Station Ghanpur will undergo major transformation, promises Kadiyam
Hanumakonda: Former Deputy Chief Minister and local MLA Kadiyam Srihari stated that he would transform the Station Ghanpur constituency with all modern amenities so that the people could hold their heads high with pride.
On Monday, the MLA reviewed the ongoing construction of the Banjara Bhavan and the 100-bed hospital at the Station Ghanpur constituency centre and unveiled the foundation stone plaques.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA criticised his opponents, saying, 'Forget 800 crores, they can't even get 8 paise sanctioned. At least now, after seeing the construction of the 100-bed hospital and the Divisional Office Complex, they should come to their senses.'
He revealed that Rs 77 crores have been allocated for the construction of proper roads to all tribal hamlets in the constituency, and BT roads have already been laid for about 38 km across 20 hamlets. He also stated that he secured Rs 2 crores for the construction of the Banjara Bhavan to serve the 17,000-strong tribal population in the constituency.
In addition, Rs 1.60 lakh was sanctioned for newly formed Gram Panchayats and eight tribal hamlets. The ST hostel building, constructed with Rs 63 lakhs, has also been completed and will be inaugurated soon. The MLA instructed officials to prepare proposals for levelling the area and building a dining hall at Banjara Bhavan.
He reiterated his commitment to the overall development of tribal hamlets. Srihari stated that Station Ghanpur is about to undergo a complete transformation. He mentioned that a proposal of Rs 70 crores is being prepared for the development of the municipality and that he will ensure the necessary approvals to begin work soon.
'No matter how many baseless allegations are made, I will not back down,' he declared firmly. 'My sole aim is the development of the constituency, and I promise to deliver progress that will make the people of this constituency proud,' he said.

SIT finds liquor scam links to 2024 MP candidates
Tirupati: The ongoing investigation into the sensational liquor scam in the State has taken a significant political turn, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) reportedly uncovering fresh links involving candidates who contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It was learnt that the SIT has found evidence suggesting that liquor money was allegedly routed to certain MP candidates during the general elections. The funds were reportedly funnelled by the prime accused, Raj Kasireddy, through his driver, and delivered to political candidates via their own drivers or gunmen. In a bid to dig deeper into these alleged connections, a SIT team recently camped in Tirupati for two days. During their stay, officials questioned several individuals and reportedly gathered crucial evidence to support the emerging claims. The probe is now intensifying, focusing on the origin of the funds used for distributing cash and other inducements to voters during the elections. Investigators are said to be tracing both the source and the flow of this money. In the midst of these developments, former Chandragiri MLA and YSR Congress Party's Ongole MP candidate in the last elections, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, has publicly claimed that attempts werre being made to implicate him in the case. Speaking to the media on Thursday and Friday, Chevireddy maintained his innocence and declared he was ready to cooperate with any investigation. He alleged that the SIT had coerced a former Armed Reserve constable named Giri, who once served as his gunman, into making a false statement against him. 'When I served as government whip, constable Giri worked with me. The SIT summoned him and interrogated him for five days. They pressured him to falsely claim that I moved funds ranging from Rs 250 crore to Rs `500 crore. If they want to arrest me, there's no need for battalions. I'll surrender voluntarily if called. The truth will come out in court,' Chevireddy stated. He further alleged that his associate, Venkateswar Naidu, was also being subjected to harsh interrogation by the SIT in an attempt to extract a statement implicating him. Chevireddy urged investigators to question him directly rather than harassing those associated with him. He also reiterated his long-standing opposition to liquor, citing personal loss due to alcohol. 'I lost both my father and brother to alcohol. I have no association with liquor and I never will,' he asserted. As the SIT's probe deepens, more names from the political and administrative spheres are expected to emerge. With multiple layers being peeled back, the scandal is fast becoming one of the most politically charged controversies in the State's recent history.

