Senior IPS officers transferred across Telangana
The Telangana government has issued a fresh round of transfers and postings for senior IPS officers, reshuffling key positions across various wings and districts.
As per the government order (G.O.) dated June 4, Abhilasha Bisht (1994 batch), who was awaiting posting, has been appointed as Director of the RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy in Hyderabad. She takes over from V.V. Srinivasa Rao (1995 batch), who held the charge temporarily.
Shikha Goel (1994 batch), who previously held multiple roles, including Director General of Police, CID, and in-charge of Women Safety initiatives, has now been appointed as Director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau. She will also hold full additional charge of the Forensic Science Laboratory until further notice.
Charu Sinha (1996 batch), who has returned from Central deputation, replaces Shikha Goel as Additional Director General of Police, CID. She has also been given additional charge of Women Safety, SHE Teams, and Bharosa initiatives in Hyderabad.
In other changes, Tafseer Iqubal (2008 batch) moves from the Minorities Welfare Department to serve as DIG, Zone VI, Charminar.
Among the district-level reshuffles, D.V. Srinivasa Rao (2013 batch) has been posted as Superintendent of Police (SP), Medak, while Patil Kantilal Subhash (2020 batch) replaces him as SP, Komaram Bheem Asifabad.
S. Chaitanya Kumar (2020 batch) has been appointed as DCP, South East Zone, Hyderabad, stepping in for Subhash.

Bengaluru stampede: Panel gets one month to probe stampede
Bengaluru: Karnataka govt Saturday gave retired high court judge Justice John Michael D'Cunha, who heads a one-member judicial commission, one month to investigate the stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium that left 11 people dead and 75 injured. The govt issued a fresh notification on June 5, assigning priority to the probe into the tragedy that occurred during RCB's IPL victory celebrations. Justice D'Cunha was already heading a commission investigating two sensitive cases — the alleged Covid-era medical procurement scam and deaths of patients due to suspected oxygen shortage at Chamarajanagar district hospital. Initially appointed on Aug 25, 2023, the commission's term was extended in Oct 2024 till July 31, 2025. To accommodate the stampede inquiry, the govt has now extended the panel's term by another month. "Since the commission needs to prioritise the stampede incident and submit its report in a month after completing probe, the term has been extended from Aug 1 to Aug 31, 2025, as it may need extra time to look into the case," the government order stated. The Congress govt has launched a three-tier investigation into the incident — judicial, magisterial and by Criminal Investigation Department (CID). While Justice D'Cunha leads the judicial inquiry, a magisterial probe is being conducted by deputy commissioner of Bengaluru Urban, and CID is holding a parallel investigation. Multiple probes confusing: HD Kumaraswamy Union minister HD Kumaraswamy of JD(S) slammed the govt's approach, calling out the multiple probes as overlapping and confusing. "The govt wants to show that it has taken measures before the high court takes up the suo-motu PIL into the issue. The govt first ordered a magisterial probe, then appointed a commission headed by a retired HC judge, and the case was also handed over to CID. Which report are you going to accept?" he asked.

Home Minister Amit Shah felicitates Chhattisgarh police officers
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday (June 7, 2025) met police officers from Chhattisgarh who played a key role in recent anti-Maoist operations. Congratulating them on the success of these operations, he said that the Union Government is 'committed to freeing India from the menace of Maoism'. In a post on X, the Home Minister said, 'Met the officers who played a crucial role in the recent anti-Maoist operations and congratulated them on the historic success of these operations. I am eager to meet the brave jawans who made these operations successful with their courage and will soon visit Chhattisgarh to meet them. The Modi Government is committed to freeing India from the menace of Maoism.' The police officers were felicitated for recent operation carried out by the Chhattisgarh Police, including its District Reserve Guards (DRG) units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts, in the interior areas of Abujhmad from May 18 to 21. On May 21, during an encounter in the forests of Boter village, 27 Maoists, including Communist Party of India (Maoist) general secretary and Polit Bureau member Basavaraju, alias Gaganna, were killed. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition too were recovered. The officers involved in the operation, including Chhattisgarh Director-General of Police Arun Dev Gautam; Additional DGP (Anti-Maoist Operations/SIB/STF) Vivekanand; Inspector-General of Police (Bastar Range) Sundarraj; Superintendent of Police (Narayanpur) Prabhat Kumar; Superintendent of Police (Bijapur) Jitendra Yadav; and Superintendent of Police (Maoist-free Bastar District) Shalabh Singh, were felicitated by Mr. Shah. The event was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai; Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sharma; Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan; Director, Intelligence Bureau Tapan Kumar Deka; and several other senior officials.

"They are dragging Pahalgam attack, Prayagraj stampede into Bengaluru stampede": Kumaraswamy accuses Karnataka govt of diversionary tactics
Mandya (Karnataka) [India], June 7 (ANI): Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday demanded clarity from the Karnataka government regarding its investigation into the stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He also accused the Congress-led government of 'dragging in' the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the Prayagraj stampede to deflect criticism over its own failures. 'The government is making decisions every hour on the stampede issue. What will they do in the end? First, there was a judicial investigation. Now there is a CID investigation. Finally, they will get the investigation report. What is this government doing? If any decision is made, there should be clarity,' Kumaraswamy told reporters. 'The government is a complete are dragging Pahalgam and Prayagraj here for the mistakes they made. What is the connection between the Pahalgam incident and this?' he added. Earlier, top senior officials of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), secretary A Shankar and treasurer ES Jairam, tendered their resignations from their posts, taking 'moral responsibility' for the stampede that took place near M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team's felicitation after winning their Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a tight final on Tuesday. As per ESPNCricinfo, the resignation has been submitted to the president of the board, Raghuram Bhat. Also in Bengaluru, CID officials paid a visit to KSCA office, with the state government having ordered a CID probe into the stampede case. The stampede left 11 people dead and several others injured. Communicating to KSCA on Friday night, both Shankar and Jairam wrote as quoted by ESPNCricinfo, 'Due to the unforeseen and unfortunate events that have unfolded in the last two days, and though our role was very limited, but owing moral responsibility, we wish to state that last night we have tendered our resignation to our respective posts as secretary and treasurer of the KSCA.' The Bengaluru Police also filed a first information report (FIR) against the popular IPL franchise on Thursday. The police have said that RCB was not given permission to conduct the event at the stadium. RCB has been listed as the first accused in the FIR, along with DNA Entertainment, the franchise's event partners, and the KSCA, which is in control of the stadium. On Friday, the cops also confirmed the arrest of RCB's marketing and revenue head Nikhil Sosale, while acting on directives of newly appointed police commissioner SK Singh, who took over after his predecessor was removed by the chief minister Siddaramaiah after the incident.
