Houston Rockets Shooting Guard Jalen Green weighs in on NBA Play-In Tournament
We catch up with Houston Rockets shooting guard Jalen Green, and talk about his partnership with Wingstop.
LaVar Ball, the CEO of Big Baller Brand and father of Lonzo Ball, LiAngelo Ball and LaMelo Ball, has acknowledged reports that he recently had his right foot amputated.
Appearing in a video posted to TikTok user Primby's account, Ball even makes light of his surgery: "Everyone heard what happened. And y'all can take my foot, but you know what you can't take? That Primby account." He continues by singing along to his son LiAngelo's recent hit single "Tweaker."
TMZ first reported last Wednesday that the procedure occurred after LaVar Ball suffered "a serious medical issue." The outlet circulated an image of Ball using a wheelchair with a bandage over his right leg.
It's not clear what medical issue led to Ball's amputation.
His youngest son, Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, posted a photo of the two of them on Instagram last week saying, "i love u pops".
The other two sons – Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball, 27, and social media star LiAngelo Ball, 26 – have not commented publicly on their dad's health.
LaVar Ball used to be a mainstay in the headlines, regularly hyping up his sons and showing off his larger-than-life personality. But Ball has largely remained out of the public eye in recent years.
Ball was born and raised in Los Angeles and attended Canoga Park High School, where he played basketball, football and ran track. He went on to play one season at West Los Angeles College and later transferred to Washington State, an NCAA Division I school. He averaged 2.2 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 26 games (six starts) in 1987-88. Ball transferred again after one season to Cal State Los Angeles, an NCAA Division II school where he met his future wife, Tina Slatinsky. They married in 1997.
Following his basketball career, Ball shifted back to football and played tight end at Long Beach City College for one season. He signed with the New York Jets as a free agent defensive end in 1994. He was on the Jets practice squad in 1994 and 1995 under head coaches Pete Carroll and Rich Kotite. He also briefly spent time on the Carolina Panthers' practice squad, according to the Charlotte Observer.
Despite telling USA TODAY Sports in 2017 that he "would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one" in his prime, Ball's own athletic prowess didn't make headlines. It was his boisterous personality and over-the-top promotion of his sons that captivated (or infuriated) the nation, depending on who you ask.
The Ball brothers and their outspoken dad burst onto the scene in 2016 when Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo led Chino Hills High School to a perfect 35-0 record, a state championship and No. 1 overall ranking in the nation. Ball parlayed the family's fame into the sports apparel company Big Baller Brand, which he co-founded in 2016.
Ball is not the only member of the family who has dealt with medical adversity. Lonzo Ball, the No. 2 pick in the 2017 draft, was sidelined nearly three years with a recurring left knee injury that required three surgeries. He returned to the court for the Chicago Bulls in October after last playing for the team on Jan. 14, 2022.
Tina Ball, mother of the Ball brothers, suffered a stroke in February 2017.
"I just deal with it. Whatever it is," Ball told ESPN at the time. "Things are gonna happen in life. Either you are gonna help do something about it or you just gonna let it happen and destroy you."

Report: Suns, Kevin Durant's representatives sorting through multiple trade offers
With an increasing sense in league circles that Giannis Antetokounmpo will remain in Milwaukee, trade speculation is ramping up around the second biggest name on the market: Kevin Durant. The Phoenix Suns and Durant's representation — led by KD's business partner Rich Kleiman — are sorting through offers, working together to find a trade that works for all involved, reports Shams Charania of ESPN. Teams that have expressed interest in Durant, sources said, mainly feature the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks. Several wild-card suitors have made inquiries on Durant in the past seven to 10 days, sources said... Suns officials and Kleiman will continue to meet on trade conversations -- with talks expected to escalate before the NBA draft later this month. Because Durant is entering the final year of his current contract ($54.7 million), he has some leverage in the situation. Teams are not going to give up the kind of haul Phoenix is seeking to rent Durant for a year. Whoever trades for Durant will likely sign him to an extension, one that is at or near the maximum of two years, $122 million. The Suns reportedly are looking for depth and players who can help them retool quickly around Devin Booker, as well as draft capital. With the Suns over the second apron of the luxury tax, a third team (or more) is almost certainly involved in any Durant trade to make the numbers work under the more restrictive CBA. Here's a closer look at the teams mentioned. • San Antonio Spurs. Durant to the Spurs is the rumor with the most heat, there is a growing sense in some circles they are the front runners. The idea for the Spurs is that trading for Durant, pairing him with Victor Wembanyama and De'Aaron Fox, and having him as an example for about-to-be-drafted Dylan Harper, makes the Spurs a dangerous team next season in the West and helps build a culture for the future. Durant is not on the timeline of those other players, but the Spurs could view this as the best path to being a threat in the deep Western Conference next season. The trade would likely involve something like Devin Vassell or Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, Harrison Barnes and this year's No. 14 pick. There is zero chance the Spurs are giving up the No. 2 pick for KD. • New York Knicks. It's unclear just how serious these talks are. While a Karl-Anthony Towns for Durant works as the core of a trade (and Devin Booker and KAT have Kentucky ties), it would take a third team coming in (because the Suns are over the second apron, so some money has to go elsewhere) and for a Suns team looking to add depth and draft picks, it's hard to see a path to a trade both teams would like. Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reports the Knicks are out of the running. The Knicks are not in the mix for Kevin Durant, the Post has learnedhttps:// • Houston Rockets. While Houston certainly put together a package of picks — they control the Suns' 2027 and 2029 first rounders — and young players that would interest Phoenix, reports from people around the Rockets from the start have said they have a limited interest in Durant because he does not match up with the timeline of the rest of their core (Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, etc.). If the Rockets could get Durant on a steal of a deal it's one thing, but whether they would put together the best offer is another question. A trade could involve Green, this year's No. 10 pick and some other players, and it would require a third team to make the math work under the second apron. • Minnesota Timberwolves. This is a team that has been to the Western Conference Finals for consecutive years and is looking for the player who can put them over the top. Durant might be that guy, and he is Anthony Edwards' idol. Maybe the biggest challenge is logistics, with both teams over the second apron, this trade would take at least three and likely four or more teams to make work. Reports out of Minnesota say Jaden McDaniels and Naz Ried are off the table in any trade for Durant, so it would likely be Julius Randle (unless the Suns have interest in Rudy Gobert), an assortment of less expensive players, this year's No. 25 pick and/or another first, and a whole lot of players and picks going to other teams. Miami Heat: Durant to Miami is intriguing, but it's hard to see how this trade comes together. For it to work for Miami, it has to keep Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo, and they'd prefer not to give up Kel'El Ware (if I'm the Suns, I demand he is in the deal). Who else on the Heat roster would the Suns want? Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jovic and some future firsts? Maybe Duncan Robinson. Again, it's just hard to see how this all comes together, but apparently the sides are talking.

