Welsh drugs boss boasted about living highlife from Dubai
Jerome Samuels, 31, from Newport was able to splash out on expensive trips while playing 'a leading role' in a crime gang.
The father-of-four's reign was ended when he was caught with more than £50,000 worth of heroin, crack cocaine and cocaine weighing over 1kg earlier this year.
Tabitha Walker, prosecuting, said the defendant was arrested by Gwent Police officers who were on patrol in an unmarked car in the Bettws area of Newport.
They arrested Samuels on suspicion of drug dealing and found more than £5,000 in cash inside his Vauxhall Insignia car.

Police also came across a key for a Volkswagen Tiguan SUV which they traced to Maesglas Crescent.
When they searched the vehicle they came across the large drugs stash.
They seized 205.8g of crack cocaine with a potential street value of £20,020, 651.5g of heroin worth £22,200 and 491.8g of cocaine which could be sold for £12,000.
Detectives discovered incriminating evidence on Samuels' mobile phone which included the video of him showing off in Dubai.
Miss Walker said: 'The Crown say this defendant played a leading role and there was the expectation of significant financial gain with influence over others in the chain.'
Samuels, of Monnow Way, Bettws admitted possession with intent to supply heroin, possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of criminal property.
The offences occurred on January 26, Cardiff Crown Court was told.
Julia Cox representing him asked the court to take into account the fact that her client had no previous convictions for drug trafficking offences.
She added how he is mourning the recent death of his grandmother who passed away last month.
Judge Celia Hughes told Samuels: 'It's clear that you were enjoying the life of a drug dealer.
'You were showing off your lavish lifestyle in a video I have seen of you staying in a penthouse suite at a top end hotel in Dubai with a bowl of white powder.'
She added: "You weren't at the top but you were high up in the chain.
'You were running street dealers and your sales were on a commercial scale and you knew the risks that you were taking.'
The defendant was jailed for four years and eight months.
He is due to face a proceeds of crime hearing on December 2.
PC Thomas Meazey, the officer in the case, said: "Jerome Samuels funded a lavish and extravagant lifestyle through his criminal activities.
"The supply of drugs is not a victimless crime, it causes harm and misery not only to those involved and their families but also the wider community.
"We welcome the sentence imposed on Samuels and hope that it demonstrates that those involved in such criminal activity are not untouchable."

Dog owner frightened after Pitbull attack at Newport park
The attack happened in Cefn Wood around 16:45pm Wednesday May 29. Frightened dog owner 76-year-old Tracey White said her Welsh Collie puppy Neo was attacked by a 'black and white Pitbull type dog.' Tracey told the Argus 'Every day I take my daughters dog to Cefen Wood fields, my pup ran out the gate from my house where he knew Milo (My daughter's dog) would be. 'Neo was off his lead and was on his back with his paws in the air totally submissive. 'I saw a man with his dog and asked him if he was friendly, he said he was, so I let Neo go over but then he had him by his chest and his throat.' Tracey White with her Welsh Collie that was attacked Neo (Image: Tracey White) Neo was then mauled twice by the dog. Tracey said: 'We couldn't get him off him (the dog). I was screaming, and two workmen came running over. 'The workmen managed to get hold of Neo then he (the owner) let go of the lead and he had him a second time. It makes me think, what if it was a child.' According to Tracey the man responded aggressively when confronted. 'He said my dog was only nipped and said to go online and look at some real dog fights.' Neo's wounds post dog attack (Image: Tracey White) Luckily Neo has since recovered from the attack and vets confirmed the other dog pierced his chest muscle. Conman ordered to repay £1,300 for jewellery he obtained by fraud
Jason Liddell claimed he would send the money in a bank transfer but it didn't appear. A landscaper who said he would send £1,300 in a bank transfer to a man selling jewellery but failed to make the payment has been ordered to pay compensation. Jason Liddell told his victim on January 24, 2024, he would transfer £1,300 into his bank account in payment for jewellery which his victim was selling. The 35-year-old conman never made the payment to the man from Paisley's Netherhill Crescent, and thereby 'obtained the jewellery by fraud'. Liddell pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining the jewellery while acting with another person. Defence agent Charlie McCusker told Paisley Sheriff Court Liddell had attended court with £1,300 and was 'prepared' to make payment of the money to his victim. Mr McCusker added: 'He is remorseful and knows he has done wrong. He works as a landscaper and can travel about the country for work. He apologises for his conduct.' Liddell also faced a charge which alleged he obtained a car 'fraudulently' by failing to make a bank transfer of £13,200 to a man in Glasgow on January 28, 2023. The man was selling a car and it was alleged Liddell 'induced' the man to give him the keys to the car and drove it away without making payment. The Crown accepted his plea of not guilty to that charge. Sheriff Clare Arias stated: 'Your English record is absolutely appalling and your Scottish record isn't great either. 'Had you attended today without the money, things would be very different. You make quite a decent wage so I don't understand why you acted so dishonestly.' Liddell, of Stellhead Avenue, New Cumnock, East Ayrshire, was ordered to repay £1,300 in compensation to his victim within 28 days. In addition, he was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the community within 10 months and ordered to wear a tag keeping him within his home address from 7.30pm to 6.30am for 18 weeks. A review hearing was fixed for August 21.
