Yahoo12-05-2025

Tory Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) was the victim of a prison stabbing on Monday morning (May 12). According to TMZ, Lanez was rushed to a nearby hospital in Bakersfield, Calif., to treat his injuries.

On Friday (May 9), Lanez posted a prison photo with fellow inmates from behind bars and revealed his plans for a Slutty Bass album this summer. 'UPDATE : 2025,' he captioned the post. 'IYKYK LESS IMPORTANT UPDATE : 2ND ALBUM 100 % RECORDED, MIXED & MASTERED NEW ALBUM. NEW GENRE: SLUTTY BASS SUMMER 2025.'
Lanez continued to detail the genre's origins: 'ALONE AT PROM + MIAMI BASS + ALVIN AND THE MONK$ + SLUTTY DARK RNB VIBES = SLUTTY BASS COMING THIS SUMMER.'
The 32-year-old also dropped his 'Lotta Money Ave (Lost Tapes 2017)' single onto streaming services as a gift for fans on Friday.
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison in August 2023 after being convicted on three felony counts related to him shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a heated dispute outside a Hollywood Hills party in July 2020.
According to prosecutors, Megan got out of a car during the argument and was walking away when Lanez shouted, 'Dance, bitch!', and shot at her feet. The singer was eventually charged in October 2022.
Megan was eventually granted a five-year restraining order against Lanez in January. 'I want my restraining order because I haven't been at peace since I [was] shot,' she said during her emotional testimony on video. 'I feel like maybe he'll shoot me again, and maybe this time I won't make it.'
In April, Thee Stallion's attorneys filed for Lanez to be held in contempt of court over 'disruptive' and 'inflammatory' behavior during a civil case deposition, which reportedly went so bad that it had to be cut short.
'Mr. Peterson made a mockery of the proceedings,' Megan's attorneys wrote. 'Nothing short of a contempt finding and meaningful sanctions will deter Mr. Peterson from continuing to abuse the process.'
The civil case was filed by Megan Thee Stallion in late 2024 against social media personality Milagro Gramz (Milagro Cooper). Megan claimed that Gramz and Lanez conspired in a 'coordinated campaign' to 'defame and delegitimize' her in the wake of the 2020 shooting and subsequent trial.
Billboard has reached out to Tory Lanez's attorney for comment.

A 45-year-old Grimsby man is facing human trafficking and other charges after police say two women were forced to constantly work out of fear for their lives. And authorities believe there are more alleged victims. Halton Regional Police said their human trafficking unit began an investigation with Peel Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police in April. Investigators identified two women who were allegedly being trafficked by the suspect throughout the province since 2024. On Tuesday, police located and arrested the accused in Hamilton, and search warrants were then executed in Hamilton and Grimsby. Investigators said they seized $37,385 in Canadian currency, body armour, 11.2 grams of fentanyl, 5.9 grams of cocaine, as well as other unidentified items related to human trafficking. DDG's Temporary Restraining Order Against Halle Bailey Denied

On Wednesday (June 4), DDG requested an emergency hearing in an attempt to block Halle Bailey from traveling internationally with their son, Halo. He countered her previous domestic violence accusations by filing for a restraining order of his own, but his request was not approved. Bailey is set to leave to Italy with their one-year-old this weekend for a few months as she shoots a film. TMZ reported yesterday the Michigan rapper filed a motion against his ex-girlfriend, claiming she poses an 'imminent emotional and psychological risk' to the child. He included several alleged incidents that would back up his assertions, if true. DDG wrote about a time Halle took his gun and ran out of his house, said she would have an abortion behind his back, and would text him concerning messages regarding her mental health. 'In or about August 2023, during a particularly volatile argument, petitioner became enraged and threatened to end her life using my legally owned firearm. Without my consent, she took the weapon and left the house,' wrote DDG in a declaration attached to his court filing, per Billboard. 'This incident was one of several in which petitioner's actions posed a serious threat to her own safety and the safety of our son by creating an environment of emotional distress and danger within the home.' The rapper also claimed Halle sent 'a series of alarming text messages threatening to kill herself and suggesting that their infant son, Halo, might also be harmed.' In May, Halle was granted a temporary restraining order against DDG after accusing him of abuse. She cited an incident where he allegedly smashed her head against a steering wheel during an argument, said he often referred to her as a 'b**ch' or 'evil,' and rallied his supporters to bad-mouth her publicly. The Little Mermaid actress addressed her Italy travel plans in her original complaint, which was approved on May 15. 'I have family and a nanny who will be traveling with me to care for Halo while I am working,' Halle wrote in the court documents. The former couple went public in March 2022 and had a child together in December 2023. See a full timeline of their relationship here.
