Two people shot dead at Irish bar in popular Costa del Sol holiday resort
A masked man is said to have entered Monaghans, Fuengirola and killed his victims in front of horrified tourists and expats enjoying a drink after the end of the Champions League final before fleeing in a getaway vehicle.
Some reports speak of two gunmen, although this has yet to be confirmed by police.
The nationalities of the two people killed has not yet been made public, although local media are saying neither is Spanish.
Grisly pictures from the scene of last night's shooting, which occurred around 11.30pm, show a man lying lifeless on his back in shorts and a T-shirt by a drinks and meal blackboard on an outside terrace at the Irish bar.
In other disturbing images police and paramedics can be seen surrounding the body of one of the victims, thought to be the same man, after he was covered under a blanket as shocked locals and holidaymakers looked on.
There are no reports yet of any arrests, although police set up roadblocks in the area after the shooting to try to catch those responsible.
Unconfirmed local reports are pointing to the horror crime being a possible gang-related shooting because of the way it was executed.
The latest gun murders follow the fatal shooting nearly six weeks ago of a 32-year-old British man in nearby Calahonda.
He was shot dead around 8pm on April 21 in a professional hit as he headed back to his car after finishing a football match with friends.
The killers fled in a getaway car that was later torched. Police are investigating the brutal assassination as a drug-related gang shooting but have yet to make any arrests.
The victim has not been named but was known to come from Liverpool.
Reports at the time described the incident as the fourth shooting so far that month on the Costa del Sol, where rival gangs have increasingly used extreme violence to settle scores and a number of international mafias are known to have a base.
Dua Lipa and Gary Lineker join stars calling on PM to halt all arms sales to Israel
Four days before the Calahonda shooting a 34-year-old man was rushed to the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella after being shot outside a nightclub in the famous Costa del Sol resort.
National Police are investigating the latest attack.
Monaghans Fuengirola describes itself online as a place 'where you can relax and spend the day enjoying great home cooked meals on a sunny terrace and watch live sporting events.'
It also bills itself as a 'family friendly sports bar and restaurant located in Torreblanca, Fuengirola opposite one of the area's most popular beaches.'
Torreblanca is to the east of Fuengirola town centre and a stone's throw from an area called Los Boliches.
The Malaga branch of hard-right Spanish party Vox said in a post on X, referencing the series of recent shootings on the Costa del Sol: 'A new shooting in the province of Malaga, this time in Fuengirola.
'What are the Popular Party and the governing PSOE party waiting for to increase the presence of police and other state security forces on the Costa del Sol?
'We have been demanding urgent measures to end these shootings for several weeks now.'

Deadly Lyons gang set to seek bloody revenge over killings of key lieutenants in Spain
The notorious Lyons crime clan will seek bloody revenge following the shock killing of two of their major players in a pub on the Costa del Sol, it is feared. Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46, were among Scotland's most high-profile underworld figures when they were gunned down at Monaghan's bar in Fuengirola on Saturday, May 31. The pair were watching the Champions League final when a masked gunman fired multiple rounds at the pub at around 11.30pm, hitting both of them before escaping in a vehicle driven by an accomplice. The Lyons gang - one of the most deadly crime outfits in Scotland - has been left reeling in the wake of the double murder. Underworld sources have said other associates will not let the brutal attack go unanswered. One source told the Irish Mirror: "There will be hell to pay over this. The Lyons lads will not let this go. "They will be baying for blood and it is more likely to happen in Spain than anywhere else. That is the fear." Pictures from the scene showed emergency services surrounding a body covered with a blanket, as shocked locals and tourists watched on. The execution comes amidst a violent turf war that has been raging across Scotland since March. The Daniel and Lyons crime families have been linked to the fresh feud after a series of assaults, shootings and firebombings across Glasgow and Edinburgh. Spanish detectives have yet to confirm if the double murder on the Costa del Sol is connected to the recent violence, which has resulted in more than 30 arrests. T he shooting on Saturday is the most significant gangland development since 2010 when Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll, an enforcer for the Daniel clan, was shot dead in an Asda car park in Robroyston. Monaghan was tried for the killing, but was cleared in May 2012. In August 2017, both Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr were both acquitted for involvement in a horror street attack outside a pub in Bishopbriggs, which left one of the three victims with their ear hanging off. The case fell apart after charges against them were withdrawn after a court heard two days of evidence. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Monaghan had also survived a previous attempt on his life, when he was shot by a gunman disguised as a dad pushing a pram outside a Glasgow primary school in 2017. It is believed he moved to Spain following the incident. An attempt on Eddie Jnr's life around 18 years ago saw Kevin Carroll ambush him in Bellshill. Earlier this year, violence erupted in the capital after Dubai-based Mr Big - recently unmasked as former Rangers ultra and Union Bears boss Ross McGill - was ripped off in a £500,000 cocaine deal by caged kingpin Mark Richardson's cronies when the buyers used fake bank notes. Ever since, gangster Mr Big has been targeting the homes, properties, businesses and vehicles of Richardson's associates, including the Daniel clan. His enforcers, the faceless group known as Tamo Junto (TMJ) have carried out a series of terrifying fire bombings and other attacks. Despite reports of a truce between the Daniel and Lyons families, the group have vowed to continue the turf war. The Lyons clan were said to have been feeding McGill information about the Daniel family, but boss Steven Lyons made the call to concentrate on his own interests.

