Dolly Parton Reveals What She Really Thought About Beyonce's ‘Completely Different' Cover of ‘Jolene'
Beyoncé reimagines Dolly Parton's iconic song "Jolene" on her 2024 Cowboy Carter album, transforming it from a plea into a powerful warning Dolly Parton praises Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter, calling the album 'really, really good' and expressing pride in the bold reinterpretation of her 1973 hit Parton appears twice on Cowboy Carter, including as a fictional radio DJ on the track "Dolly P" and in a cameo at the start of Beyoncé's song "Tyrant"Don't come for her man! Dolly Parton's 1973 hit, 'Jolene," has had Parton fans singing along for decades, but in 2024, Beyoncé put a modern spin on it. Beyoncé, 43, covered the song on her 2024 album Cowboy Carter, changing the tone and key lyrics of the song to serve as more of a warning instead of Parton's plea. For example, where Parton sings, 'I'm beggin' of you, please don't take my man,' Beyonce declares, 'I'm warning you, don't come for my man.' In an interview with PEOPLE tied to the release of her single-serve frozen meals with Conagra brands, Parton gushed about Beyoncé and her musical talent. 'I'm a huge fan of hers — I mean, who's not? Everybody loves her,' Parton said. 'I think she's a magnificent artist, beautiful and the dancing in addition to the singing.' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Parton called Cowboy Carter a 'really, really good album,' one that features two cameos from the Country Music Hall of Famer. Parton is heard in the track "Dolly P," in which she plays a fake radio DJ queuing up the next set of songs. The "9 to 5" singer also contributed to the song "Tyrant," which is featured later on the record. The 10th track on the album is Beyoncé's fiery rendition of 'Jolene,' which Parton loved. 'I was just honored that she, of course, did a completely different take on 'Jolene' than than my version of it," Parton tells PEOPLE. "Hers was more like, 'Well, you're not getting him, you're not taking him, you're going to go through me to get him.' Mine was more like, 'Please don't take him!' So I loved her interpretation." She continued, 'As a writer, you like to hear how different people interpret your songs, and how they put their own spin and do their own take on it. But I was very proud of it, and I hope her tour does great, and I'm sure it will. People seem to be loving it.' Beyoncé is currently on the road for the Cowboy Carter Tour, which is set to conclude on July 26, in Paradise, Nev. Read the original article on People

Miley Cyrus Sets The Record Straight On Her Estrangement With Dad Billy Ray Cyrus
Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus are back on better terms. The singer opened up about her strained relationship with her father in a vulnerable sit-down with The New York Times 'The Interview' podcast. Interviewer Lulu Garcia-Navarro asked Cyrus if she was still estranged from her dad, to which she said 'no.' 'I think timing is everything,' the 32-year-old said. 'As I've gotten older, I'm respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents — because my mom really loved my dad for her whole life, and I think being married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it is obviously really hard.' The 'Flowers' singer said she thought she 'took on some of my mom's hurt as my own because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult, and so I owned a lot of her pain.' Now that both of her parents are with other people, Cyrus said that she 'can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing.' 'I'm being an adult about it,' she said. 'At first it's hard, because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, 'Yes, that's your dad, but that's just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy.' My child self has caught up.' Speculation swirled that Cyrus and her 'Achy Breaky Heart' father were on strained terms after her siblings appeared to take sides following their parents' 2022 divorce. Cyrus previously denied being estranged from her father in an interview with David Letterman last year, in which she spoke about Billy Ray's 'narcissism' and said she was mostly raised by her mother. During the sit-down, Letterman said, 'There's not estrangement here with your father, it's just, kinda, the way things are played?' 'Yeah,' Cyrus said at the time. 'I think, what is so beautiful is that my parents ― they served their children, and I know this. My parents served us and sacrificed so much for us. Anything we dreamed of, they made possible.' Despite Cyrus' denial of a rift with her father, the singer seemed to purposefully leave her father out of her acceptance speech when she won her first Grammy in early 2024. She thanked her mom, sister Brandi Cyrus and her boyfriend, Maxx Morando ― seemingly leaving out her other siblings and father on purpose as she shouted out: '...all the people that we love! I don't think I've forgotten anyone.' To add to the speculation, Miley Cyrus and two of her siblings attended their mom Tish's wedding to 'Prison Break' actor Dominic Purcell in 2023. Notably absent were Cyrus' two siblings ― Braison and Noah Cyrus, the latter of whom was photographed wearing a Billy Ray Cyrus shirt over Tish's wedding weekend. The 'Wicked: For Good' trailer is coming to select theaters Wednesday
Grab your broomstick and your bestie: Wicked is returning to theaters on Wednesday, June 4, and it's bringing the trailer for Wicked: For Good along with it. The first part of the Broadway musical adaptation hit theaters on Nov. 22, 2024, to critical and commercial acclaim. The final half of the two-part film is slated to arrive in theaters almost exactly one year later, on Nov. 21, 2025. But the Wizard of Oz prequel, which stars Cynthia Erivo as 'Wicked Witch' Elphaba and Ariana Grande as the supposedly 'good' witch Glinda, is so highly anticipated that even the premiere of its trailer was announced alongside these special one-night screenings taking place in North American theaters this week. The screenings are scheduled to happen simultaneously across all U.S. time zones, so everyone can watch the trailer at the same time, no matter where they are. They're slated for this Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET, 5 p.m. CT, 4 p.m. MT, and 3 p.m. PT. After the live screenings, the trailer will be available for all to watch online. The Wicked screenings are not specific to any theater chain. You can look up screenings in your area here. Wicked: For Good picks up after Elphaba defied gravity on her broomstick and narrowly escaped the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) in order to save the animals subjugated by their tyrannical rule. Meanwhile, Elphaba's best friend, Glinda — afraid to give up her social status — chose to stay behind rather than join in on her mission. Wicked: For Good places Glinda and Elphaba on opposite sides of major drama in Oz, with Glinda — who is still dating prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) — acting as the Wizard's spokesperson. Meanwhile, the Wizard's henchmen are seeking to find and kill Elphaba, who all of Oz now considers 'wicked' thanks to good old-fashioned propaganda. How will this story end? Well, if you saw The Wizard of Oz, you probably think you know — with Dorothy and company dousing poor Elphie with water and killing her. Yet Wicked: For Good may surprise you — at least, if you haven't seen the musical.
