Google has rolled out Android 16 Beta 4.1 to developers and testers, offering a series of bug fixes and system improvements aimed at enhancing overall device performance. The update, which is now available for select Pixel devices, builds on the second major platform stability release. This means all app-facing behaviours and developer APIs are final and will appear in the public release of Android 16 without further changes.
One of the most notable fixes in this update addresses inconsistent haptic feedback that users experienced during common actions such as opening the app drawer, typing on the keyboard, or using the back gesture. This issue had led to a diminished tactile response and impacted the fluidity of user interaction, which has now been resolved.
The update also corrects a bug that disrupted 4K video recording when using the 4x telephoto zoom. According to reports, the camera app would unexpectedly stop recording a few seconds into a 4K 30fps session. With this fix, users can expect improved stability when capturing high-resolution footage.
Another issue that has been addressed involves the Pixel Weather app, where the radar map would occasionally disappear. Additionally, a visual glitch causing a black navigation bar to appear during screen transitions has been fixed, leading to a more consistent interface experience. The update also resolves a crash bug in the Google app, which occurred when users attempted to load certain websites.
Importantly, the update tackles a significant battery drain issue that had been widely reported. This problem, categorised as 'high' impact, caused devices to lose battery power rapidly. With Beta 4.1, Google claims the battery performance on affected Pixel models should now improve noticeably.
Android 16 Beta 4.1 is available for a wide range of Pixel devices, including the Pixel 9 series, Pixel 9a, Pixel 8 series, Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 series, the Pixel Fold, and the Pixel Tablet. Devices enrolled in Google's beta programme should automatically receive the update over-the-air, although rollout is happening in phases and may take a few days to reach all users. Those wishing to check manually can do so by navigating toSettings > System > Software update > System update > Check for updates.
With the release of Beta 4.1, Android 16 moves closer to its final release, offering developers and early adopters a clearer picture of what to expect in the stable version.

Meanwhile, in the UK and India, over 1800 and 360 users have raised complaints with YouTube, respectively. The majority of these reports specifically cited issues with video streaming on the website. How the YouTube outage is affecting users In the US, 79% and 3% of users complained facing issues with the website and the app, respectively. 18% of users reported problems with streaming videos on the platform. In the UK, 78% and 2% of users faced problems with the YouTube website and app, respectively, while 20% raised issues about being unable to stream videos on the platform. Meanwhile, in India, 68% and 5% of YouTube users faced issues with the website and the app, respectively, while 27% faced problems with streaming videos. A map on Downdetector also showed that the latest YouTube outage is affecting users all across the US, UK and India. Samsung to start deleting inactive accounts soon: Here's how to stop it
Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, has decided to permanently delete all accounts that have been inactive for 24 months as a new move to ensure better data protection. Emails are being sent out to the IDs associated with users' Samsung accounts with a personalized date mentioned on each of them. If the user fails to take any action by the specified date, their account and all data associated with it will be permanently deleted by the company. This new 'inactive Samsung account policy' is aimed at preventing the personal data of users from being tampered with due to prolonged periods of inactivity which could increase risks of leakage. Data from your Google Account will still be secure since that is completely separate from a Samsung account. 'As per our service's policy, your data in Samsung Cloud including data stored in Smart TV, Family Hub, and Galaxy Wearable will be deleted,' the email reads. All such warning messages to intimate customers about this move will be sent before July 31. Since Samsung accounts are required to access any Galaxy device, it's fairly staple for all customers of the company to have one. If you wish to protect your data from being erased, simply log in to your account using a Galaxy device once again to inform the system that you are still an active user and wish to continue with your previous account. If you fail to do so by the date mentioned in your warning email, the company will consider that you no longer wish to receive the data stored on your previous account and delete all such material. Make sure you are still logged into the email associated with your Samsung account, otherwise you may never receive the warning mail. For those using a secondary Samsung account, the same procedure applies. If you switched to another mobile brand but wish to keep your hold account intact, make sure you log into it once before the assigned deadline.

Announced during Microsoft's 50th anniversary celebrations, Copilot Shopping aims to transform the way users discover, compare, and buy products online. The system allows users to explore items based on natural language queries, track prices, view consumer reviews, and even complete purchases without ever leaving the app. According to a recent post by Microsoft Copilot's official account on X, the feature builds on the company's efforts to bring generative AI to everyday tasks. It comes shortly after similar initiatives by Google and OpenAI, which introduced AI shopping capabilities via Search and ChatGPT, respectively. Copilot Shopping works as a comprehensive virtual assistant that starts from product discovery and carries the user all the way to checkout. Users can ask specific or open-ended questions—such as 'What's the best smartwatch for fitness tracking?' or 'I'm starting to learn photography. What gear do I need?'—and the AI will respond with curated, interactive visual cards showing relevant products. These product listings include summaries, technical specifications, pros and cons, and user-generated reviews.
