Messi, 38, left PSG in 2023 on a free transfer once his contract in the French capital expired.
During his time with the club, he formed one-third of the exciting attacking trio alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
However, he was not a fan favourite in France, as PSG failed to secure the Champions League trophy despite having a prolific front three.
He caused further upset in the country as he played a crucial role in France's World Cup heartbreak in 2022.

It is clear that time has not softened the views towards the former Barcelona star.

The likes of Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola beat Inter Milan 5-0 in the final back in May.
Inter Miami reached the knockout stages of the Club World Cup by finishing second in Group A.
Their best moment came as they beat Portuguese giants Porto 2-1 with Messi scoring a match-winning free kick.
PSG, on the other hand, beat Atletico Madrid and the Seattle Sounders in Group B.
Although they were beaten 1-0 by Brazilian outfit Botafogo.
The winners between Inter Miami and PSG will face either Bayern Munich or Flamengo in the quarterfinals.
Speaking ahead of the match, Miami boss Javier Mascherano has insisted his side are the underdogs.
He said: "On paper, respectfully - I think we're the underdog, but that doesn't mean we're already out.
"Reaching this stage was difficult, and the team has earned it.
"We're up against one of the world's best, and hopefully, we'll get our chance to advance.
Mascherano will have a reunion of his own as he will come up against former manager Luis Enrique - who he played for at Barcelona.
"Luis [Enrique] is one of the most influential coaches I've ever had.
"We share a personal connection, and I hold him in high regard.
"He convinced me to join Barcelona, and he's consistently proven himself across different clubs. It will be special to see him again

Lionel Messi hands PSG star his whole kit and boots after Inter Miami mauling
Lionel Messi's Inter Miami team may have been hammered 4-0 by Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup, but he seemed in good spirits after the game. PSG booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the tournament thanks to a comfortable victory in Atlanta. Joao Neves scored twice and Achraf Hakimi scored after Tomas Aviles had put through his own net. It was a dominant performance from the European champions and they will now face either Bayern Munich or Flamengo in the last eight. There was no joy at all for Messi against his former club but he was happy to catch up with former teammates after the game. It was actually a teammate from Barcelona that landed a special gift from the legendary forward, as Messi handed over his whole kit, including his boots, to Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman also posted a picture alongside Messi, which he captioned: 'Good to see you again @leomessi, the greatest of all time.. I hope you continue to make history with the @intermiamicf like in this World Club.' Dembele was obviously keen to add to his shirt collection on Sunday as he picked up a couple more former Barcelona stars as well. Not content with just Messi's, the 28-year-old also snapped up Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba's jerseys. Dembele spent six years with Barca after signing from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, although never really lived up to expectations after the Catalan giants agreed a deal for him which could have reached £135.5m. He made 185 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions, scoring 40 goals, with injuries hampering his progress during his time in Spain. Since leaving for PSG in 2023 things have gone much better for him, netting 33 goals in 49 appearances last season alone as Luis Enrique's side won Ligue 1 and the Champions League. PSG boss Enrique said after the victory on Sunday that the result did not reflect that it was a tough game for his side. 'It is difficult to play against players of this calibre, it was difficult, but I think as a team we did an excellent job,' he said. 'There's a visible difference between the first and second halves… their quality is evident, and I think we deserved the victory. More Trending 'It was harder than it may seem, after the first half.' He added: 'We are in the quarter-finals, with only eight teams remaining. Our goal is to progress as far as possible and to compete for the trophy. But for that, we need to overcome two more knock-out rounds. 'The season is very long, as it is for all teams, but the motivation to be competitive is there.'
