Leinster labour to quarter-final win over Scarlets
Leinster will host defending champions Glasgow Warriors next weekend after beating Scarlets 33-21 in the quarter-final of the BKT United Rugby Championship quarter-final at Aviva Stadium.
Leo Cullen's side led 15-14 at the break thanks to tries from James Lowe and Hugo Keenan but they conceded two in a strange first half during which some familiar failings were on show again.
However, their bench made a big difference and they outscored the Welsh side 18 points to seven in the second half with Jamie Osborne and player of the match Hugo Keenan crossing for tries.
Out-half Sam Prendergast scored three penalties and two conversions, while the visitors had forwards Alec Hepburn and Vaea Fifita sin-binned in the second half.

That sticks out to me as a massive moment growing up. I was not long playing rugby at school and was starting to take a real interest in it. That game made such an impact and was an eye-opener for me as a kid. It gave me a real itch to play the game. There was such a huge build-up with the match being played at Croke Park and England coming over. The anthems, ahead of the game, will always stay with me. There was respect for the English anthem, then this unbelievable noise for the Irish anthems. You could see how much it meant to the players there. Some were singing while others were crying. Some were doing both. Real goose bumps stuff. It showed you how much it meant to everyone. You just had this feeling that it was going to be a special game. Crazy atmosphere.

New Ulster signing Juarno Augustus called up to South Africa pre-season squad
New Ulster signing Juarno Augustus is one of nine uncapped players named in an extensive 54-man South African squad for the first four of the Springboks' 14 international matches this year. The 27-year-old number eight moves to Belfast from Northampton Saints, although his arrival may be delayed by international commitments if he makes the final squad. Coach Rassie Erasmus retains 31 of the squad that won the 2023 World Cup – including Leinster's RG Snyman and Munster's Jean Kleyn – in a sign of continuity but has also made clear he intended using Tests against the Barbarians, Italy and Georgia to try out new prospects. Scarlets hooker Marnus van der Merweis is another of the uncapped players called up, along with props Neethling Fouche and Asenathi Ntlabakanye, flankers Renzo du Plessis and Vincent Tshituka and utility forward Cobus Wiese, whose brother Jasper is a regular in the squad. The squad assembled on Sunday except for players still involved in the closing stages of the United Rugby Championship or English Premiership.
