Vegan fried chicken restaurant in Minneapolis to close next month
Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken, a south Minneapolis vegan eatery from the brother-and-sister duo behind the Herbivorous Butcher, will close in late March.
Aubry and Kale Walch announced Sunday that its plant-based fried chicken eatery will "take an indefinite sabbatical" after its final day of service Sunday, March 30. The restaurant originally opened at Chicago and 48th in 2021.
"From the very first bite, you made our little fried chicken shack something truly special," they wrote. "The flavors, the memories, and the love poured into every meal will live on – not just in our hearts, but at The Herbivorous Butcher, where some of our classics will continue to shine."
According to the announcement, Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken's frozen fried chicken, Herbie's Mac Sauce, Tot Dust and Dragon Dust will continue to be sold online and at The Herbivorous Butcher.
"Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken may be taking a break, but its legacy—and its crunch—will live on," a Facebook post reads. "Our fried chicken production will continue forever, supplying our wholesalers just like before, so you'll always be able to get your hands on it."
Beginning Saturday, Feb. 22, Herbie Butcher's Fried Chicken will be open every Saturday and Sunday from noon until 7 p.m.

New ice cream parlor opens in Schuylkill Haven
Just as summer is arriving, a new destination for frozen desserts has opened in Schuylkill Haven. Ice Cream Haven began in May along Route 61, offering the community a new spot to get ice cream and other cold treats.
