R'bore tigress likely to be shifted to Taleda range after 2nd attack
Jaipur: A sub-adult tigress, the offspring of the famed Arrowhead (T-84), allegedly killed a 40-year-old forest ranger, Devendra Chaudhary, near Ranthambore's Jogi Mahal area, according to the forest department's investigation.

This marks the second attack by the same tigress within a month, forcing the forest department to shift her from the wild to an enclosure in the Taleda range.A source said, "A proposal has been considered to tranquilise and relocate the tigress into an enclosure since she killed two humans." TOI reached out to the chief conservator of forests (CCF) and divisional forest officer (DFO) of Ranthambore National Park for comment, but they did not respond.However, sources cautioned that confining the tigress could be a flawed decision, as the enclosure lies within the natural corridor between Keola Devi Wildlife Sanctuary and Ranthambore Tiger Reserve (RTR). In the past, conflicts arose when T-104, an aggressive male tiger, was kept in the same enclosure. "Wild tigers clashed with the caged T-104, leading to aggression from both sides. Injuries occurred due to the cage's iron bars," a source said.Additionally, keeping a tiger in an enclosure within the core reserve area for an extended period is impractical, as it requires regular cleaning and maintenance. Experts suggest relocating the tigress to a biological park in Jaipur or Udaipur instead. Sources said that after a boy's death in April, RTR authorities recommended moving the subadults to a non-tourism zone inside the core area, but no action was taken.Green activist Tapeshwar Singh Bhati blamed poor wildlife management for the situation. "Since Tigress Arrowhead was unable to hunt, bait was regularly provided, attracting vehicles and humans. The cubs grew accustomed to human presence, losing their natural fear. This likely led to the subadult attacking two people," he said.Meanwhile, Rajasthan's environment minister Sanjay Sharma and Deeg-Kumher MLA Shailesh Singh visited Chaudhary's residence in Narayan Ka Kheda to meet the grieving family. During the visit, minister Sharma assured that the govt would secure a job for Chaudhary's widow in the education department instead of forest department. He consoled the family, emphasising that the state stands firmly with them in this difficult time. Sharma said, "We assure the family of our full support in all matters, including financial assistance from the state govt."

He added, 'We are going to initiate criminal proceedings against Lashkar and put him behind bars. I want to expose these false FIRs racket.' Ahead of narrating the incident, Gupta shared a CCTV footage of the driver leaving the building premises (his back facing the camera) with Bombay Times and documents that reveal his advance salary claim to Lashkar as well as the driver's speeding tickets for rash driving. I asked him to drop my car keys and leave. He left in a lift and while exiting the lift, held his hand over his stomach as if he was covering a wound, no blood stain is visible in the CCTV footage. The other footage which captures him walking away, shows how normal he seems while walking away. I am sure he went to his people, inflicted a harmless injury to himself and then went to the cops at 2 am. Why didn't he go to the cops directly? He tried to create this chain of events. When the cops came over to my office the next day to investigate, they also called him, he's walking, holding his stomach, taking the support of some other guy, and he's walking half a step at a time. His actions looked staged. The cops didn't find any kitchen knife because I don't have a kitchen in my office. You just get tea, coffee, biscuits. He needed the money badly for his house and daughter's education and on humanitarian grounds, I gave him the advance, and this is how he repays me.' Gupta concludes, 'I have given my statement to the police. The evidence that I showed you, has also been given to the police. In a nutshell, this is a false FIR, filed with an intention of extorting money. It has been systematically played out under guidance of a criminal lawyer. My lawyer is , and we are going to initiate criminal proceedings against this person. The CCTV footage of seconds after the incident clearly shows he is walking very normally, very casually and not at all like a person who has been attacked with a knife as he is claiming. Chhattisgarh: Sukma ASP Akash Rao Giripunje killed in IED blast, 2 cops injured
Akash Rao Giripunje RAIPUR: An Additional SP was killed and at least two cops severely injured in a major pressure IED blast planted by Maoists targeting security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district in Bastar on Monday morning. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akash Rao Giripunje who sustained critical injuries in the blast, succumbed soon after the incident, officials told TOI. The incident took place near Dondra village on the Konta–Errabore road earlier today. According to police sources, ASP Giripunje was on foot patrol duty as part of a pre-emptive security operation ahead of the Bharat Bandh called by CPI (Maoist) on June 10. The patrol was aimed at thwarting any potential Maoist disruption in the highly sensitive region. During the operation, a pressure-activated Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off, resulting in serious injuries to ASP Giripunje and causing harm to several other officers and security personnel accompanying him. Immediate assistance was rushed to the site, and the injured were transported to Konta Hospital for medical attention. ASP Akash Rao's condition was reported to be extremely critical and fragile, prompting swift efforts to airlift and shift him to a higher medical facility for advanced treatment. But he couldn't be saved, an officer confirmed to TOO. Other injured personnel are currently stated to be out of immediate danger, officials said. This incident comes at a time when security forces are on high alert across the Bastar region. Caught red-handed: IAS officer Dhiman Chakma held for taking Rs 10 lakh bribe; Rs 47 lakh recovered from official residence during raids
BHUBANESWAR: Odisha vigilance arrested Dhiman Chakma (36), a 2021 batch IAS officer, on Sunday for allegedly receiving Rs 10 lakh bribe from a businessman in Kalahandi district. 'The IAS officer Dhiman Chakma, currently serving as sub-collector, Dharamgarh in Kalahandi, was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 10 lakh bribe in his govt quarter at Dharamgarh. We laid a trap after receiving a complaint from the businessman,' director (vigilance) Yeshwant Jethwa told TOI. The vigilance statement revealed that Chakma, a resident of Tripura, had kept currency notes of various denominations in the table drawer at his residence. 'Further Rs 47 lakh cash was recovered during searches at his official residence. Our personnel are still conducting searches. Our investigation is in progress,' Jethwa said. Sources indicated that the businessman, who operates stone crusher units in areas under Chakma's jurisdiction, filed a vigilance complaint on Saturday after the officer allegedly sought Rs 20 lakh as bribe.
