Antisemitism incidents drop in Arizona in 2024 despite national increase; Assaults rise
Antisemitic incidents across Arizona fell 25% in 2024, despite a slight increase nationally, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
The findings were reported in ADL's Annual Audit of Antisemitic Incidents. The nonprofit organization focuses on antisemitism but also tracks other forms of hate.
ADL reported a sharp decrease in incidents of harassment and campus-related antisemitic events in Arizona. But, incidents of assault and vandalism increased, both of which increased nationally, ADL found.
"We are particularly concerned about the rise in antisemitic vandalism and the return of assaults, which speak to a dangerous normalization of hate," said Sarah Kader, the deputy regional director for ADL, in a news release. "Every incident is one too many, and Jewish communities across Arizona deserve to feel safe in their schools, neighborhoods and places of worship."
ADL noted that their methods were "careful to not conflate general criticism of Israel or anti-Israel activism with antisemitism."
Here's what the report said.
According to data compiled by ADL, incidents of antisemitic assault in Arizona increased from 0 in 2023 to 2 in 2024. There was one assault each in 2019 and 2022 and none in 2020 and 2021.
The report said assaults were defined as cases where Jewish people or those perceived to be Jewish were targeted with physical violence accompanied by evidence of antisemitic motives.
Incidents of vandalism in Arizona increased by 18%, matching nationwide trends. There were 26 reported incidents of vandalism in 2024, up from 22 in 2023.
The report also noted that incidents of antisemitic harassment fell from 141 to 42, and campus-related antisemitic incidents decreased by 33%.
'These numbers are a stark reminder that while there are some encouraging signs, like the drop in harassment, antisemitism is far from behind us,' Kader said.
ADL said there was a massive spike in antisemitic incidents following the events of Oct. 7, 2023, and that part of the nationwide increase in total incidents stemmed from the Hamas attack in Israel.
There was a 5% increase in antisemitic incidents nationally, totaling 9,354. The majority of incidents were categorized as harassment or vandalism.
ADL reported a total of 196 assaults, a 21% increase from 2023.
The states with the highest numbers of incidents were California and New York, reporting 1,344 and 1,437, respectively. Their largest cities, Los Angeles and New York City, also reported the most incidents. There were 297 incidents in Los Angeles and 976 in New York City, according to ADL.

Liberals, anti-Trump figures bash ABC for suspending Terry Moran over anti-Trump social media rant
Liberal pundits and anti-Trump figures slammed ABC News for suspending longtime correspondent Terry Moran after he ranted on social media about President Donald Trump and Stephen Miller. "They can clutch their pearls and act mad but this is spot on from Moran," Tommy Vietor, a co-host of "Pod Save America," wrote, reacting to Moran's deleted social media post that referred to both men as "world-class hater[s]." Moran called out Trump and Miller on social media early Sunday morning and proceeded to delete the post. An ABC News spokesperson told Fox News Digital in a statement that Moran was suspended, saying, "The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards." "MAGA, I thought you all defended free speech and the First Amendment, right? Why are you so upset about Terry Moran's comments? Stop being such snowflakes, right? Stop looking for safe spaces. Man up," posted left-wing writer Wajahat Ali, who edits "The Left Hook" Substack. Joe Walsh, a former GOP congressman who joined the Democratic Party this year, said, "shame on you, @abcnews." "Way to NOT stand up for a free press," he added. In another post on X, Walsh called the suspension of Moran "utter b-------," and said, "You're the free press. You don't do what the authoritarian in the White House tells you to do. Thank you @TerryMoran for having the courage to speak the truth." "What Moran reported was demonstrable fact. Indisputable fact. Yet they suspend him. This is the advantage that Trump and his ilk have. They are so beyond the moral pale, so beyond normality, that it is considered impolite, impolitic, or intemperate to describe them as they are," Lincoln Project co-founder George Conway wrote. Medhi Hasan, a former MSNBC host who started his own publication, Zeteo, directed his criticism at the Trump officials who defended the president and Miller. "Snowflakes. Pretend free speech warriors. Getting journalists suspended and calling for their firing. Hypocrites," Hasan wrote. Hasan also posted on Bluesky that Moran's suspension was "'ironic given Moran went out of his way to not embarrass Trump over the president's delusion about the doctored MS13 photo, repeatedly saying 'let's agree to disagree' and 'let's move on' but they still got him suspended. You can't appease these people ever." Moran interviewed Trump about his first 100 days in office, during which Trump repeatedly called out Moran and ABC News. Trump accused Moran of "not being very nice" during an exchange about the deportation of illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia. "They're giving you the big break of a lifetime," Trump told Moran. "You're doing the interview, I picked you because, frankly, I never heard of you, but that's OK. I picked you, Terry, but you're not being very nice." Far-left former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann re-posted Moran's attacks on Miller and Trump, and called out Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, which owns ABC News. "Another coward named @RobertIger responded by letting ABC News suspend Terry indefinitely for telling the truth," Olbermann wrote. "I have copied Terry's words here and I encourage everybody, journalists especially, to do the same, or cut and paste what I've written, and put it out under your name." Others also called on their followers to share Moran's deleted post. Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of MeidasTouch, a liberal website, said Moran's suspension was a product of corporate journalism. "Independent journalism is when you can write what Terry Moran wrote without getting in trouble. Corporate journalism is when you can't," he wrote. ABC News did not immediately return a request for comment. Moran's suspension for airing his thoughts comes as public trust in the media continues to steadily erode. A Gallup survey last year showed a record-low 31 percent of Americans expressed at least a "fair amount" of trust in the media to accurately report the news. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to Moran's post on X, Sunday, calling it "unhinged and unacceptable."

