Emma Raducanu paired with Carlos Alcaraz for new-look US Open mixed doubles
Emma Raducanu is set to play with Carlos Alcaraz in a star-studded mixed doubles event at the US Open this summer.
Traditionally played in the latter stages of grand slams, US Open organisers announced earlier this year they would hold the mixed doubles tournament over two days in the week before the main tournament in an attempt to attract more high-profile players.

The response was largely negative but the announcement of the first 16 pairs to have entered appears to have justified the move.
Raducanu will hope it is more successful than her first mixed doubles attempt at a grand slam last summer with Andy Murray at Wimbledon, where she pulled out ahead of their opening match because of concern over her wrist, denying her partner what would have been a final appearance at the All England Club.
It became one of the biggest stories of the tournament, with Raducanu receiving heavy criticism and later apologising to Murray.
As well as Alcaraz and Raducanu, British number one Jack Draper has entered with Olympic goal medallist Zheng Qinwen while men's world number one Jannik Sinner will play with American Emma Navarro.

Other pairs include women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka and Grigor Dimitrov, Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios, Novak Djokovic and fellow Serbian Olga Danilovic and off-court partners Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The event will take place on August 19th and 20th, with the winners scooping a prize pot of $1 million (€865,000)
Not all the pairs announced on Tuesday might make the cut, with entries open until July 28th.
The top eight teams with the best combined singles ranking – which currently would not include Raducanu and Alcaraz – will qualify directly, with eight further teams given wild card spots.

They say, 'We cannot accept what is going on' and make the step up.' Guardiola addressed Jack Grealish's omission from the 27-man squad taken to the United States. Grealish is set to leave the club this summer, with Napoli among those monitoring his situation, and Guardiola reiterated his comments on the final day of the season when maintaining that the 29-year-old needs regular game time. Giants' Rafael Devers: 'I am here to play wherever they want me to play'
June 17 - During his introductory news conference with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, Rafael Devers declared something in Spanish that the Boston Red Sox wished they could have heard from one of the game's elite hitters. "They're the men in charge," Devers' translator said two days after being acquired from the Red Sox. "I am here to play wherever they want me to play." According to Giants manager Bob Melvin, this means the 28-year-old Devers will soon start taking grounders so he can split time between designated hitter and first base. The ninth-year standout has yet to play first base in the big leagues. "We talked a little bit today," Melvin said. "And like he said, he goes, 'I'll play wherever you want me to play. I'll hit wherever you want me to hit.' "We're going to work him in and get him some ground balls at first and make sure he's comfortable before we put him over there. Phillies sit Nick Castellanos for ‘inappropriate comment' to manager
June 17 - Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters before Tuesday's game at the Miami Marlins that Nick Castellanos was benched after making an "inappropriate" comment to Thomson. In the eighth inning of a 5-2 series-opening win Monday, Thomson removed Castellanos from the outfield in favor of Johan Rojas as a defensive replacement. That's what prompted Castellanos to say something to Thomson that the manager deemed out of order. "I understand the decision," Castellanos said Tuesday, per The Athletic. "It was when I got taken out. I wasn't happy about it. I spoke my mind. (Thomson) said that I crossed a line, so my punishment is that I'm not playing." Max Kepler will start in Castellanos' usual spot in right field while batting cleanup for the Phillies on Tuesday. The decision ends Castellanos' streak of 236 straight games started, which was the second-longest active streak in the major leagues behind Matt Olson of the Atlanta Braves. Olson is in the lineup for the 686th straight game Tuesday.
