Dexter: Resurrection release date set with Michael C. Hall returning as Dexter Morgan in series
The rumors are true—Dexter Morgan is not dead. Michael C. Hall will reprise his iconic role in Dexter: Resurrection, a sequel series that picks up immediately after Dexter: New Blood.
Set to premiere this summer, the show will launch with two episodes on Friday, July 11, available to stream for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers. The series will then debut on air on Sunday, July 13, at 8:00 p.m., with subsequent episodes rolling out weekly.
Dexter: Resurrection continues the story of the notorious serial killer following his revival after being shot by his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), in the previous limited series. The new storyline finds Dexter awakening from a coma, only to discover Harrison has disappeared without a trace. Motivated by guilt, Dexter embarks on a journey to New York City to find his son and make amends. However, his past quickly catches up with him when Miami Metro's Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with new questions.
Alongside Hall, the cast includes Jack Alcott, David Zayas, and Uma Thurman as Charley. New faces include Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, and Emilia Suárez. Dexter: Resurrection also features guest stars Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian. Production is currently underway in New York City.
The series, which is produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios, is showrun by Clyde Phillips, who also executive produced Dexter: New Blood. Michael C. Hall will also serve as an executive producer alongside Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Marcos Siega, with Siega directing six episodes and Monica Raymund directing four.

Lilo & Stitch' tops North America box office again

So far, its worldwide take is at a whopping $610 million, Exhibitor Relations said. Maia Kealoha (as Lilo), Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B Vance and Zach Galifianakis star, while Chris Sanders again provides the voice of the chaos-creating blue alien Stitch. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning – the latest, and ostensibly last, in the hugely successful Tom Cruise spy thriller series based on a 1960s TV show – took second place with $27.3 million in the United States and Canada. The Paramount film has made another $231 million overseas, which should help offset its massive production budget, reportedly at $400 million. Debuting in a disappointing third place was Sony's Karate Kid: Legends, a sequel featuring Ralph Macchio – – the star of the original 1984 classic – – and action flick icon Jackie Chan, along with Ben Wang in the title role. It made $21 million at the domestic box office and another $26 million overseas. "Legends is trying to invigorate the story with a new Kid – – again – – but business is not strong," said David A Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research. In fourth place was Warner Bros and New Line's horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines, at $10.8 million. And another horror film, Bring Her Back, debuted in fifth place with $7.1 million. "This is a very good opening for an original horror movie that cost only $4.5 million to make," said Gross. 'Coco' voice actress Renée Victor dies at 86
Renée Victor, the actress known for voicing Abuelita in Disney-Pixar's Coco and playing Lupita in Showtime's Weeds, has died at age 86, according to Deadline. She passed away on May 30, 2025, at her home in Sherman Oaks, California, surrounded by family. The cause of death was lymphoma, her agency confirmed. Born on July 25, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas, Victor was the eldest of three sisters. She moved to Los Angeles in the 1960s and began her entertainment career as a singer with renowned Latin bandleaders such as Xavier Cugat and Perez Prado. She also taught dance styles like salsa and tango. Alongside her husband, she performed internationally under the name 'Ray & Renee,' earning the nickname 'the Latin Sonny & Cher' during their decade-long collaboration from 1963 to 1973. After years of touring, Victor expanded her artistic reach in the 1970s by hosting Pacesetters on KTLA, a program that spotlighted the Chicano Power movement. She joined the Screen Actors Guild in 1973 and transitioned into television and film during the 1980s, appearing in series like Scarecrow and Mrs. King and Matlock. Her film roles included The Doctor, The Apostle, and A Night in Old Mexico, where she appeared alongside close friend Robert Duvall. Victor also had roles in ER, Vida, Gentefied, Snowpiercer, All Rise, Dead to Me, A Million Little Things, and With Love. She lent her voice to the 1992 animated The Addams Family series as well. Victor's daughters said in a joint statement, 'Renée was loved by so many and had fans all over the world. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.'