Reforms aim to give big boost to mineral sector: Kishan
Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the National Critical Minerals Mission Outreach Forum (NCMMOF) at the Critical Minerals Processing Seminar at India Habitat Center in the national capital on Friday. During his speech at the inauguration of the forum, he mentioned that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, several reforms have been introduced to enhance the mineral sector performance in the country. These reforms have facilitated the transparent auctioning of mineral blocks and, in turn, increased accountability. The auction process for 34 blocks has already been successfully completed. 'We are taking further steps to auction additional critical minerals. In the past three years, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) has conducted a total of 445 exploration projects focused on critical mineral extraction. Funds have been allocated for 185 projects through the National Mineral Exploration Trust. We have signed bilateral agreements with countries such as Australia, Argentina, and Chile to facilitate the extraction of minerals from abroad,' he added. Kishan Reddy said the central government company Kabil has already begun extracting minerals from 15,000 hectares of land in Catamarca province, Argentina. In January of this year, the Union Cabinet approved the National Critical Minerals Mission with an outlay of Rs 16,300 crore. Additionally, central government companies will invest an extra Rs 18,000 crore for this mission. We are focusing on the extraction of critical minerals like lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements, which are in high demand for promoting clean energy in the country. The union minister said that by 2040, the demand for critical minerals is expected to increase by four to six times. Currently, India imports 100 per cent of these critical minerals from abroad. The mining sector is continuously striving for self-reliance in the critical minerals sector. India has now surpassed Japan to become the world's fourth-largest economy this financial year. In this context, the sector is advancing towards meeting the energy needs required to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. The National Critical Minerals Mission plays a crucial role in ensuring the country's power security. The central government has decided in this year's budget to eliminate the import duty on 12 critical minerals, including cobalt powder, lithium-ion battery scrap, and lead and zinc. Collaboration among government, private sector, public sector, and academia is crucial to strengthen the critical minerals processing industry. The National Critical Minerals Mission Outreach Forum, which launched today, aims to unite various industries within this sector. This forum will provide an opportunity to raise awareness about the critical minerals industry and its impact on power and food security in the country. He urged industry representatives to invest in the critical minerals processing sector, as their involvement will help strengthen the mining sector in India. Companies such as Coal India Limited, Hindustan Copper Limited, and Singareni need to acquire blocks both domestically and internationally to commence mining operations.

No BAS and RTE admissions in our schools: Private managements
Hyderabad: Are growing financial concerns pushing the education sector in the state into chaos? The situation indicates that the State government is facing scrutiny from the State High Court for failing to implement the 25 per cent reservation for underprivileged students in private schools, as mandated by Section 121 (C) of the Right to Education Act 2009. Meanwhile, private school management has expressed their inability to bear the financial burden that comes with implementing this scheme. In an interview with The Hans India, Yadagiri Sheshagiri Rao, honorary president of the Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA) and state secretary of Best Available Schools (BAS), stated that there are currently about 25,000 seats that schools must allocate to students from SC and ST categories under the BAS Scheme. However, approximately Rs 200 crore in dues have been pending for the past three years. Additionally, if the state government plans to implement the Right to Education (RTE) Act, schools may need to create around 75,000 more seats to comply with the new requirements. Under the RTE Act, the government is required to either pay the outstanding amounts for each student or cover the fees charged by private schools. For instance, if a school charges Rs 2 lakh per year in fees, the government would reimburse only about Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh for each admission under the RTE Act. This means the school would have to forgo between Rs 50,000 to Rs 90,000 for each student. Conversely, schools that charge only Rs 50,000 per student per year would receive the full amount from the government, rather than the lesser amount they spend on students in government schools. The state secretary of the private school association stated that the total seat capacity that private schools are required to offer the government under both the BAS and RTE Acts is around one lakh seats. However, the state government has yet to address the Rs 200 crore in BAS dues from the past three years. Additionally, it reportedly owes about Rs 600 crore for the rentals of residential schools currently operating. Private unaided colleges have also been agitating for the recovery of approximately Rs 7,500 crore in fee reimbursement dues accumulated over the past few years. This situation has led school management to fear and express their inability to continue admitting students under either the BAS or RTE programs. 'Many schools are facing closure due to mounting debts resulting from the government's non-payment of dues. Small, budget schools in local neighborhoods are particularly affected. They can no longer stretch their finances or raise loans to keep operating,' added Sheshagiri Rao. There are approximately 200 BAS schools in the state that have decided not to admit students until their pending dues are cleared. If necessary, they may close their doors and hand over the keys to the school education department to manage the schools themselves. When asked about the current situation, sources in the State School Education Department indicated that the state government is considering starting international schools in every mandal to provide quality education for all. However, this raises a valid concern: the state government is currently struggling to clear about Rs 8,000 crore in dues for both schools and colleges. Given this financial burden, how many years will it take to build and operate these international schools to ensure quality education for everyone remains a million-dollar question.
