Etihad Airways gears up to welcome passengers during holiday season

ABU DHABI (WAM) With multiple holiday periods approaching from March through August, Etihad Airways is preparing for a significant increase in travellers at Zayed International Airport.To ensure guests enjoy a smooth start to their journey, the airline is encouraging early planning and utilisation of its comprehensive digital services.The airline expects particularly high passenger volumes during the School Spring Break (March 20 - April 13), Eid Al Fitr (late March), Hajj Season (May), Eid Al Adha (early June), and the School Summer Break (June 18 - August 24).
Captain Majed Al Marzouqi, Etihad Airways Interim Chief Operations & Guest Officer, said, "We're preparing to welcome thousands of additional guests during these peak periods. Our teams are fully prepared to ensure every journey begins smoothly, and we recommend travellers take advantage of our numerous check-in options and digital tools to enjoy a relaxed start to their holidays."

Dubai deploys 2,800 workers to keep city clean, safe during Eid
Dubai Municipality has completed full operations for the Eid Al Adha holiday, ensuring that public places across the city remained safe, clean, and ready for visitors and residents. This included all tourist sites, parks, and entertainment areas. A total of 2,800 staff members were mobilized, including engineers, supervisors, inspectors, and other specialized workers. Their main task was to maintain high levels of health, safety, and cleanliness during the busy holiday. Out of the total workforce, 2,300 were cleaning engineers assigned to cover key areas around Dubai. The teams were supported by 752 vehicles and machines used for cleaning operations. Another 250 supervisors and inspectors were on the ground to oversee the cleaning activities and respond to urgent needs. This ensured that areas with large crowds were continuously monitored and maintained. In addition, 250 workers focused on public health, general safety, and food safety, especially in areas where people gathered for meals and celebrations. These teams made sure that hygiene standards were followed across food establishments and open spaces. The efforts are part of Dubai Municipality's commitment to provide high-quality, integrated services for the public, especially during major holidays when many Filipinos and other expats take time off to relax or spend time with their families.

Howakita, a pilgrim from Guinea, said the prospect of celebrating Eid in Makkah filled her with joy. "When I threw the stones I felt at ease. I was truly proud," she said. The stoning ritual in the Mina valley was the scene of a fatal stampede in 2015, when 2,300 people were killed in one of the deadliest Hajj disasters. A day earlier, pilgrims converged on Mount Arafat, praying and reciting Koranic verses at the 70-metre (230-foot) rocky rise near Mecca, where the Prophet Mohammed is believed to have given his last sermon. Many climbed the mount despite the searing heat, though numbers had thinned by midday following official warnings for pilgrims to stay inside between 10am and pm.
