Former Indian cricketers offered advice to the Shubman Gill-led Indian cricket team for their upcoming five-Test series in England, with Michael Vaughan suggesting this tour could mark "something special" for the visitors.
The guidance comes as India undergoes a transition phase following the retirements of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin, while Mohammed Shami was not selected for the touring squad.
Cheteshwar Pujara
emphasized the importance of adapting to English conditions for success.
"India's team to England must adapt quickly and play (according) to the conditions. As someone who understands batting in English conditions and team dynamics, I believe discipline, patience and support for each other are crucial.
Every player will need to contribute and respect the challenges that lay ahead. I am sure this tour will be a great opportunity for the growth and success of each player and the team as a whole," Pujara told Sony Sports, the official broadcaster.

Former left-arm pacer

, former India all-rounder, stressed the importance of quick adaptation for the team's success.
"India's new squad faces a tough challenge in England, but as an all-rounder, I know adaptability is key. Gill's leadership, Pant's energy, and India's young talent must step up. England's conditions test every skill — swing, seam, and temperament. If India's players adapt quickly and stay united, they can surprise England, just as we've seen in the past with new teams rising to the occasion."

Michael Vaughan, former England captain, spoke about India's decision to appoint 25-year-old Gill as Test captain.
"Well, it's official —
Shubman Gill
is the new face of Indian Test cricket, stepping up as captain for the England series. It's a bold move, trusting a young leader with a new-look team after the retirements of giants like Rohit and Kohli. Gill has got plenty to prove, especially away from home, but he has shown (that) he has got the temperament for big moments. With
Rishabh Pant
as his deputy and a squad hungry to make their mark, this England tour could be the start of something special for India's next generation. Don't be surprised if these youngsters rise to the occasion."

Udonis Haslem says he nearly fought Jimmy Butler to Defend Miami Heat locker room unity

(Image Source - Getty Images) Udonis Haslem reveals he almost confronted Jimmy Butler following a timeout altercation in 2022, aiming to safeguard locker room harmony. Jimmy Butler, who managed to play just 65 games during his last six seasons with the Heat, departed Miami in February 2025 under a cloud of drama and injuries. Udonis Haslem's narrative sheds light on Heat culture and what unfolds when a player crosses the line. Udonis Haslem was ready to fight Jimmy Butler in 2022 During a June 11 appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Udonis Haslem shared how intense things became during a timeout back in March 2022. He confessed, "I was gonna whoop Jimmy's ass, I love Jimmy but I wasn't gonna let one guy take down an entire locker room." At that moment, Jimmy Butler, who was in his prime with Miami, briefly lost his cool with coach Erik Spoelstra. Udonis Haslem's willingness to throw down highlighted his position as the emotional backbone of the team, a crucial protector against any internal chaos. Jimmy Butler's last seasons in Miami were plagued by missing games. He participated in 60 games during 2023-24, but only 25 in 2024-25 before he asked for a trade. Looking for a multi-year extension and citing injuries, he often found himself on the bench and was ultimately suspended by Pat Riley. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Heat president Riley openly criticized Jimmy Butler's availability and contract requests as tensions escalated. The deadlock broke on February 6, 2025, when Jimmy Butler was sent to the Golden State Warriors as part of a five-team trade. Miami got back Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, Dennis Schröder, and a protected first-round pick. Even though he had a dramatic exit, Jimmy Butler managed to revitalize his game in Golden State, playing 30 games towards the end of the season. However, the drama didn't stop there; team legends like Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem called out his playoff performance, saying he didn't show enough assertiveness when it mattered most. Udonis Haslem's story isn't just fun to hear; it really shows how much the Heat value their internal code. Udonis Haslem, who played until he was 42 and is now Miami's vice-president of basketball development, has always stressed the importance of sacrificing for 'Heat Culture.' He's made it known that no player, regardless of their status, is exempt from consequences if they jeopardize team unity. His warning to Jimmy Butler proves that culture can be upheld not only by coaches or management but also by respected players who are willing to intervene. The Miami Heat culture goes beyond just catchy phrases on the walls; it's embodied by people like Udonis Haslem, who isn't afraid to challenge even the biggest stars on the team. His revelation about almost getting into a fight with Jimmy Butler sends a clear signal: unity and a common goal take precedence over personal skills. Neil Nails 19 Past Hosts NBYS To Lead DKM To Six-Point Title Triumph In Junior Basketball Final

Nagpur: Neil Dhargawe utilized his height well to score a game-high 19 points as Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) boys rallied from three points down to get the better of hosts Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) 59-53 and secure the inter-club Junior (U-18) basketball championship title at the Bajaj Nagar courts. With this six-point title triumph, the DKM teams registered a double delight after their girls' outfit clinched a facile 20-point victory over the home team earlier in the evening. The eight-day tournament was organised by NBYS under the aegis of Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA). In the boys' final, DKM took time to settle into their groove. After losing the first quarter 13-16, DKM not only brought parity to the game but took a marginal three-point lead at the lemon break after winning the second period 14-8. DKM boys continued their winning march by dominating the third period after the change of ends. With a 22-14 win in the third quarter, DKM boys stretched their advantage further to 11 points. Though the home team from NBYS tried many tricks to bring down the lead, they failed to handle the defensive strategy of DKM in the fourth and final quarter. NBYS won the same 15-10 but fell short as DKM recorded a thumping victory. While Neil Dhargawe led from the front with his 19-point effort in the final, Atharva Dhore (12), Prathamesh Diwedi (8), Om Raut (6), and Yash Waghade (6) played well for DKM. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like $50/Night for a 5-Star Hotel?
