Oman Air ranks second in MENA for on-time performance in 2024
Oman Air has been named the second most punctual airline in the Middle East and Africa Region for 2024, with a 90.27% on-time performance, surpassing the global winner's score of 86.70%, making it one of the top regional rankings.
It's the third consecutive year Oman Air has earned one of the top spots in the region, having scored first in 2022 and 2023.
Published in an annual report by Cirium, a leading provider of aviation analytics, the ranking upholds Oman Air's position as one of the world's most reliable airlines.
The award was presented to Captain Nasser Al Salmi, Oman Air's Chief Operating Officer, by Mahesh Jugoo, Cirium's Head of Middle East & Africa.
According to Cirium, an on-time flight is defined as one that arrives within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of its scheduled gate arrival time.

Oman Air to join Oneworld Alliance on June 30: CEO
Muscat: Oman Air will officially join the Oneworld Alliance on June 30, after completing a nearly three-year process of integrating loyalty programmes, IT systems, and bookings with partner airlines. Speaking to the Observer, Con Korfiatis expressed his excitement about the upcoming alliance, stating, "We are pleased to be joining the Oneworld alliance on June 30, which is just four weeks away. This alliance will significantly expand our network reach through partnerships with other airlines, as we cannot fly to every destination ourselves." Korfiatis also mentioned challenges in securing airport slots in India, but expressed interest in exploring opportunities beyond India. Regarding transformation within the airline, Korfiatis highlighted the goal of achieving fiscal responsibility to support future growth. The airline is ahead of target in meeting key performance indicators and aims to achieve EBIT breakeven by 2027. 'Our shareholder wants us to be fiscally responsible because they have confidence in backing us to be able to grow and do more things. We want to grow, but we didn't have the foundation for growth. It's a three to four-year journey. We do have KPIs (EBIT breakeven) which are meant to be achieved by 2027, and we are already ahead of target.' Oman Air flight to Bangkok turned around due to technical issue
Muscat: An Oman Air flight bound for Bangkok in Thailand, was turned around due to a technical glitch and landed in Muscat, the airline confirmed on Saturday. In a statement, the airline said, "Oman Air flight WY815, flying from Muscat to Bangkok on 31 May 2025, experienced a technical issue shortly after take-off and in accordance with safety and operational protocols, had to return to Muscat International Airport." The aircraft landed safely at Muscat without incident according to the airline. "Our guests were disembarked and taken back to the terminal. All guests were accommodated on a replacement flight shortly after. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. ACWA Power inks $500mln deals with top US firms at key Saudi forum
