Sean 'Diddy' Combs trial updates: Kanye West at court, says he's supporting Combs
The hip-hop mogul is charged with sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. 2:19 This story may contain accounts and descriptions of actual or alleged events that some readers may find disturbing. This is week five of testimony in the trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs. Key Headlines 3 hours and 56 minutes ago Juror 6 dismissed over 'inconsistencies' about where he lived: Judge 3 hours and 56 minutes ago Combs' assistant testifies personal errands were part of his job 4:02 PM EDT Combs' assistant testified he set up hotel rooms, procured drugs 2:56 PM EDT Assistant testifies about alleged fight between Combs, 'Jane' Here's how the news is developing. Sean Combs trial underway The highly anticipated trial of hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is underway. Combs has been accused of sex trafficking by force, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy as part of a blockbuster federal indictment originally filed in September 2024. He later faced two additional superseding indictments. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. Combs is accused of being the ringleader of an alleged enterprise that "abused, threatened and coerced women" into prolonged, drug-fueled sexual orgies with male prostitutes, which he called "freak offs," and then threatened them into silence. Combs has said that all of the sex was consensual and that while his relationships sometimes involved domestic violence, he wasn't engaged in trafficking. Combs' lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said Combs was simply part of the swinger lifestyle and that he "vehemently denies the accusations made by the SDNY" and "looks forward to his day in court." 5 Updates 1:45 PM EDT Combs' former personal assistant takes the stand Sean Combs' former personal assistant, Jonathan Perez, testified that he saw something he shouldn't have: a video of "Jane" -- a former Combs girlfriend who took the stand under a pseudonym -- having sex with another man. Perez testified that Combs' videographer first discovered the video on an iPad. Perez testified that he went to Combs and then to chief of staff Kristina Khorram. "[Khorram] said that in the future I should just bring it to her and she would communicate to Mr. Combs," Perez recalled on the stand. "I gave her the general gist of the video that it was 'Jane' and another man." Six months later, Perez testified, Khorram brought the video up again because "she had gotten a call from someone outside the company talking about the video in some capacity." The jury heard his conversation with Khorram that she surreptitiously recorded. "I just need you to tell me step by step and don't leave out a beat," Khorram was heard saying on the recording. "An outside person brought up something." The conversation did not reveal who had approached the Combs team, but "Jane" testified that a male escort tried to extort Combs and "Jane" by saying he would release a video from a hotel night. "It is out and I just need to know step by step where you found it," Khorram was heard telling Perez on the recording. "Don't leave out anything please." Perez was heard telling Khorram on the recording, "I took the iPad, I went to the office, I saw what he was talking about, closed it." Perez testified that another employee advised him to delete the video, but he didn't feel comfortable doing that. Kanye West briefly watched his friend Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking trial from an overflow room. After arriving in a black Mercedes-Maybach sedan, West entered the courthouse in an all-white outfit and black sunglasses. Like any other member of the public, he had to take off his belt, empty his pockets and surrender his electronic devices before going through a metal detector. West was escorted to an elevator and taken to an empty overflow room on the 23rd floor of the courthouse. For about 10 minutes, West and his entourage were alone in the overflow room with four court officers. The rapper sat in the front row of the gallery, immediately in front of a monitor displaying a feed of the courtroom. Charlucci Finney, a music producer and longtime friend of Combs, was also in the overflow room. Finney was seen pointing out elements of the courtroom setup to West, who watched the screen intently. West watched the beginning of the testimony from Jonathan Perez, a former personal assistant to Combs. West was never able to enter the main courtroom where the trial is taking place. At one point during West's visit, a member of Combs' legal team showed up in an overflow room on a different floor, frantically looking for West. After about 30 minutes, West quietly left the courtroom and exited the courthouse. About a dozen newly sworn-in citizens were taking photos outside court when West left the building. -ABC News' Peter Charalambous Kanye West departed court after about 20 minutes. He did not make it into the main courtroom but was in the overflow room.

Dunmore man faces gun charge following altercation in borough
A Dunmore man found to be in possession of guns faces a firearm charge after a pair of incidents in the borough early Saturday, police said. Officers were investigating the report of a man assaulted by juveniles in the 300 block of North Blakely Street around 12:43 a.m. They were informed by country dispatchers that a firearm was pointed at a man in the 100 block of West Warren Street — a short distance from the assault call, according to a criminal complaint. While traveling to West Warren Street, an officer stopped three juveniles walking away from the assault scene, later determined to have been involved in the altercation, and transported them to the borough police station, police said. During the drive to the police station, officers were notified of a man walking east on West Pine Street, toward the police station, who was holding a firearm in the road, according to the criminal complaint. Then, after turning on West Pine Street, officers spotted a man walking south on Keystone Court, police said. Two other responding officers exited their patrol car and issued verbal commands to the man — later identified as Zaaki Rosario — who was walking away from them, according to the criminal complaint. A handgun and its magazine fell out of Rosario's waistband when he attempted to zip his hooded sweatshirt after turning around, officers said. Officers were also able to see a rifle underneath his sweatshirt, police said. Rosario fully cooperated with officers once the handgun fell out of his waistband, according to the criminal complaint. When officers were apprehending Rosario, they found he had a Glock 23 handgun, an American .223 long rifle, and a 9mm handgun — later determined to have an illegible, deliberately obliterated serial number, police said. Police charged Rosario, 21, with possession of a firearm with the manufacturer number altered. As of Tuesday, Rosario remained in Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for June 17 at 10:30 a.m.

Former jail employee and girlfriend of escaped New Orleans inmate arrested in connection with case
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officials with the U.S. Marshals have announced the arrest of a woman in connection to the May breakout at the Orleans Parish jail in New Orleans. U.S. Marshals officials said Darriana Burton, 28, was arrested in New Orleans on Monday, June 9. She had been wanted on a warrant for conspiracy to commit simple escape, a felony, from the Louisiana Attorney General's Office. Burton is a former jail employee and the girlfriend of Derrick Groves, one of two inmates who is still at large after the escape, the Associated Press reported. The other at-large escapee has been identified as Antoine Massey. Escaped inmate known as 'Devil in the Ozarks' found a 'short distance' from prison: sheriff Groves, Massey, and eight other inmates escaped from the Orleans Parish Prison on May 16 by yanking open a faulty cell door, removing a toilet, crawling through a hole, and scaling a barbed wire fence in the early morning hours when a lone guard left to get food. Two days before the escape, Groves made a FaceTime video call to Burton using a jail-issued iPad, authorities said. During that call, she helped him speak with a man whom police did not identify. The conversation was 'intentionally vague' and appeared to coordinate communication on other, unmonitored lines, according to a police affidavit for Burton's arrest. The exchange showed Burton's direct role in helping with Groves' escape, police said in the arrest affidavit. Burton and Groves 'were in an on-again, off-again relationship for three years,' dating back to the time when she was still working in the jail, authorities said. Burton began working at the jail in 2022, but was fired after being 'arrested and charged for bringing contraband into the jail and malfeasance in office in 2023,' the attorney general's office explained. The attorney general's office reported that the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office refused the charges in 2024. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
