Law enforcement is meticulously scrutinising what they termed as "horrific" dashcam recordings from the MPV assumed to have been involved in Monday's episode in the city centre, reports the Liverpool Echo.
A mechanic who last year worked on a dark grey Ford Galaxy owned by the family has corroborated that it is indeed the same vehicle implicated in the incident.

Following the arrest late on Monday evening, police presence was noted outside the family's four-bedroom house. A local resident remarked:.
"He was very thoughtful, and would look out for older residents in the street. I really struggle to believe how he could be the [arrested man]. He's the last person on this street I would have thought would be connected to something like that.

"I feel awfully sorry for the people who were hurt during the parade. But I feel very sorry for his family as well, who always struck me as nice, decent people."

One neighbour reminisced about a time when the suspect had come to their aid in the wee hours to assist with a malfunctioning alarm system.

A past resident from the same street shared: "I briefly chatted to him six months ago. He seemed fairly normal, and as people go quite down to earth and a normal, well balanced guy."
He continued: "He was quite proud of his oldest child, and he was telling me how well they were doing. I got the sense he's proud of his family."
Another previous neighbour described the suspect's family as "very nice, very friendly", mentioning their kindness towards her elderly mother.

Authorities have clarified that the crash is not being considered an act of terrorism.
Merseyside Police are currently sifting through CCTV footage from the vicinity as part of their ongoing investigation. It's also been reported that dashcam video from the suspect's car is under scrutiny and could potentially serve as evidence should the matter proceed to court.

Powys actor Tom Cullen to star as BBC hit the Gold returns

Powys actor Tom Cullen will be appearing on our screens this weekend as the BBC's hit show the Gold returns. Tom, who grew up in Llandrindod Wells, will reprise his role John Palmer in the factual drama series which is inspired by the true story of the 1983 Brink's-Mat robbery and the decades-long chain of events that followed. The Gold is the creation of highly acclaimed writer Neil Forsyth the creative force behind 'Bob Servant Independent' and 'Guilt'. The first series was a huge critical success with the Hugo Rifkind of The Times calling it "tremendous – I'm not sure there's been a drama like it in years' while the Evening Standard called it "a truly smart British crime drama with a classic feel and a knockout cast". The first series saw Cullen's Palmer work with Kenneth Noye, played by Jack Lowden, to melt down the stolen gold and launder it in the open market. According to Cullen, viewers can expect a big change in Palmer in the much anticipated second series. In an interview with the BBC ahead of the new series Cullen said: 'There's quite a large leap in terms of John Palmer from series one to series two. 'The themes of the show are a continuation of series one, in that it's about class, it's about money, it's about greed. It's about how money can be like an infection, and it can change the very makeup of a person. 'I also think it is about consequences. What happens if you push beyond your limits?' 'This series follows the second half of the Brink's-Mat gold and it's also a story of the consequences faced by several of our key characters across the entire show. 'I always saw The Gold as a two series show, following the two halves of the gold, so this will be the final series.'

‘TikTok addicted' mum-of-two, 29, who stole £300k from her firm to spend on ‘tokens' for favourite creators is jailed

