FORMER Hamilton Accies star Andy Ryan has successfully appealed a whopping FIVE-match ban - after the referee in question failed to TURN UP.
The talented former Hamilton and Airdrie man now leads the line for Larne, who finished runners up to Linfield this season after clinching the previous two league titles.

He found himself in hot water after being sent off by referee Hane Andrews in a League game against Linfield at Windsor Park on February 11.
He was also hit with a five-match ban for an alleged exchange with Andrews in the tunnel area of Windsor Park at half-time, which was claimed constituted a breach of Article 14.15 of the IFA Disciplinary Code.
According to the Belfast Telegraph, Andrews reported Ryan for allegedly calling him 'a f***ing joke' - only for Larne to dispute this, claiming their player said 'the DECISION was a f***ing joke'.
He was in line for a combined total of an eight-match ban but first the IFA's Disciplinary Committee decided to overturn the suspension for the challenge on Blues midfielder Kyle McClean.
A challenge then went in from Larne on the IFA's decision to ban Ryan for five games - only for several hearings were postponed as referee Andrews was unavailable to give evidence.
And when he was unable to give evidence again at a hearing on Wednesday night and, in his absence, the Disciplinary Committee decided there was no case to answer and upheld Ryan's challenge.
As quoted in the Belfast Telegraph, the Irish FA refused to comment on whether Andrews attended the hearing or not, but a spokesperson confirmed 'the challenge lodged by Andy Ryan was upheld'.
Another Larne man Conor McKendry also won his challenge against a nine-game ban following the brawl at Inver Park between Larne and Glentoran players in April.
McKendry, who was one of four players to be sent off after the brawl by referee Jamie Robinson, received the nine-game ban but has had his suspension reduced from nine to three games.

Northern Irish basketball star earns pre-draft workout with NBA team

The 22-year-old guard, who currently plays for college side the Charleston Cougars, will take part in the event in a bid to impress the Timberwolves' coaches ahead of the NBA Draft, which begins on June 25. Fulton, the son of former Ireland international Adrian, started his career with St Malachy's College and Belfast Star in Northern Ireland before securing a move Stateside in 2020, joining the Winchendon School in Boston. A switch to Lafayette University followed after securing a basketball scholarship and he would then move on to Charleston, whom he featured for in college basketball's annual 'March Madness' tournament last year. Now he will get a shot at standing out in front of an franchise that only just missed out on going to the NBA Finals this year, losing the Western Conference Finals for the second year in a row, beaten by the Oklahoma City Thunder after missing out to the Dallas Mavericks a year ago. Were he to break into the NBA then Fulton would follow in the footsteps of Dublin's Pat Burke, who played for the Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns in the early 2000s, while Susan Moran featured for the WNBA's New York Liberty in 2002. Fulton could make history, however, as he would the first Irish-trained player to reach the NBA should be dress for a game at any point as Burke, while Dublin born, moved to Cleveland, Ohio when he was just three-years-old. While he is not currently listed inside the top-100 expected draft picks, that does not mean the Belfast man could not forge a successful career for himself, with the likes of Artis Gilmore and Randy Smith (both 1971) having been drafted outside the top-100 and gone on to become All-Stars.

Epsom Derby punters threatened with £100 on-the-spot fines under new rules

Racegoers are expected to be on their best behaviour DESTRUCTION DERBY Epsom Derby punters threatened with £100 on-the-spot fines under new rules Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) PUNTERS going to Saturday's Epsom Derby have been threatened with £100 on-the-spot fines. A new council order issued in time for the world's most famous Flat race will aim to crack down on anti-social behaviour. It could last up to three years and ties in with the council's efforts to clamp down on rowdy behaviour during the two-day meeting. The order applies to anyone harassing or threatening others, or continuing to drink alcohol after being ordered to stop by a police officer, community support officer or council officer. The order was voted in by the council last month. It came as one councillor claimed locals were thinking of leaving the area on account of the allegedly 'intimidating' behaviour during Derby weekend. Shanice Goldman, chair of the crime and disorder committee, said: "The PSPO is a new tool specifically for the Epsom & Ewell area which will allow police and appropriate council staff to address anti-social behaviour effectively, without immediately resorting to arrests. "I hope this order will ensure a more enjoyable experience for everyone on the day, as well as a safer environment in the borough." Tens of thousands of racegoers are expected to descend on the Downs on Friday and Saturday. The Derby, which has been run since 1780, has an enormous prize pool of £1.5million, with the winner picking up £900,000. It is one of the most prestigious races run anywhere in the world and its list of winners includes the legendary Shergar. Iconic Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien and Southampton boy Charlie Appleby have the joint-favourites this year in the shape of Delacroix and 1,000 Guineas winner Ruling Court. However, one of O'Brien's three runners got a nightmare stall in Wednesday's draw - read Templegate's reaction to it here. This is far from the first time a local authority has attempted a crackdown on behaviour during race week. In Cheltenham for the jumps festival the council brought in special paint that caused pee to splash back on anyone urinating in public in what was called a 'war on wee'. Celtic trialist draws 'attention' from Championship duo

The 16-year-old topped the under-20 Premiership Development League goalscoring charts last term, bagging 23 times in 32 matches. He also netted 21 goals in 25 under-18 appearances. Read more: Reid enjoyed trial periods at Celtic earlier this year, claims the Belfast News Letter, who says that he has 'caught the attention' of Preston North End and Wrexham, both of whom play their football in England's second tier. There is also said to be interest from Aberdeen. Celtic have seemed to have a keen eye for Irish talent in recent times. Liam Scales was signed for £500,000 from Shamrock Rovers, not long before Johnny Kenny swapped Sligo for Glasgow. The 21-year-old striker, who converted his spot-kick in his side's Scottish Cup final defeat to Aberdeen, netted on his maiden Celtic start, which came against the same opposition a week and a half prior. "He's come in and obviously been limited in his opportunities, but it's not stopped him," said Brendan Rodgers of the forward last month. "He's worked so hard every day and it was just about timing, really. It was about giving him the opportunity. "He took it with a fantastic goal. His movement was really good, so that gave him huge confidence. "I like him as a player. He obviously came into Celtic earlier, went away, got some experience. He's grown over the few months we've had him from January. He's got stronger. His movement's really good. "He's a natural goal scorer. From 25 yards in, he can get the goal like he did tonight, left foot, right foot. I'm so pleased for him. A young guy from Ireland, playing for Celtic and then scoring your first goal at Pittodrie. It was amazing for him."
