World Tai Chi Day marked in Romania with enthusiastic participation
BUCHAREST, April 26 (Xinhua) -- An event was held on Saturday at a local park in Bucharest to mark the World Tai Chi Day, attracting more than 100 Tai Chi enthusiasts, as well as local residents and tourists.
Members from five clubs under the Romanian Wushu Kungfu Federation performed several sets of Tai Chi movements, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.
During the event, Li Fengmei from China's Capital Institute of Physical Education demonstrated Tai Chi techniques, led practice sessions, and shared practical skills with the participants.
Li praised the passion of the local participants and expressed hope for more exchanges in the future.
Noting the growing popularity of Tai Chi in Romania, Cosmin Placinta, a local Tai Chi instructor, said that more and more people are becoming interested in Tai Chi culture.
The World Tai Chi Day is observed on the last Saturday of April every year.

22 Ugandan athletes qualify for 2025 World Athletics Championship in Tokyo
KAMPALA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- A total of 22 Ugandan athletes have qualified for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, according to Dominic Otuchet, president of the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) who confirmed to Xinhua on Thursday. Joshua Cheptegei, a two-time Olympic gold medalist is among the top athletes that have qualified for the Championships that will attract world stars from September 13 to 21, 2025. Cheptegei and Jacob Kiplimo who finished second in his debut in the London Marathon last month will have to decide which race they compete in since they both qualified for the 10,000m and marathon. "Having several athletes qualify for the World Athletics Championships is always a good thing because many of our runners will have the opportunity to compete with the world's best," said Otuchet. The 25-year-old Victor Kiplangat will also be in Tokyo to defend his marathon title he won at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Kiplangat also won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Russian gymnasts to return to int'l games: sports federation
MOSCOW, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Russian gymnasts and judges will return to international competitions as neutral participants, local media reported Wednesday, citing the Russian Gymnastics Federation. The participation of Russian athletes and judges has been confirmed in a series of international gymnastics competitions, according to a statement by the federation cited by TASS news agency. The federation noted that efforts are ongoing for Russian athletes to resume full-fledged participation in international sports. In March 2022, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) suspended Russian and Belarusian gymnastics from its tournaments. Later, the international federation eased the sanctions, allowing the two countries' athletes to compete as neutrals. The Russian Gymnastics Federation said earlier in April that the country's athletes would not participate in the upcoming FIG competitions despite being granted neutral status, citing "numerous unfounded and biased refusals" to grant such status to athletes.