Heist film starring British acting royalty now streaming on Prime but fans all say the same thing
Although the movie's cast is dotted with acting royalty as well as thrilling source material, the film failed to make an impact — both commercially and critically. Directed by James March, King of Thieves is a 2018 British heist film based on a true story. Co-written by Joe Penhall, Duncan Campbell, and Mark Seal, the movie depicts the real-life events of the Hatton Garden safe deposit burglary — a heist that was executed over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in April 2015 by a group of experienced elderly thieves. Starring acting heavyweights like Michael Caine, Tom Courtenay, Michael Gambon, Francesca Annis, Charlie Cox, Jim Broadbent, Paul Whitehouse and Ray Winstone — the true crime movie follows a gang of retired criminals (and one young-blooded alarms expert). The group plans and executes a daring robbery in London's jewellery district during the Easter Bank Holiday weekend. However, greed quickly turns their last hurrah into a collapsing nightmare. Although the movie's cast is dotted with acting royalty as well as thrilling source material, King of Thieves failed to make an impact — both commercially and critically. According to Box Office Mojo, the film garnered only $7,518 domestically in the United States and Canada, of which $3,502 was earned during the opening weekend. The movie grossed approximately $11.5 million at the worldwide box-office. Most of its scenes were filmed in central London and around Margate in Kent, featuring locations such as the Wig and Pen Pub, the Nayland Rock Hotel, Harbour Arm, the area outside Turner Contemporary, and Margate railway station. Abbott's Cliff in Dover is also visible in the train scene where Brian Reader (Michael Caine) travels to Margate. With a 31 per cent review rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie didn't manage to make too many waves. Critics and audiences were left unimpressed with the film's execution, with one reviewer writing: 'The Hatton Gardens heist was a ballsy operation. You can't say the same about King of Thieves.' Another critic said: 'King of Thieves really should have delivered way more cinematic swag than it does.' While one wrote: 'Torn between jaunty genre hijinks and a bleaker streak of realism, it's a strangely stiff, lethargic account of a cracking tale.' A harsh critical review of the film said: 'There is one joke in King of Thieves, and it's that the thieves are old. That's it—that's the whole movie,' while another one said: 'Marsh had his hands on some very fancy jewels. What he didn't have, sadly, was the script to make them gleam.' Audiences were left disappointed as well, with one viewer saying: 'Passes the time but little else. Tries hard to be both a comedy and a thriller but doesn't really succeed at either. For such a daring burglary, this could have surely been done a lot better.' Another audience review compared the film to the botched heist and wrote: 'Based on a real account of a robbery in London and featuring a superb all British cast. Very much like the botched heist, the plot here is in shambles all over the place.' Yet another viewer couldn't hide their disappointment and said: 'It's poorly written. The heist isn't that exciting. The humour isn't funny.' While one viewer added: 'Not a gripping tale. At times the audience were laughing - was this supposed to be a comedy??? Difficult to remember the names of the was who?" They further said: "Undoubtedly the royalty of British male actors but the story was weak. It could have been much better if there was character and story development of the Police activity pitted against the perpetrators. Shame - not worth a look.'
