as the regular season approaches. For now, here's the full depth chart: All four quarterbacks were not in Pittsburgh last season. Rodgers was the starter in New York in 2024, Rudolph was on the Titans, Howard was winning a national championship with Ohio State and Thompson played for the Miami Dolphins. Rudolph does have some history in Pittsburgh. He played four seasons for the Steelers and went 8-4-1 in his 13 regular season starts, including 3-0 in 2023.

Aaron Rodgers signing 1-year contract with Steelers, reports say

Aaron Rodgers signing 1-year contract with Steelers, reports say originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia Aaron Rodgers has found his new home — finally. The former New York Jets quarterback plans to sign a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers after months of speculation about his future, according to multiple reports on Thursday. Advertisement Rodgers reportedly plans to fly to Pittsburgh this week and participate in the Steelers' mandatory minicamp next week. Pittsburgh has had an active offseason, and this only makes things more interesting. The Steelers acquired star receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade earlier in the offseason, a move that will certainly benefit Rodgers. Then, they sent wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys for draft picks. The rest of the roster has been filled out in the draft, and head coach Mike Tomlin always has his team in contention. The Steelers went 10-7 last season, making the playoffs and losing in the wild card round for the fourth time in five years. Advertisement Rodgers' statistics last season with the Jets ended up looking respectable — 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions — but he has clearly lost his superstar form. The four-time MVP is 41 years old, making him the oldest quarterback in the league. Rodgers' greatest moment came in February 2011, when his first team (Green Bay Packers) defeated his newest team (Steelers) to win Super Bowl XLV. The Steelers' hope is that his presence will be an upgrade from last year, where Russell Wilson and Justin Fields split the starting quarterback role. Wilson and Fields are now in New York with the Giants and Jets, respectively. Pittsburgh's quarterback room now features Rodgers, free-agent signings Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson and sixth-round rookie Will Howard.

Aaron Rodgers plans to fly to Pittsburgh this week and participate in the Steelers mandatory minicamp next week. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) June 5, 2025 In a move that could make the AFC North the most watched division in football, Aaron Rodgers is set to sign a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Gerry Dulac reports. Adam Schefter reports that Rodgers is heading to Pittsburgh and will participate in the team's mandatory minicamp next week. Rodgers' decision has been the largest domino for the Steelers, and now the 41-year-old quarterback will head to the AFC North where he'll matchup with Joe Burrow (Bengals), Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett (Browns), and Ravens MVP candidate, Lamar Jackson. Rodgers now has about three months to build chemistry with new top wideout DK Metcalf and to adapt to offensive coordinator Arthur Smith's scheme before the season opens against his former team, the New York Jets, and their former Steelers quarterback, Justin Fields. After missing all but one game in 2023 due to an Achilles injury, Rodgers suited up for all 17 regular-season games with the Jets in 2024. Rodgers completed 368 of 584 pass attempts (63 percent) for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
