Parliamentary Committee Finds Apartment Sizes Inadequate in Salman City Housing Plans
A Parliamentary Committee investigating housing plans in Salman City has found that the size of apartments is often inadequate for Bahraini families. The finding emerged during a field visit conducted by the committee to assess the effectiveness of housing projects presented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
The visit, which included members of the committee, the Minister of Housing, and ministry officials, focused on evaluating the latest developments and addressing challenges faced by citizens. A key point of discussion was the size of apartments and housing units.
The committee noted that the current apartment sizes were often inadequate for Bahraini families, especially considering the long waiting periods that often leave families needing larger homes to accommodate their growing size.
Committee members underscored the need to revise designs and sizes to provide more suitable solutions for Bahraini families, taking into account citizens' aspirations and achieving sustainability in housing projects.
Other aspects of the housing plans were also reviewed, including project implementation and service provision. The committee stressed that this visit is part of a series of field visits aimed at evaluating the reality of cities and residential complexes and ensuring the efficient implementation of projects in accordance with the National Housing Plan.
They reiterated their commitment to cooperating with the Ministry of Housing to find practical solutions to current challenges, ensure fairness in the distribution of housing units, and improve the quality of life for citizens.
The committee called for continued dialogue and coordination between the legislative and executive branches to enhance the performance of the housing sector and ensure the implementation of projects according to the highest standards, thereby fulfilling citizens' aspirations for adequate and sustainable housing.

China Grants Visa-Free Entry To Bahraini Citizens
China has announced that it will implement a visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from Bahrain, alongside Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Kuwait. The announcement was made by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning during a press briefing on Wednesday. The visa exemption will come into effect from June 9, 2025, and will remain valid until June 8, 2026. Under this policy, citizens of Bahrain can enter China without a visa and stay for up to 30 days for purposes including business, tourism, family visits, cultural exchanges, and transit. Boosting Ties Between Bahrain and China This decision marks a major step forward in strengthening Bahrain-China bilateral relations and further reflects China's growing commitment to enhancing cooperation with Gulf nations. It also opens new avenues for Bahraini entrepreneurs, tourists, and students seeking greater access to the Chinese market and culture. Full Visa-Free Access for All GCC Countries With this latest inclusion, all six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries now enjoy visa-free access to China. The United Arab Emirates and Qatar were granted the exemption earlier in 2018. According to Mao Ning, this complete visa-free coverage underscores China's strategic approach to deepening partnerships with the GCC bloc.
