Shaimaa El-Badawy: Regular Sustainability Reporting Enhances Organizational Credibility and Builds Stakeholder Trust
Dr. Shaimaa El-Badawy, sustainability expert and host of the Green Light Podcast, emphasized that adopting sustainability principles is no longer a luxury but a strategic necessity. She stated that sustainability plays a vital role in enhancing a company's public image, building a long-lasting reputation, and fostering greater trust among customers and stakeholders.
Her remarks came during a workshop organized by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Manufacturing at Misr University for Science and Technology, as part of the training program titled 'Towards Green Innovation for the Pharmacists of the Future.' El-Badawy highlighted the central role that environmental media plays in supporting sustainability programs and initiatives.
The Role of Media in Supporting Corporate Sustainability
El-Badawy explained that media coverage of environmental and social initiatives reflects an organization's commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Publishing transparent, periodic reports on sustainability practices, she added, enhances institutional credibility in the eyes of stakeholders.
She also noted that organizations investing in green innovation—such as renewable energy and sustainable agriculture—position themselves as leaders in sustainable development. This gives them a competitive edge and strengthens their brand image in the market.
Sustainability as a Pillar of Social Responsibility
El-Badawy pointed out that sharing environmental success stories and engaging in community activities help reinforce the perception of an organization as a socially and environmentally responsible entity. This, in turn, boosts customer loyalty and attracts environmentally conscious consumers.
She further stressed the importance of organizations responding effectively to natural disasters and environmental crises by implementing emergency sustainability plans—demonstrating their capacity for social responsibility and crisis resilience.
In conclusion, El-Badawy called on media outlets to focus on the broader social and economic impact of sustainability initiatives, including the creation of green jobs, improved public health, and contributions to the green economy transition.
The workshop also featured sessions on green human resources management strategies by Dr. Mahmoud Fawzy, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Mass Communication, and strategic planning for green entrepreneurship led by marketing expert Islam Waheed.
At the end of the event, the faculty honored the speakers for their contributions to promoting awareness of sustainability and green innovation. Special recognition was also given to Dr. Amani Omar El-Husseiny, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, and Dr. Nehad El-Didamony, Executive Director of the workshop, for their efforts in making the event a success.

Egypt's El-Dabaa Nuclear Project Reaches Milestone with Incoming Turbine Generator
Egypt's Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has confirmed that the El-Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will receive the turbine generator for its first reactor unit before the end of 2025 — marking a major milestone in the country's flagship energy project. Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat, recently visited the facilities of Arabell Solutions and Framatome in Belfort, France, to inspect progress on the manufacturing of key components for the El-Dabaa reactors. The visit focused on reviewing the production status of power-generating turbines and evaluating the readiness of critical electrical systems, including generator assemblies and turbine parts. During the visit, the minister also examined the latest developments in the technical testing of the turbine generator for Unit 1. According to a statement issued by the ministry on Tuesday, Esmat was briefed by senior representatives from the two French companies regarding the readiness and performance of the plant's core electrical infrastructure. The ministry emphasized that the incoming turbine will be the largest of its kind ever installed in Egypt — and across the African continent — underscoring the scale and significance of the El-Dabaa project within the region's energy landscape.

Public Enterprises Ministry launches overhaul plan to modernize affiliated companies: El-Shimy
Minister of Public Enterprises Sector Mohamed El-Shimy has announced the implementation of a comprehensive modernization plan for companies affiliated with the ministry. The plan centers on digital transformation, technology localization, and advancing Egypt's industrial self-reliance by integrating smart manufacturing solutions and forging practical partnerships. El-Shimy made the announcement during a workshop on spare parts manufacturing using 3D printing and digital machining, held at the Digital Manufacturing Centre (DMC) inside the Engine Factory of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) in Helwan. The event was attended by AOI Chairperson Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sayed Ismail, and representatives from Immensa, a company specialized in digital spare parts manufacturing using advanced 3D printing technologies. During the workshop, both El-Shimy and Abdel Latif emphasized the need to fully leverage national manufacturing capabilities and strengthen cooperation in the production of industrial spare parts through advanced technologies. These efforts are aligned with Egypt's Vision 2030 for sustainable development and industrial modernization. El-Shimy underscored the urgency of greater collaboration and integration across national industrial institutions. He stressed that adopting modern technologies—such as 3D printing—is now essential for enhancing Egypt's manufacturing competitiveness, reducing import dependency, and creating high-value employment opportunities. He also praised AOI's longstanding national role in supporting the state's strategy for modernization, renewal, and technology localization. El-Shimy described the workshop as a tangible step toward deepening industrial integration among government entities and promoting private sector cooperation in Egypt's digital transformation journey. AOI Chairperson Mokhtar Abdel Latif echoed these sentiments, highlighting that AOI had recognized the value of these emerging technologies early on and took proactive steps by establishing the DMC. The center is equipped with advanced global technologies and highly trained technical staff, aligning with Fourth Industrial Revolution standards. The DMC has successfully localized manufacturing technologies for pumps of various types and applications and is capable of meeting a wide range of industrial demands at globally competitive quality levels, Abdel Latif added. He affirmed AOI's readiness to enhance cooperation with both public and private sector entities, in coordination with academic and research institutions. The goal is to maximize the use of advanced capabilities at the DMC and across all AOI factories to address national industrial needs. A comprehensive inventory of spare part requirements is currently being compiled, with manufacturing plans already underway. Abdel Latif reaffirmed that AOI has all the capabilities needed to meet these demands using advanced manufacturing techniques, in line with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's directives to raise the share of local manufacturing, localize strategic technologies, reduce imports, and promote the 'Made in Egypt' initiative. He explained that 3D printing and digital machining technologies enable on-demand, high-precision production of complex or obsolete spare parts that are often unavailable in the market. The technology has already proven effective across a wide range of sectors, including automotive, aerospace, industrial equipment, and medical devices.