Former NBA All-Star center and lottery pick DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended from the Puerto Rican basketball league after an altercation with a fan. More NBA news: Former NBA All-Star Believes Thunder Resemble Prime Warriors Team The National Superior Basketball Association announced the following sanctions and fines for Cousins. "Guaynabo Mets player DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended for the remainder of the 2025 season and fined $4,250 for a disqualifying foul, a technical foul, and acts that incite violence or provocation. Photo byThe incident, which took place on Monday, saw Cousins confront a fan courtside. He was eventually ejected, and as he returned to the locker room, fans threw drinks at him, which led him to confront some of the fans. The 34-year-old signed with the Guaynabo Mets in late April for the 2025 season. He had played with the team in 2023 and was sensational. In that season, Cousins averaged 20.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in 25.4 minutes per game. He shot 44 percent from three and 69 percent from the charity stripe in free throws. As for this season, Cousins was great, averaging 18.2 points per game, nine rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.4 blocks in 10 games played this season. Cousins, a four-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection, spent 11 seasons in the league. Over the course of 654 regular season games, he suited up for the Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, LA Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Denver Nuggets. A former standout at Kentucky, Cousins put together a strong NBA resume, averaging 19.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game on .460/.331/.737 shooting splits. The Kings made him the No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, and early in his career, he looked like a franchise cornerstone. But injuries changed the course of his journey — most notably a torn left Achilles tendon in 2018 during his first full season with the Pelicans. That injury marked a turning point. His production declined, and he never fully regained his dominant form. From that point on, he became somewhat of a journeyman, struggling to find long-term footing with any team. At 34, Cousins could still have something left in the tank, but teams across the league have been reluctant to take a chance. Lucille Ball Found Out She Was Pregnant When Her Medical Records Were Leaked During Radio Broadcast
Lucille Ball once learned she was pregnant while listening to a radio broadcast In his new book Desi Arnaz: The Man Who Invented Television, biographer Todd S. Purdum writes that Ball was on tour with her husband Desi Arnaz in June 1950 when she was listening to the radio in between shows The broadcaster then announced her pregnancy, after being tipped off by a medical lab stafferLucille Ball once found out she was pregnant not from her doctor — but from a radio broadcaster who had been tipped off by a medical lab staffer. In his new book Desi Arnaz: The Man Who Invented Television, biographer Todd S. Purdum writes that Ball was on tour with her husband Desi Arnaz in June 1950 when she learned about her pregnancy in between shows. At the time, Ball and Arnaz were starring in a vaudeville act that required an "exhausting schedule" and "vigorous physical stunts" from Ball. Off stage, they were trying for a baby. Writes Purdum: "In June 1950, during the New York run of their vaudeville show, Lucy was relaxing in her dressing room between shows listening to Walter Winchell's radio broadcast when she heard him announce she was 'infanticipating,' the columnist's lingo for 'pregnant.' He'd been tipped off by a medical lab informant before the Arnazes themselves had learned the news." The author writes that the couple, upon learning the news, then "trimmed the planned length of the tour," though it was in vain — just weeks later, Ball, suffered a miscarriage. Purdum writes in his book that Ball had more than one miscarriage during her marriage to Arnaz, with physicians ultimately discovering they had inadvertently closed a fallopian tube while treating her for one of the miscarriages. After reversing that procedure, Ball ultimately became pregnant again in 1950, at age 39. On July 17, 1951, Ball gave birth via caesarean section, to a baby girl: Lucie. Ball would later give birth a second time, in January 1953, to what was then arguably the most famous baby in America: Desi Jr. Desi Jr.'s birth came as the couple was starring in the now-iconic sitcom I Love Lucy, which premiered in 1951 and even incorporated their second child's birth. In interviews with the author, the now-adult children explained how different their parents were. Lucie recalled how her mother "took it personally" when one of the children would disappoint her. Desi, by contrast, "was not like that," she described. "He would get really angry and blow his stack, and be loud, but then he'd be done and it would be like it never happened," Lucie said, adding that Ball, by contrast, "would get personally offended by childhood behavior or what you said, because you should have known not to say that somehow, even though no one's taught you what to say." "And she would emotionally separate from you for however long she wanted to. And it would be sometimes days, sometimes weeks," she added. While audiences were delighted by his parents' relationship, Desi Jr. told Purdum that behind the scenes, Lucy and Desi were incredibly argumentative 'It wasn't good for anyone,' Desi Jr. told the author in the book. 'And we'll always remember when they sat us down and said, 'Look, you know, things aren't working.' I mean, I remember word for word.'
