Father's Day weekend weather predicted to be hot, dry for South Florida
The NEXT Weather Team is tracking a hot and mostly dry Father's Day Weekend for South Florida as afternoon highs linger in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
Despite this being near-average, it will still feel like summer with "feels like" temperatures in the mid to upper 90s.
While isolated showers will be possible throughout the morning and early afternoon, chances are only at 20% and most will remain dry.
This trend continues for Father's Day as highs peak around 90 degrees.
If you're looking to beat the heat by heading out to the coast, there is a moderate rip current risk at the beach and no alerts out on the water.
Don't forget the sunscreen as the UV Index is "extreme" today and will most likely remain that way for at least the next several days.
Looking ahead to next week, our weather pattern remains consistent with highs around 90 and no significant rain chances over the next 7 days.

‘I Had Only Gone a Few Blocks When It Started to Drizzle'
Rain Gods Dear Diary: I was leaving my house in Forest Hills for my usual morning stroll. The darkening storm clouds made things look iffy for a walk, but I decided to chance it. Off I went without an umbrella. I had only gone a few blocks when it started to drizzle. A little farther on, a steady rain began. I picked up my pace in the direction of the tennis stadium, hoping to take cover under some nearby trees. Once I got there, I spotted a lonely umbrella on a low stone wall. I picked it up and, reflecting on my good fortune, looked to the sky. 'Thank you, rain gods,' I said. As I continued on, the rainfall got heavier. I saw a woman in business attire walking toward me. She was frantically searching her bag. I assumed she was looking for an umbrella. I approached her and waved. 'Here,' I said. 'Take my umbrella.' Father's Day weekend storm threat could douse grilling plans for millions in mid-Atlantic
As Father's Day weekend begins, much of the mid-Atlantic region is bracing for a significant weather system that could dampen any outdoor plans. The potential isolated flooding is not expected to bring the dramatic and deadly scenes that have unfolded this week in states such as Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana. However, the system will deliver heavy, intermittent rain and high humidity. The FOX Forecast Center is pinpointing the mid-Atlantic as a key area of concern, with an isolated flood threat highlighted for Virginia. 'That's really the only spot where we need to up urgency,' said FOX Weather Meteorologist Britta Merwin. She added that for many, the weekend will be inconvenient rather than a complete washout in any one location. 3 Heavy rain is expected to blanket parts of the US throughout the weekend. FOX Weather However, heavy rain is possible in any thunderstorms that do develop. Rain totals are expected to reach a widespread 1-2 inches from Pennsylvania down through Georgia, with locally higher amounts possible in stronger downpours. Dew points will be high, reaching into the 60s and 70s south of this boundary on both Saturday and Sunday. With daytime heating and highs reaching into the 80s and 90s, storm energy will build across the eastern US, supporting scattered afternoon thunderstorms. 3 The weather system could dampen Father's Day plans for millions. © 2022 A few storms may become severe, posing threats of hail and damaging wind. FOX Weather Syracuse, New York, is on track to record its 30th consecutive rainy weekend. In Burlington, Vermont, this weekend will mark 26 weekends in a row with rain. The last dry weekend there was December 14-15, 2024, according to the FOX Forecast Center. The FOX Forecast Center said the precipitation outlook keeps most of the East above average for precipitation through late June.