Dozens of her colleagues faced redundancy due to her thieving RABBIT HOLE 'TikTok addicted' mum-of-two, 29, who stole £300k from her firm to spend on 'tokens' for favourite creators is jailed Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A SOCIAL media "addicted" mum who stole £300,000 from her employer to blow on TikTok "tokens" has been jailed. Katherine Greenall was in tears in the dock yesterday as she was told she'd be locked up for pinching the vast sum from a car company where she worked as an accounts manager. 3 Katherine Greenall, 29, spent a whopping £300,000 on TikTok tokens Credit: Merseyside Police 3 TikTok tokens can be bought for real money and used to send creators virtual gifts Credit: Getty 3 Greenall was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday Credit: PA:Press Association The mum-of-two, 29, spent the vast majority of the cash on TikTok tokens, which users can gift to their favourite creators. However, the court also heard Greenall also treated herself to holidays, hotel stays and Amazon purchases during her year-long "voyage of fraud and misadventure", reports the Manchester Evening News. The thief claimed she now has only a few hundred pounds left in her bank account. Liverpool Crown Court heard on Friday afternoon, Greenall began working for St Helens-based New Reg Ltd, a technology firm which specialises in purchasing vehicles for clients, in a lesser role in April 2021. The mum, of the town's Gloucester Street, was promoted in December 2022, giving her access to business bank accounts. Prosecutor Christopher Taylor was considered "vital" to the growing firm and described as "both trusted and respected" before it was found she was siphoning off the funds into her own accounts. Analysis of Greenall's bank statements showed during 2023 she received 53 unauthorised deposits totalling £57,036 from her employer. During this period, she also began increasing her spending at supermarkets, as well as other food outlets, sports retailers and Amazon Prime. The court heard she also used the funds to pay for a family solicitor. Her spree ramped up in the early months of the following year, boosting her bank balance by another £196,364.26 by April 2024. Such large sums going missing raised suspicions amongst Greenall's superiors and were put to the defendant in a meeting with the company director on May 1. She pledged to investigate before making a "final deposit" of £20,000 immediately after and then left the office claiming there was an illness in her family. Greenall would later admit criminality during a meeting six days later and she was arrested on May 13. She told detectives she had been "living a lavish lifestyle" and had only £700 in her bank account. The mum said initially she'd been using the stolen money to pay for household purchases before she began funding her TikTok "obsession". Tokens on the platform can be bought with real money and exchanged for virtual gifts that users can send to creators during live streams, which can then be exchanged back to real cash. Greenall said the crime spree came "at a time when she was low", the court heard. Overall, she pinched £443,523.26 out of the company over 121 separate transactions, and spent £301,162.55 on TikTok tokens. Her actions jeopardised the future of the firm and placed over 30 former colleagues at risk of redundancy. Paul Becker, defending, told the court that his client "may have been suffering from a form of addiction to TikTok", but stated that she had "no formal diagnosis to such an addiction". Greenall's two children, an 11-year-old boy with severe ADHD, and a six-year-old girl, are anticipated to be looked after by their mum's sister. The defendant admitted one count of fraud by abuse of position and was jailed for 28 months. One of her supporters told her "I love you" from the public gallery as Greenall was led away. Judge Neil Flewitt KC said: "It is a tragedy that those children are going to suffer as a result of your dishonesty. "I have taken the view that there is simply no way to avoid what I am sure you have been advised is the inevitable sentence of imprisonment. "This is simply too much money and too much damage caused here." Do you know more? Email

Notorious Cardiff-born killer's basic life in prison with 'minimum legal entitlements'

Notorious Cardiff-born killer's basic life in prison with 'minimum legal entitlements' Southport killer Axel Rudakubana is serving 52 years behind bars and is being held at HMP Belmarsh Axel Rudakubana is serving a lengthy jail term after carrying out one of the most heinous crimes in modern memory (Image: Merseyside Police ) Southport killer Axel Rudakubana receives the basic minimum legal requirements while serving his jail term in a Category A prison. That means the 18-year-old is permitted to purchase items from the HMP Belmarsh canteen, using money either earnt at the prison or sent to him by family members, but spends limited time outside of his cell and is brought items to where he is staying, the Liverpool Echo has learned. The Cardiff-born teenager, currently serving his 52-year term at the London jail alongside around 700 other inmates, killed three children in Southport on July 29 last year when he walked into a Taylor Swift-themed workshop shortly before midday. The then-17-year-old stabbed 11 children, killing three girls and injuring the rest, as well as attacking two adults in the rampage. Following his arrest at the scene, ricin was found in his bedroom at his family home in Banks, Lancashire, as well as a plethora of weapons and a second identical knife to that he used in the attack wrapped in his duvet. It further transpired how the murderer had previously been reported to Prevent on three occasions as well as being stopped by his own dad from getting in a taxi destined for Range High School just seven days prior to the attack on Hart Street, Southport. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in January this year with him being kept in HMP Belmarsh, which is a high-security Category A facility. This article explains why despite the severity of his crimes he was not eligible for a whole-life jail term. But since being locked up the killer has allegedly attacked a prison officer, hospitalising him and forcing him to take time off work. Article continues below Rudakabana was in his prison cell at the time of the incident and allegedly used boiling water from a kettle in the room, as reported by Sky News. He then allegedly threw the boiling water over the officer through a hatch in his cell door. The prison officer was taken to hospital as a precaution but only suffered minor injuries. Since then Rudakubana has been given the legal minimum entitlements a prisoner can have, which restricts the amount of time he spends outside his cell and what he has access to. It is understood the legal minimum means he can still purchase items from the canteen using money either earnt at the prison or sent to him by family members but spends limited time outside of his cell and is brought items to where he is staying. National chair of the Prison Officers Association, Mark Fairhurst, said: "It is normal for every prisoner to have access to prison canteen items that they may purchase from private cash or prison earnings. "Restricting this would probably lead to a legal challenge under the Human Rights Act so the service would not be able to remove these privileges from prisoners." ‌A Met Police spokesman said: "The Met is investigating after a prison officer was subject to a serious assault at HMP Belmarsh on the afternoon of Thursday, May 8. Article continues below "The prison officer was taken to hospital where he was assessed before being discharged later the same day. "The investigation is being led by officers from the Prison Investigation Team on the Met's South East Command Unit."
