Miraj Cord Line project worth 129cr approved
Kolhapur: Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has approved the Miraj Cord Line (1.73 km) project for Central Railway, with an allocated cost of Rs129 crore. This initiative aims to improve rail connectivity and freight efficiency in the region. The project falls under the Multi Tracking/Flyover/Bypass Line Capacity Enhancement policy, designed to streamline rail operations at Miraj Junction. Miraj is a significant interchange point, connecting key routes such as Miraj-Pune, Miraj-Kolhapur, Miraj-Pandharpur, and Miraj-Londa. Kishor Bhorawat, a member of the Central Railway Mumbai Regional Advisory Committee, said, "Currently, trains traveling from Kurduwadi or Hubballi towards Kolhapur experience delays at Miraj, often ranging from 30 minutes to an hour, due to engine or brake van reversals. The proposed Cord Line will eliminate these operational delays, thereby enhancing overall network efficiency." This development is considered a crucial step in strengthening Western Maharashtra's railway infrastructure, promising more efficient movement of both freight and passenger trains.

Meerut man arrested for operating multi-crore car loan fraud
Meerut: The special task force in Meerut arrested a 35-year-old man on Wednesday for allegedly operating a car loan fraud gang, causing losses worth crores to several banks. Additional SP STF Brijesh Kumar Singh said, "Anangpal Nagar, a resident of Kithore in Meerut, was the mastermind behind the crime and had been involved in this scam for the past 10 years. So far, six cars have been identified and a loss of over Rs 2.5 crores have been accounted for." Singh added, "Nagar used forged addresses in car loan documents along with fake Aadhaar cards at banks to secure loans and later sold the cars — mostly luxury — after defaulting on EMIs. The addresses on the documents were often linked to rented houses. Once a vehicle was financed, the accused vacated the listed address, stopped paying the EMI, and sold the vehicle at a reduced price to unsuspecting buyers." During interrogation, Nagar revealed that he registered a fake enterprise named Preeti Dairy, in the name of his female friend, showing its location in the Modipuram region of Meerut. Police said he used this fake business to create financial credibility by opening multiple bank accounts and transferring money between them to manipulate the cibil score in ITR filings. "In March, Anangpal financed a Fortuner from an SBI branch using a friend's name. Last year, he financed a Scorpio for Rs 18.5 lakh from the Indian Bank in the name of another female friend and later sold it to one Mohit Siwach for Rs 11 lakh. Two Toyota HyRyder vehicles were also financed — one from Toyota Finance and the other from ICICI Bank in Gurgaon — using fake address proofs. One of these was later sold to a buyer in Rajnagar Extension of Ghaziabad for Rs 16 lakh," Singh said, adding that investigation is ongoing to identify other members of the gang and trace more vehicles obtained through this racket.

Tatkal Ticket Booking Rule Change Alert: Indian Railways To Soon Use....Passengers To Get Confirmed Ticket With...
Booking a confirmed tatkal ticket with Indian Railways has been a dream for many train travellers in India. The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)'s website often hangs, slows down and delays booking by individual passengers. This often leads to outrage among passengers who get waitlisted tickets despite efforts and payment deductions. Notably, the Indian Railways and IRCTC have been working to resolve this issue and make tatak ticket booking by individual passengers smooth. Now, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced a change in the booking rules for tatkal tickets. The rule will come into effect soon, said Vaishnaw. "Bharatiya Railways will soon start using e-Aadhaar authentication to book Tatkal tickets. This will help genuine users get confirmed tickets during need," said the minister on X. With e-Aadhar authentication, the passenger will get OTP on their mobiles and they will have to verify it on the IRCTC ticket booking website. This will weed out fake users/passengers/agents who often book tickets and sell it in black at higher prices to those in need. Aadhaar authentication will help the railways verify the passenger's info and thus, reduce the burden on servers by removing fake users.
