Wisconsin football class of 2026 commit begins June with notable SEC official visit
Wisconsin football class of 2026 commit, defensive lineman Carmelow Reed, is taking an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend, according to Rivals' Adam Gorney.
The 6-foot-7 defensive lineman committed to the Badgers on April 7, immediately becoming the highest-rated recruit in their class of 2026. 247Sports ranks the Olympia Fields, Illinois, product as the No. 531 overall player in the class of 2026, the No. 63 defensive lineman and the No. 13 player from his home state.
Notably, Reed chose the Badgers over other offers from LSU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri and Ole Miss. He is one of several players scheduled to visit Madison the weekend of June 6. Before making that trip, he began his official visit schedule with a notable SEC trip.
As a junior with Olympia Fields, Reed logged 33 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks and a fumble recovery in eight games. As of May 30, he is Wisconsin's sole defensive line commit for the class of 2026.
That class currently ranks No. 44 in the nation with seven players committed. If Reed were to decommit and head to Ole Miss, the class' ranking would drop substantially. Furthermore, the defensive front seven is a position group of significance for Luke Fickell, as he has honed in on top targets including McHale Blade, Kobe Cherry, Djidjou Bah, Arthur Scott, and Jermaine Polk.
Wisconsin is in search of its third straight recruiting finish in the top 25, something Fickell leaned into when he assumed head coaching responsibilities in 2022. Given his team's 5-7 finish a season ago, offseason coaching changes and a new offensive system, Fickell and his staff may need to work harder to sell the program as a top destination.
As of May 30, Reed remains a Badger. His status is one to monitor in the coming weeks.

Wisconsin Recruiting Heats Up with Commitment from Bah
Wisconsin Recruiting Heats Up with Commitment from Bah originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After a slow start to building its 2026 recruiting class, the Wisconsin football program is starting to heat up. Using momentum during official visits, the Badgers are starting to add players to their class. Advertisement One of those players is defensive lineman Djidjou Bah, out of Germantown, Tennessee. The 6-3, 253-pound defensive lineman is considered a 3-star prospect according to 247Sports. Bah picked the Badgers over a handful of Power 4 teams, including Iowa, Indiana, Michigan State, Northwestern, and more. He announced his commitment to Wisconsin on social media. While Bah is listed as a defensive lineman on the recruiting site, Bah's primary recruiter from the Badgers is linebackers coach Matt Mitchell. It may not mean anything, but it could also be an indicator that the Badgers are looking to use Bah as an edge rusher rather than a defensive lineman. Advertisement The Badgers already have Carmelow Reed in the class, who is also listed as a defensive lineman, but the Badgers are looking to use him as an edge rusher. Reed's commitment to the Badgers, however, may be in question after he took a visit to Ole Miss over the weekend. Bah was scheduled to take his visit before the Reed news broke. But now, Bah's commitment is looking like solid insurance for the Badgers. With the addition of Bah, the Badgers' 2026 class now stands at 10 committed players. Stay tuned, because there are likely to be more commitments in the near future. Related: Badger Commit Flirting with Rebels? No. 10 overall seed Mississippi beats Murray State 19-8 to stay alive in Oxford Regional
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Will Furniss hit two home runs, including the first of three straight in the fourth inning by 10th-overall seed Mississippi, and the Rebels rolled a 19-8 victory over Murray State on Sunday to force a showdown at the Oxford Regional. The Rebels (43-20) eliminated Georgia Tech with an 11-9 win earlier Sunday and need another win over the Racers on Monday to advance to the super regionals. Murray State (41-14) sent Ole Miss to the loser's bracket with a 9-6 victory in Friday's opener. Advertisement Furniss hit a two-run shot on the final pitch from starter Kane Elmy to ignite an eight-run third inning that saw the Rebels erase 3-2 deficit. Furniss, Judd Utermark and Isaac Humphrey began a five-run fourth with solo shots off reliever Reese Oakley to make it 15-4. Furniss had four hit and four RBIs. Mitchell Sanford had three singles, driving in three and scoring twice. Humphrey finished a single shy of hitting for the cycle. Austin Fawley had two hits and three RBIs. His two-run homer in the second got the Rebels off and running. Dustin Mercer three hits for Murray State with two doubles and two RBIs. Mississippi is making its 26th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Rebels have played in six College World Series and won it in their most recent appearance in 2022.