Greensboro's ‘Run for Their Lives' march supports release of Israeli hostages
GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — People advocating for the release of Israeli hostages still held by Hamas gathered this afternoon in Greensboro near the Friendly Center as part of a worldwide effort called Run for Their Lives. For many, it was important to march a week after the Run for Their Lives march in Boulder, Colorado, was firebombed with Molotov cocktails. Among the dozens who gathered in Greensboro, the mission was clear: bring the 55 hostages home, of whom half remain alive. 'We felt that it was really important that we show solidarity with the hostages who have been languishing, held in captivity by Hamas terrorists,' said Rabbi Andy Koren of Temple Emanuel Greensboro. Koren says the Greensboro march on Friendly Avenue is like a patch in a quilt, every march worldwide making the call for release stronger, larger, more supportive. 'The message is intended for their families in Israel, our extended families in Israel,' he added. Rabbi Koren bore a number on his chest: 611. Sunday marked 611 days since Hamas attacked Israel. Every step was filled with a range of emotions, from unity to determination. 'This is not a time to shy away or disappear, this is a time to be proud, to be seen, and to stand up for the innocent hostages taken from their homes,' said Glenda Bernhardt, CEO of the Greensboro Jewish Federation. The silent walk was 18 minutes long because in Jewish culture, 18 is meaningful. 'It is our number of life,' said Koren. Many marchers took the opportunity to reflect on the perils of the war, including Steven Greenstein, a dual Israeli American citizen. 'It's time for the war to end, it's time for hostages to come home,' said Greenstein. Greenstein, among other marchers, vows to keep advocating for the hostages until the day all are home. 'We've been walking now for over two years in extreme heat, in rain, in thunderstorms, in wind, and none of these elements even compare to what the hostages eare nduring at the moment,' said Greenstein. The group gathered to contribute their part of the patchwork quilt, a video message to post online. 'Bring them home, and stand with Boulder, Colorado,' they said in part on camera. A sea of signs, faces of those held captive, and both Israeli, and American flags waving…a testament to a shared goal, for the war to end. 'We're just grateful for those who stand together with us also, we are not asking for people to be hateful, we are asking for people to be supportive, and they really were,' said Koren. According to the UN, about 55,000 Palestinians have been killed in the war, as well as 1,200 Israelis since October 2023. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. GOP leadership unleashes fury on Dem governor ahead of blockbuster congressional hearing
FIRST ON FOX: House Republican leadership slammed Democratic Gov. Tim Walz ahead of a blockbuster congressional hearing addressing sanctuary city policy this week. GOP Whip and Minnesota Rep. Tom Emmer wished Walz "good luck" before the former vice presidential candidate is set to testify alongside Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul at a House Oversight Committee hearing on Thursday. "From hurling outrageous insults against ICE agents to offering a multitude of taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens in Minnesota, Tim Walz's immigration agenda can be summed up easily: pro-illegal alien, anti-Minnesotan," GOP Whip Emmer told Fox News Digital. "If Tim Walz thinks he will be able to defend his abysmal record before Congress, then he's even more of a buffoon than I thought. I only have one thing to say to Timmy as he heads to Washington this week: GOOD LUCK." Handful Of House Democrats Join Republicans In Sanctuary City Crackdown Emmer paired his comments to Fox News Digital with a new video slamming Walz's various immigration policies titled "Protecting Illegals, Not Minnesotans: That's the Walz Way." Read On The Fox News App The three "sanctuary governors" will face a barrage of questions from members of the committee this week, as anti-ICE riots raged in Los Angeles over the weekend and the Trump administration continues to ramp up deportations across the country. Though the term "sanctuary city" is not legally defined, illegal immigrants will flock to the mainly Democrat-led regions to reduce the likelihood of deportation. Sanctuary cities often refuse Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) requests for information, like arrests or releases, and typically deny ICE detainer requests to hold jailed illegal migrants beyond their release date. California Republicans Slam Newsom, Bass For Letting La Burn With Riots Amid Trump Immigration Blitz House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Kentucky, said in a media advisory for the upcoming hearing that "The governors of these states must explain why they are prioritizing the protection of criminal illegal aliens over the safety of U.S. citizens." "Sanctuary policies only provide sanctuaries for criminal illegal aliens." Comer explained. "Former President Biden created the worst border crisis in U.S. history and allowed criminal illegal aliens to flood our communities." "The Trump Administration is taking decisive action to deport criminal illegal aliens from our nation but reckless sanctuary states like Illinois, Minnesota, and New York are actively seeking to obstruct federal immigration enforcement." 'Sick Puppy' Tim Walz Should Never Have Been On Dems' 2024 Ticket, Trump Says The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 12 at 10 a.m. ET. Fox News Digital reached out to Walz but did not receive a article source: GOP leadership unleashes fury on Dem governor ahead of blockbuster congressional hearing
