Munich
Harry Kane and the rest of the Bayern Munich team celebrated the Bundesliga title in a Munich restaurant on Sunday after failing to wrap up matters the previous day on the pitch.
Kane posted a video on X showing him and others delivering a wild rendition of Queen's 'We are the Champions' shortly after the title was confirmed when rivals Bayer Leverkusen were held 2-2 at Freiburg.
The video showed coach Vincent Kompany and midfielder Joshua Kimmich enjoying a glass of wine while defender Eric Dier preferred a beer.
It is was most special for Kane who finally claims a trophy at long last after losing three finals with his previous club Tottenham Hotspur and two lost Euro finals with England.
Kane had posted a trophy emoji on X right after the final whistle in Freiburg, while Bayern said on the same platform: 'Back where we belong.'
The team had gathered at the restaurant to watch the Leverkusen game together and the delight was clearly visible in Kane's video.
Bayern could have wrapped up the title on Saturday but had to swallow a last-gasp 3-3 equalizer at RB Leipzig.
They would have then preferred to clinch a 34th title next Saturday on the pitch against Borussia Mönchengladbach, but Leverkusen's latest stumble delivered the trophy on Sunday.
Coach Vincent Kompany said in a statement after delivering in his first season: 'Now it is the time to enjoy that we have won the Bundesliga - what an unbelievable feeling.
'Congratulations to the players for their outstanding performance across the whole season: You did it together, you won it as a team.'
Kompany thanked the backroom staff and fans and urged that 'we must continue to push. The season isn't over, we can look forward to a lot. let us complete it in strong fashion.'
The German Football League confirmed that Bayern will receive the trophy after the Gladbach match in their home stadium, and not after the final match in Hoffenheim a week later.
'We would like to congratulate FC Bayern München on winning the Bundesliga title,' DFL CEOs Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel said in a statement.
'The 34th title win in the club's history underlines the outstanding work of the club - both on and off the pitch.'

Brentford agree potential £18 mn deal for Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher
LondoncTypeface:> Brentford have agreed a deal with Liverpool to sign Caoimhín Kelleher for a deal worth up to £18 million ($24.24 million), the PA news agency understands. A reported initial fee of £12.5m for the second-choice Liverpool goalkeeper can rise to £18m if performance-related requirements are met. Ireland's Kelleher, who has a year left on his contract at Anfield, played over a quarter of the champions' Premier League matches this season when first-choice Alisson Becker was injured. His move away from the Merseyside club has been heavily reported, with Giorgi Mamardashvili joining the club in July after Liverpool confirmed the signature of the Valencia keeper last summer. Kelleher's switch to west London comes with 31-year-old Bees keeper Mark Flekken set to join Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. The transfer is the first of what is set to be a busy window at Gtech Community Stadium, with 20-goal winger Bryan Mbuemo expected to leave the club. (PA Media/dpa)

Carnival atmosphere in Paris after Champions League success
PAMedia/DPA London Thousands of fans lined the Champs-Élysées on Sunday as Paris St Germain celebrated their Champions League triumph. PSG brought the trophy back to Paris for the first time after thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in Munich on Saturday night - the record margin of victory in a Champions League final. The number of fans on the Champs-Élysées was limited to 100,000 after violence marred PSG's stunning victory. Two people died and the French interior ministry reported 559 arrests were made across France during the celebrations. But there was a carnival atmosphere in Paris as fans waved flags, lit flares and belted out the Queen anthem 'We Are The Champions.' An open top double-decker bus in the PSG colours of blue, red and white, with the words 'Champions D'Europe' written on it, made its way slowly down the Champs-Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe. PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi, chairman of club owners Qatar Sports Investments, and head coach Luis Enrique - who won the Champions League in 2015 with Barcelona and became the seventh manager to lift the trophy with two different clubs - led the celebrations. The trophy was passed down the bus to every player, who were proudly wearing their winner's medals. Defender Presnel Kimpembe grabbed the microphone to sing 'Ici c'est Paris!' (This is Paris) and captain Marquinhos urged FIFA to reward Ousmane Dembele by saying 'Ousmane, Ballon d'Or.' France forward Dembele scored eight goals in PSG's European campaign and was named by UEFA as the best player in this season's Champions League. After the parade, the players and staff were received at the Élysée Palace by French President Emmanuel Macron. The celebrations concluded at the Parc des Princes on Sunday evening with a trophy presentation in front of the club's season ticket holders.

Bundesliga club Werder Bremen sign Horst Steffen as new coach
Berlin: Werder Bremen have signed Horst Steffen as their new coach, the Bundesliga club said in a statement on Thursday. Steffen will replace Ole Werner, who parted ways with Bremen after opting not to sign a new deal amid frictions with the board. 'Horst's expertise and personality impressed us during our conversations. He's done some incredible work at Elversberg over the last seven years. Horst plays an attacking and attractive brand of football and leads a team extremely well,' managing director of professional football Clemens Fritz said. This season, Steffen guided tiny Elversberg to third in the second tier with a vibrant brand of attacking football. They narrowly missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga when they conceded in stoppage time in the play-off with Heidenheim on Monday. 'The fact that Werder got in touch with me was first of all recognition for myself and my work,' Steffen said. Bremen finished eighth in the Bundesliga season just finished. Details of the contract were not disclosed, but according to media reports, the coach signed a deal until 2028 and Elversberg are to receive compensation between 300,000 euros ($340,590) and 350,000 euros.
